I don't want to step on America toes in the whole gun discussion - but events like today look like absolute insanity from the outside looking in. Why on earth is a citizen holed up in a hotel with 10 legally held guns? It's nuts.

Of course, you can counter this with talk of knives and terrorist bombs - but there's only one reason that 58 people are dead and 515 others are injured.

I'm sorry, you guys really need to have a think about this. It's notable that this only really happens with any regularity in one country.

My condolences to those affected.

Please post the source that shows these were legally held guns.

The evidence can point to whatever they want it to point to if it was indeed staged and I'm not saying it is. But to accept everything exactly as being stated in the first 24 hours is not a good idea especially with the track record of our officials. It's possible their narrative will continue to carry regardless and this was perfectly planned (again if staged). Sometimes we find holes other times we don't. The only people that know the truth are those directly involved and possibly first responders, sometimes not even them. I don't trust anything anymore, so many lies in the past 30 years one after another and everything smells bad.

My FB has opinions ranging from AntiFa claiming responsibility, to IS claiming responsibility, to this being a false flag government staged attack.

There's a simpler explanation.

If I had Country Music blaring outside my window at Oh Dark Thirty, I'd probably want to shoot someone, too.

They go out of there way to not release a description? Any shooting or or mass killing I have read about, about an hour later I'm reading all about what the guy was into. (Adam Lanza, Columbine, The Dark Knight shooting.) seeing multiple pictures of him holding guns. That he was a fan of this violent game/movie. Etc. And if he's white, he's just a "lonewolf". He was having a bad day and this is what happened. I just read a little bit about this guy but this just happened. Tomorrow, his highschool girlfriends will be giving interviews and showing pictures.

Right, so like I said, don't make stuff up.

I wonder if the reports about cameras in the room are accurate and what are the odds that they will be released to quell suspicion?

Exactly. The Strip is pretty much an artificial canyon. Sound is going to do some pretty funny things in there. My guess is that those people who think they're hearing multiple shooters are just hearing an echo. This also explains why there were so many reports of shots fired at other casinos.

I agree.

I have heard ongoing (single shooter) automatic gunfire in a major city; the sound echoes off every building and can sound as if there are multiple firings from multiple places.

That's not to say there can't be multiples, but the above can certainly cause confusion in the moment of chaos.

It smells terrible. But look at all the people claiming not to trust the government; eating up the official story.

Accepted, and just to be clear, I'm not saying there's definitely no second shooter. Just, at this point, none of the information we have points to that. So far all the info leads to one shooter.

Yes, because waiting for further confirmation regarding an incident in which 500+ people injured rather than wildly speculate means we are "eating up the official story."

Done with ATS for the day. Absolutely unreal, man.

Hotel rooms don't have cameras in them, I work at one.
Finding a video camera in a room would be extremely beyond convenient.

The speculation is that the cameras were his, possibly set up on tripods to record everything. But that's just a rumor as far as I can tell.

I bet in that situation he wasn't caring about the costs. He planned his suicide, you don't care about costs when you never have to pay possible loans back, because you are dead.

I suppose that would be true - it's not something I ever really considered!

They said Paddock had been "utilizing some of her (lady partner) identification". link with bunch of stuff on the killer www.bbc.com...

so my question was did he put the do not disturb sign on his door every day so housekeeping wasn't in the room?? they just said no housekeeping was in his room but they didn't see anything so he hid the firearms and he took stuff up to his room not asking for any help...probably grabbed one of those things that we throw all our bags on and take up to the room

Just something I heard on the radio. UK here.

I suspect it'll transpire that this claim is accurate though. He may have well reetooled a semi to go auto though.

If that turns out to be the case the footage should reveal a lot.

Confirmation? Who's "confirmation" will you trust? Right the Authorities respect the American people so they wouldn't lie to us, right?

I think there's still some confusion on exactly what he was recording. I've seen some reports he had the cameras set up to monitor the hallway so he would know when the police were about to break in.

Edit: It's possible he could've had cameras on both. We just don't have enough info yet.

How long did this go on for? The number of casualties and injuries is astounding for one shooter, I know there were a ton of people down there but he would've had to had drum-mags or multiple guns set up and ready and probably 15 minutes or more of shooting time to accomplish this.
