They also keep saying he used a tripod when it was a bipod. I'm not saying that it couldn't be the smoke detector that alerted the authorities. At the same time though the media hasn't exactly been spot on when it comes to the details.

The shooter must have been smart enough to bypass any sensors on the windows (if they have them for safety) but so crude as to use a hammer to break the window?
Why would he have to bypass the sensor? Odds are he began firing immediately after breaking the window. At which point casino security has bigger problems than investigating a broken window. For all we know him tripping the sensor may have been the reason SWAT knew exactly where to go.
MSN, yesterday, reported that the LEO's deducted --- that when a smoke alarm was activated in a room...it was the shooter's location.

There is no such thing as an "M-15". If you can change a barrel on an "AR-15" in less than "3 minutes"...well, I have a really good paying job for you!! Seriously! It takes a special barrel wrench and a big vice with special jaws. Tightening the barrel and adjusting the headspace takes even more time still...and new barrels rarely ever line up with the action, so the barrel nut won't tighten to the proper angle. Like I said, if you can do it in 3 minutes...you're hired!! (never seen anyone do it in 3 minutes...not EVAR!)
An M-249 SAW sounds nothing like an M-16 (unless you're standing right next to both and then they only sound the same because your ears are ringing). At a distance, like this shooter was, they sound nothing like each other! An M-249 shoots a 7.62mm x 51mm cartridge (or '7.62 NATO round). An M-16 shoots a 5.56mm x 45mm cartridge (5.56 NATO). They're not even close (i.e. .22 caliber vs .30 caliber...and a much larger case on the 7.62 NATO.

Looks like it. Rumor is they found anti-government literature and photos of him in the middle east as well.
The fact that it's been almost 48 hours and so little information has been put out by the media is making people think that this is a serious case of Coulter's Law.

That does look like a piece of paper or note.
Strange world we live in where it seems 4 Chan is breaking pictures from the crime scene.

Which was more than likely gun smoke... not any alarm from the window being broken.
Fire alarm, gun smoke

How many cameras are there between the front entrance and the elevators? How many people are in frame of even one of those cameras at any given time? Multiply that over 72 hours. Just finding him in all of that footage is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack.
