Yes, and that is when relief began to get shipped there. The problem is the local distribution channels. The devastation on the island is so vast that short of flying over and dropping a few daisy cutters to clear landing zones (killing many in the area) it will take time.

So, the Army doesn't have helicopters. There are no transport aircraft to evacuate people. Is that what the problem is? Seems jets are landing but not taking many people out.

The president only has to say "Do it." The military knows how to do it. They have a word for it. Logistics.

ummm...

Wednesday, September 20 – Storm Makes Landfall in Puerto Rico

FEMA’s NRCC is fully activated with all emergency support functions operational. FEMA holds daily video-teleconference with leadership across various departments and agencies.
President Donald J. Trump issues major disaster declarations for the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

that's from the link I gave in my previous post..
the president declared a disaster the same day as the hurricane made landfall. Fema was already in the area, working on the island because of Irma.

If you read that article, it makes notes about the ships waiting for the ports to open, the choppers flying recon missions over the island doing damage assessments, ect.
two amphibious ships capable of landing crafts without the need of any ports, plus choppers, plus lots of space to hold supplies...
but not a drop of water to spare, no extra mris, generators or fuel?? all that was sitting on the cargo ships waiting for the ports to be cleared and opened back up??? flying recon missions over the island, but they couldn't carry any goodies to drop off at the communities they passed over??

I am having a hard time understanding this, I really am...

And there needs to be landing zones too. And runways. And people need to be able to get to the evac zones.....etc...

The local infrastructure is devastated....roads washed away, mudslides, debris everywhere.

It's not magic Harry Potter. You need to provide locations first, then you can begin that process.

Do you think that the towns and cities in Puerto Rico are jungles?
Do you think that there are no beaches?

Nice hyperbole.

I see you still have no viable solutions to recommend. All of your involve magic and wishing really hard for things to happen immediately.

I see that you have no understanding of the capabilities of the US military.

Unless it involves blowing stuff up.

What I've learned from this thread is that the US government is responding but the infrastructure in Puerto Rico is having a difficult time distributing the aid.

I've also learned that people REALLY hate Trump.

The part about Puerto Rico people being lazy?

Never been so I don't know.

So, peace out peeps, going to visit other threads and learn other great and wonderful things.

That was a gigantic cop out. "Maybe they are all lazy, I haven't been." The fact you would consider an entire country lazy even if you visited for a month would show an extremely shallow view. Go stay with a family and work with them for a year and report back.

Have a snickers.

You always act like a moron when you're hungry.

I didn't comment on the lazy because I don't know. Do I trust YOU? HA!

Trump? HA.

The OP? HAHA

The ONLY person who has had firsthand experience was Marge, and she is from Puerto Rico.

So excuse the #### out of me if I don't take your word for jacksh#t.

Yeah, I am just one of those stupid deplorables a former candidate was talking about I guess.

But, you still have not offered any viable solution, or actual reports of massive delays based upon political reasons either.

Funny that.

Where will these magic helos land? Or do they just airdrop pallets of food into the area, then watch as the people fight each other over the food?

If Trump is tweeting something, he knows something.

We will see in a week or 2 why he said that.

Nope! If Trump is tweeting, he is on the crapper taking a dukie, and because He's never happy, he slings crap at just about anyone near his thought via tweeter.

I saw the mayor say that BS about "dying people"

She was standing in front of pallets of Goya products.

Did she need a can opener or something?

They have no truck drivers. Seriously?

No one can drive a stupid truck?

The power grid is gone and was f'd a long time ago thanks to corruption.

No power, no pumps for gas or water.

Too bad it'll take time.

If they weren't so f'n dependent and broke due to corruption and BS lib policies, this crap wouldn't be happening.

That's Lt. Gen Russell Honore, who is credited with having stepped in and turned around the federal response to Katrina. He is probably the most qualified person in the world (not currently leading that mission) to criticize the response.

I've watched several interviews with him over the last few days and he doesn't share your opinions. His take was that the Pentagon was about six days late appointing Lt. Gen Buchanan to head up the military relief operations.

The President most certainly could have made that happen sooner.

I'd prefer Trump slinging crap on twitter than Japan, where you are, slinging radiation across the globe which threatens millions of people, never mind wildlife.

But different strokes, eh?
