Styxhexenhammer666, self described Satanist and Libertarian youtube dude describes why Communism is dumb. Also it's nice to see the NYT finally admit what they really are and what they really want. The NYT article is subscriber only so no sense in linking it. The basic jest is that the Soviet Union created womens rights or something. Oddly as a armchair Russofile, I know this to be completely insane. Anyway, I love this commentary on the issue and it's very nice to see a whuppersnapper explain the problems with the whole romance of communism in such an articulate and entertaining way. Enjoy.

False.

Also false. Not to mention that the OpEd is about China, not the USSR.

When historians researched the collectivization of the Chinese countryside in the 1950s, an event believed to have empowered rural women by offering them employment, they discovered a complicated picture. While women indeed contributed enormously to collective farming, they rarely rose to positions of responsibility; they remained outsiders in communes organized around their husbands’ family and village relationships. Studies also showed that women routinely performed physically demanding jobs but earned less than men, since the lighter, most valued tasks involving large animals or machinery were usually reserved for men.

Damnit! I looked and hit a roadblock. Ah well, go ahead and listen to the guy and tell me what you think. Also, I am pretty sure that whether about the Soviet Union or China, the rights of women wasn't the first thing on any of their minds.

So, please listen to the presenter in this case, not me. I am on vacation and about half dumb with adult beverages. Besides, if I gave disinfo, this is the disinfo board. :-)

People associate communism.. with communism with dictators.

I think communism could work if it was a true Democratic communist set up without a central leader, and instead, an elected council with equal representation.

Yeah , I was told by my Civics teacher (a long time ago) that pure and true Communism would be the best style of government.
There was an entire movement based on Communism (communal living) in the 70s
Unfortunately , folks are greedy and corrupt.

Here's an article about the NYT story.

"Opinion about an Opinion"

New York Times publishes probably its worst op-ed for 2017

Take, for example, an op-ed published this week by the New York Times headlined, "How Did Women Fare in China's Communist Revolution?"

The main thrust of the article, which is little more than a shameful bit of apologia for Mao Zedong, who is personally responsible for more than 45 million deaths, is that Chinese women were liberated by the country's great and murderous Cultural Revolution.

Doesn't have much to do with the OP, or the NYT OpEd.

No. That is not the thrust of the article. By a long shot.

Well the OP called out NYT for " showing who they really Are" then posted a video of a guy who explains "why it's dumb... essentially displaying only negative connotations with communism.

I was simply saying that it's not fair to do so, because I believe I can be done right it just hasn't been.

If I am not mistaken, Karl Marx and Mao both realized that no form of government, communism or otherwise, would ever be perfect and therefore the country must be in a constant state of revolution. Always pushing what works and tossing out that which does not. Always progressing forward.

Communism and simple socialism can and does work. We witnessed that in WW2, but it is imperfect and must be progressed by adding ideas and elements that further the betterment of society, which may actually come in conflict with communist ideals.

The New York Times has worked pretty hard in the past to hide the atrocities of communism.

About 20 million people died at Stalin’s hands. About 60 million died at the hands of Mao. In total, Communist regimes worldwide have killed about 100 million people over the last 100 years. It appears The New York Times hasn’t learned anything. It still serves as Communism’s loudest apologist.

The NYT even had a Moscow bureau chief as a ghost writer during Stalin's rule to whitewash all the evil happening because of Stalin and communism.

So in other more simplified terms, communism must always be fixed and repaired because it is broken from the get-go. It might work, but people will die. Okay, thanks for the heads up.

Or any other form of government as well. They are all broken and must be constantly fixed and repaired.

Even Thomas Jefferson said that a rebellion is a good thing, as it healthy for democracy.

Kind of like paying taxes in the US.

Someone doesn't want to play along, it has to be enforced.
