Look I do not know who is responsible and the Soviets certainly DID create such technology (and used similar that caused nausea on the staff of the US embassy in Moscow) but guess what so did the CIA, you catch my drift, there were a lot of people in the state's including some with link's to or inside some of the intelligence and military whom did not want the US - CUBAN relations to thaw, it was bad for business.

I shall leave it there.

The tech was provided by Russia. They have used it before. The perpetrators were hardliners in Cuban intelligence who want the United States out because opening relations will open the door to neo-colonialism., a betrayal of the Revolution. The interesting question is how will the Trump administration respond? Will he roll back the diplomatic advances made by Obama, whether out of spite or to appeal to his base, or will he overlook the incident in the hope that he might one day be able to build a casino there?

I would not blame a Nation for this, this was a criminal act by a group, were they originated and what there game is though is another matter, it could have been Russia to keep Cuba on side fearing a degradation in there own relations if the US became too economically important to the Cuban's.
It could be hardliner Cuban's as said by DWJ001 whom also did not want there country getting into bed with the US corporations and undoing there revolution.
It could also be US based entity's that also do not want the US becoming friendly with Cuba because it also interferes with there own plan's for a great number of reason's, bad for business for them in there specific endeavor's and they do not want the old boogy man gone just yet.

Having an embassy to use as a base for espionage purposes would be good for business. The o ly winner in this scenario is Cuban hardliners. Even the Russians have nothing to gain.

I saw the news story, but haven't really followed it. I mean as was asked, who benefits? The Cuban government wants to resume relations with the U.S. Cuban hardliners, much more likely as you mentioned. I don't see Russia involved in the actual incidents...other than probably providing the equipment years ago. I'm sure they don't mind someone poking the U.S. in the proverbial eye though.

As people have mentioned, the tech itself is old. Maybe they used newer stuff, but the ability has been around a long time.

But there is also the possibility that another country, unfriendly to the U.S.gvt did it. IMHO that's just as plausible.

Yep .... Russia was also responsible for the escalator crashing in Rome yesterday ...
The funny thing is : Killer escalators are part of old B-movies from Hollywood, but nothing like that ever happened in the US.

Secret Brain-frying Microwave Technology

the mainstream press freaked out over the super secret Russian microwave technology that was frying diplomats brains in Cuba. Well, it turns out that

This is only happening with American embassy staff in cuba, russia and china. If Russia had of invented some sort of new sonic weapon why only use it against Americans? This makes no sense.

My guess is that the Americans have developed some sort of router encryption technology or wifi signal evadibbg technology that they're using at those embassies, and that this technology is affecting their own staff.
