It's national poetry day today in the UK, the theme is 'freedom'.

Here's one I've written today called "With Love".

I set off on a journey,
So I could learn from me.
I didn't have a clue about the man I'd like to be.
For years I walked the right way,
Until I found appeal,
In things that are illusory,
The 'truth' ashroud in mystery,
But mirrors, smoke, debauchery,
Were all that I could feel.

Apart from Love.

I thought that I'd known love before,
But when I saw Her I was sure
I hadn't.
A hole was dug into the floor,
I heard a crow say 'Nevermore',
A rabbit came and beat me sore
because I'd knocked on Heaven's door.

An instant, went from rich to poor,
Beholding God's first thought I saw,
Myself.

And I was no man.

Of course, Ego said otherwise.

My Inner Woman leapt
knowing I'd met Her Reflection.
Jet black hair and deep blue eyes,
Porcelain complexion.
Rose red lips and cheeks to suit,
I kneel in genuflection,
To put a ring upon Her hand,
The ring must be a wedding band,
My Inner Self on reprimand
back then She knew I wasn't man.

Apart from Love.

I never found the time for the question to arrive,
An ill-drawn 'man' or younger version sings.
The truth is there, the truth is here and You Were Right, that much is clear,
and I Was Wrong, and I clip my own wings.

With lust.

Through all of this long journey,
From knowing You to not,
My mind's made many vagaries,
But then I started Alchemy
and visions and imagineries
brought Your Gold out of rot.

The Queen within Her Kingdom.
The King that is the Beast.
White silver dress and I in red,
September ninth when we were wed,
Among the stars,
The earth was close beneath.

She told me:

"Although they are called 'vices',
And the clue is in the name,
You didn't think they held you back,
And others thought the same."

I said, 'I thought I'd find a track,
To short cut to a true life hack,
It turned out I was just a spack.'

"And others thought the same."

'And others thought the same?'

"It's time to up your game.

With Love."

With Love

I set off on a journey,
So I could learn from me.
I didn't have a clue about the man I'd like to be.
For years I walked the right way,
