Trump addresses criticism over Puerto Rico disaster response: 'It's out in the ocean — you can't just drive your trucks there'
Gonna be quick because I posted this too early. Trump started out by defending his lackluster response to helping PR by declaring there is an ocean between us and the island.

"This isn't like Florida where we can go up the spine. This isn't like Texas where we go right down the middle and we distribute," Trump said. "This is a thing called the Atlantic Ocean. This is tough stuff."

No #. Of course. That means you need to prepare more thoroughly. We had plenty of time to get ready, but Trump cares more about tweeting about the NFL than helping these people.

man... Talking about football instead was STUPID.

Totally right,

Just last night a military man said there isn't enough being done, there is also a dispute as to how many containers from FEMA are actually there. Sure they may be some people taking advantage on the island, but if there is a need for more helicopters for instance, they should be there, and the military man says there isn't given the nature of the problem.
Then there are those tweets..when there was little action,

Can you see what he is doing there...Oh! PR owes the banks in big doodah...Texas, Florida...doing great!

What he doesn't say is that Texas and Florida are also billions in debt, more than twice as much as PR...but their 'fine'

What he also doesn't mention at all..since it would be bad for his ego, is that $33million of PR's debt is from one of his failed 'partnership' golf courses that went bankrupt. This man cares not for anybody except himself and his imagined prestige, and should be kicked out somehow. Yuk, he's disgusting.

What I want to know is, given the scope of the crisis in PR, why wasn't the National Guard on the ground day 2? They could have been doing S&R, providing security, and distributing crucial supplies.

Why didn't we shoot the hurricane with a energy laser and disrupt it?

because people don't give 2 #s about the 'future'.

They are hedonists until they die, probably soon.

Star and flag. He should just stay out of the NFL and worry about real problems. especially now what damage he could do to the NFL he has done.
What damage HE can do to the NFL? Sheesh it had nothing at all to do with leftist protests now did it....
There's a difference between the time it takes to compose a tweet and the logistics of helping an island of hurricane victims but whatever ... FEMA is cra$ anyway since the Cabal reformatted the matrix.

One thing people seem to forget about the problem in Puerto Rico is that the United States proper was hit by two hurricanes itself.

Puerto Rico is a territory, not a member of the United States proper.

The US Government's primary responsibility lies at home.

Yah all these people yelling about the evil Trump but Rush said some reporter was there on the island with CNN camera crew in tow and why couldn't they give their own lunch away to the starving people there or use CNN helicopters to transport the people... it's because CNN don't give a cr$& except for ratings With leftists

Holy Crap.

We have jailed Puerto Ricans for trying to achieve independence from the USA.

We OWN Puerto Rico..and real live people live there. They even have a disproportionate number of US Veterans.

They ARE our responsibility. We have fought to keep it that way.

Holy sh87!! The disconnect..

Trump is President of the United States of America, FEMA and Disaster Response are his responsibility.

Your reply is hey...how about that reporter give someone their sandwich! Problem solved!

You can't be this ignorant on purpose?

They keep voting down statehood. They don't want to be a member of the United States until they need money and help.

We should act accordingly.

2012 and 2017..

Both referendums voted for statehood.

What nonsense are you inventing above?

That's the problem. The clock was ticking before the hurricane hit. Knowing that this was a massive disaster moving in slow motion, Emperor Snowflake did next to nothing except to tweet out some BS about PR's debt. Seriously...........how incompetent does he have to be before the cultists realize it?!?!? And, don't BS me with the 17,000 troops; most of them just arrive or are in the process of arriving. They are not set up yet; something they should have been doing several days ago.

Again, it will take a few more days before construction equipment and more fuel arrives. It will take several more days to clear the stuff off the roads and get to the interior of the islands. By that time, who knows what the state will be of those people that have not had water/food for 3-4 weeks. This is an absolute disaster caused by yet again, Right Wing incompetence.....this time it will be worse than Katrina.

In the meanwhile, your Orange Monkey will continue to tweet about the NFL. Nice.

There are 17,000 soldiers and aid workers in PR right now, with ships waiting at the ports to offload supplies. It's not going to be fixed overnight, it's going to take some time

And if Maria had taken a different track, you'd be complaining about the logistical cost of moving that equipment for a hurricane that didn't come. Same old blah blah bs.

Also, California sucks, which is why everyone that can leave do so. And stop virtue signaling.

LOL! You guys always try to paint everything you don't like as "leftist". Protesting issues in this country is what makes this country great and it always has. Sometimes you have to ruffle feather to do it. And yeah if Trump tells his supporters to boycott the NFL, that is tampering because they WILL do it. A president should never interfere with a private company like that. As a CEO Trump should know this. If the NFL starts losing revenue they can probably sue Trump.

Statements like this are why people are so divided. This whole "me first" attitude. So because it's a "territory" and not a state that means they don't count as the US and we shouldn't put equal resources into helping them? That's nonsense. This is why people are protesting the flag. Worshiping a flag is the essence of nationalism and it divides us from the rest of the world. The whole idea that a land mass is more important than the human race as a whole is very divisive. We need to stop thinking in terms of us vs them. It should just be US, as in all of us. We are all here together.

PR has voted several times NOT to join the USA.
While we should help them out it should not be at the ecpense of those who actually pay taxes.
If they hadnt let tbeir island become the craphole it was before the natiral disaster they wouldnt be in this situation.

Did you miss the "we had TWO hurricanes hit the mainland" part? I think, yes.

I know people like to think we're an octopus, always having a couple of arms free, but that isn't the case.

Inevitably, we will not be able to help everybody. That discussion is for a separate thread.

It's commentary on how the Left operates. If they want to criticize they can just back it up with their superior ideas.
