That's not a "European Army" that's "the army of a European country." Bit of a difference. The EU is not the Fourth Reich in a Groucho nose and specs.

We knew it, didn't we. A European military force that would crush any local dissent with out of town soldiers.

www.bbc.co.uk...

The French president has called for a joint EU defence force . . .

Stuff that.

Just like the Romans used to do, nothing new under the sun...

The EU has not invaded and forcibly subdued a square inch of anyone's territory. If the nations of 2,000 years ago had been invited to join the Roman Empire and enter into mutually-beneficial arrangements with Rome, including representation in the Senate, you might have a point.

I don't think there will ever be an EU army. They are too busy using Nuclear Weapons against former African colonies. For example, former British colony of Ghana was bombed yesterday by obviously EU and British weapons.

This is very true. There are clearly no "Groucho nose and specs" involved.

Edited to add: Also, seeing as the modern world is all about "reboots" rather than "sequels", I think they're going with the term "MerkelReich".

What am I missing here? Why is this such a horrible idea? How is this worse than 50 western states having a united military?

Honest question.

It's not a horrible idea. It's actually a great idea, It's just Brexiters couldn't tell their arses from their elbows and good deal from a bad one.

Everything Europe to them is bad and the worst part is, they hope it fails. They better hope for all our sakes it never fails.

Two world wars down and they still dont get it.
