About a year ago there were all kinds of ATS members complaining about how political correctness was "ruining our country", now today (thanks to the media handing it to us on a silver platter) those same members are calling for football players to be fired or suspended for not standing for the national anthem.

Does anyone see the irony in this? A year ago being PC was the bane of America's existence, today being non-PC (kneeling for the anthem) is a huge deal to those same people.

This isn't about the kneeling, it's about people being wilfully ignorant to their own hypocrisy.

And I'm sure there are members who were all for PC back then but against it now.

Also, I'm sure everyone remembers what members were complaining about political correctness constantly, I don't need to dig through a years worth of posts to find one example, use your noggin and just remember it yourself. You were here back then.

Which is exactly why they distract us with non-issues. Nothing ever changes and people seem to be all about fighting over things that have no consequences or purpose.

So you're saying racial inequality is a non issue?

I definitely agree but I've seen instances of SJW-behavior and political correctness that doesn't hit ATS (mainly because it's petty, but nonetheless exists).

Without going into detail, I've seen Steam communities boycott and rail games for having "SJW feminist propaganda," when the game is a walking simulator and there's no things mentioned to be found in the game.

I've seen people boycott fast food restaraunt based on said fast food franchises policies.

I've seen people (and this was back in the early 2000's) demand that video games be censored because of violence and the likes.

I've seen TV shows demand to be taken down, and demand them to be put back up. Music videos. Statues.

People will always find something to be offended about. After watching John Wick 2, I remember reading a review about how it's "the equivalent of gun porn and is a disgusting culture," - well, don't go and see the film because I thoroughly enjoyed my gun porn. I try my best to avoid animals when I'm driving, I hit a bunny not too long ago though. Little dude ran right out and I felt and heard the thumps... broke my heart. I felt so bad, but violent films and video games are great haha.

It's when people get offended over Americans exercising their Consitutional rights in a peaceful and silent demeanor that I find it to be somewhat worrying.

To be fair, I find some stuff to be offensive. My girlfriend and I saw that Fist Fight film and I was blown away by how absolute #e that film was. I wasn't offended, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I once saw a guy get a Diet Coke and mix it halfway with Mountain Dew: Code Red. That nearly triggered me into a stroke, if I'm being honest.

One sec, I got you

ETA: Here's a good thread

I'm not going page to page to cite specific examples, I've already read the thread, and I'm not your teacher - you're here to deny ignorance, not be spoon-fed. The OP is very well written, and makes multiple valuable points.

Here's i thread I actually authored.

Even I have spoken out against political correctness, here.

Another good thread.

I mean, I could continue to use the search function to post an endless stream of links to previous ATS threads describing what the OP has described (and to see those claiming "anti-PC," now embracing PC - just look at the recent football threads, I don't think a link is required tbh).

Like I said, I could go on and on, but I already feel as if I've wasted enough off my time.

No, kneeling during the national anthem is a non-issue, transgender bathrooms are a non-issue, covfefe is a non-issue... do I need to go on?

All these "issues" over the past year or so and absolutely nothing has changed, just like you said earlier. They're distractions to keep us preoccupied over BS.

The thought occurred to me that if it had of been a bunch of white kids kneeling, Trump would have said how great we are to live in a country where people can express themselves freely.

But since it was a Black guy....."Throw the son of a Bitch out"

Talk about Bigotry.....

Kaepernick is black? He's white too. Perhaps we should stop the signaling while we're ahead...that is unless you'd like to use ignorance to define your Trump strawman.

Well that's an assumption, I don't think Trump said what he did because they were black, he said it to feed the media another divisive talking point (which is also an assumption ironically).

Trump and the media are like bread and butter when it comes to useless and divisive rhetoric. Match made in hell if you ask me. I don't think that's just a coincidence personally, I think it has been set up this way intentionally.

Now watch, in another week or two Trump or the media will say or do something else and this NFL thing will be completely forgotten, yet the trenches will still be that much deeper on both sides. Exactly how the want it.

Word salad when it doesn't agree with your ideology.

And I think you are doing some fancy mental gymnastics to solidify your dogma and religious devotion to you know who, regardless of the truth presented.

For all his faults, racism isn't one of them. You started the strawman, I'm just pointing it out.

In fact, I haven't brought anything to the table that would require mental gymnastics to link together. More word salad. Your truth and actual facts stand at disagreement, to put it frankly.
