Also when bigots lose their job over something they have said, you cry about SJW, PC people, snowflakes and other things but want these people fired for using their first amendment right.

What is the difference?

Considering the NFL has a special tax status, the teams play in facilities built for them with tax dollars (Dallas being the exception), and only can exist in the former the presently do thanks to special dispensation from Congress to not apply anti-Trust laws against them... I'd say there is a large difference and just maybe the players should know their place, STFU, and stick with what they actually know:football.

So football players are stupid and limited to knowledge of football.

Any other high school age stereotypes you want to get off your chest?

Can you imagine even a single one of your football heroes coming to light that you said this anonymously?

Their voice doesn't matter and their only purpose is football?

Need anymore grapes Caesar?

Do Americans not also have the right to disagree with the rationale behind a protest, as well as the right to "take their business elsewhere" when a corporation or industry is backing a protest they/we/you/I/anyone disagrees with?

Get over yourself. Freedom cuts both ways. Just because a group is protesting peacefully doesn't mean they have any right to expect universal support of their cause.

You appear confused and angry.

On one post you are claiming the right to disagree and voice your disagreements as part of your freedom and next you saying people who disagree with you should STFU.

Know their place? Where is your place? Maybe you should stick to whatever crevice you crawled out.

Yet, these rights predate the Constitution. You are simply mistaken. May I suggest you educate yourself on the idea of natural rights?

Anything by Locke, Hobbes, Rousseau, Jefferson, Madison, etc. might do the trick.

The Black slave being flogged in 1850 was legally deprived of his natural rights, which were later acknowledged by the Constitution NOT bestowed by it.

The Constitution was created by a Convention of the States, and was ratified by the States. This is basic knowledge.

Contracts have two parties; the Constitution creates "one thing out of many." The United States was created by the Articles of Confederation which was, wait for it, an agreement among the States. You're making a fairly severe logical error; how could the current government of the United States of America, which as a legal entity is formed BY the Constitution itself, be a party to a contract with "the People"? You're spouting nonsense.

Why don't you cite these alleged interpreters stating that the Constitution is a "social contract"?

Unless the NFL is organized in another country, then the players do indeed have all the rights acknowledged by the Constitution, including the freedom of speech. The owners and clubs, to date, have recognized these rights as well. Do you have any evidence of a player being fired by their team for kneeling? If so, cite it. If not, you're presenting an imaginary situation and dictating its terms.

You're going to have to get on the highway before you need to worry about who is in what lane, chief.

So the players are second-class citizens in your book? Or are they even citizens? You sound like you're talking about your property, not people.

These government interventions into the NFL actually only strengthen the idea that the players are exercising their First Amendment rights, as the NFL is a pseudo-government entity.

I wonder how all those starving in Africa feel about these millionaire crybabies blabbering on and on about how racist America is.

1. So standing up for your fellow man is being a crybaby?
2. So if some black people are successful, those people are not allowed to say that racism exists?

Your argument is totally flawed and ridiculous.

I like America. I like freedom. I like free expression. I even support protest.

But I have no obligation to watch protest.
I have no obligation to listen to protest.

If I go to a strip club, I want to watch naked women get sweaty and dance around a pole to loud music.

I won't go, I'll stop going, if the stripper starts lecturing me on the evils of Trump, or eating meat is murder, or how important global warming is.

It's as simple as that.

It's really just guys kneeling silently. It's two minutes at the most before a 2 + hour event.

You are interpreting it as a political act; you are spoiling your own enjoyment.

Watch or don't watch; that's your right.

As "people of color", they've done pretty well for themselves.

Is there some reason you believe that "people of color" shouldn't make a lot of money from their efforts?

Do tell.

'2+ hour'? Have you watched an NFL game lately? It's like 3, closing in on 4, hours of sheer agonizing boredom these days filled with all the advertisements for every product I'll never need. That's why I haven't been able to watch a full game in years.

I didn't watch yesterday.

And my life didn't end.

Nor were the advertisers pounding on my door begging me to come back.

*shrug*

I'm just glad I still have enough freedoms left to choose to watch or not watch.

I'm glad you have those freedoms too. Just like the players, and the folks they're acting in solidarity with.

Isn't America great!

We don't have this problem in Ca. In fact things are so good for everyone ,we are giving non citizens a place in line over citizens . Along with half price entry all the way to free in some cases . Maybe someone needs a better PR co. Personally the right thing to do would be to stand then take a knee afterwards.

Good point. I haven't watched a game on TV recently. I know, like most things in our society, its driven by commercialism.

No pun intended.

One thing many people are missing is that ratings have been going down for the past few years prior to this anthem fiasco. Professional sports have bigger problems looming.

I will stand for the national anthem at every opportunity to protest black on white murders, black on white rapes, black on black violence, black on police violence, and single parent black families.

You know the real issues in the black community that not one of these privileged 1% dare address.

I have been away awhile and recently returned to ATS. It was a bit shocking to see the lack of civility and the alt-right, hypocritical, misguided, all for me and the rest be damned, sentiment that had infected the board. Now, I get it. Posts like yours help set the standard for exchange.

You'd win in a limbo contest for sure. How dismissive you have become of other opinions.

So, tit for tat, what's your day job? Maybe you should stick with only commenting on those topics, per your own advice.

I find your comments unworthy of this site and in no way could you be accused of leading by example.

Since its allowed, you STFU.

What is wrong with you?

Did a football player steal your girlfriend/boyfriend in high school? You mad?

Honestly ATS, if this post is emblematic, we have a bigger problem than I thought.

Raise the bar, dude. At least professionally.

Personally, you can be as big a jerk as you choose, and clearly you have chosen.

They should STFU and know their place? Do you really believe that or are you just trolling?

Honestly. Eat soap.

Peace
