I'm sure they do know what they're kneeling for. These are young adults not infants. Patronize them and deny them their rights. Shining example of freedom right there. Way to go pop.

Yes let's unite against the son of a bitch.

It's okay for him to call players mother's bitches I guess what's good for the goose...

We should all take a knee when they play the anthem. Until they make this a country for ALL Americans not just the white ones.

Hahaha!

Only you would think the phrase sob is literally calling someone's mom a b***h.

My bus driver in high schools used to call us son of a guns all the time.

Guess I should let my mom know how he offensively called her a gun all of those years.

It's not showing disrespect. It's the same thing people do to pray or ask for someone's hand in marriage. How in hell is it disrespectful? They are making a statement that the country is not equal when it comes to race and it should be.

There are posts saying players should be forced to stand, be deported or serve jail time. Seems some people are cultivating their inner Kim by advocating things that asshole does in his country. If it's wrong over there, it's wrong over here.

Kneeling for the anthem is surely a lesser evil than the three options mentioned above.

Indeed.

Further, none of our founders said a pledge of allegiance; it was an invention in 1887 and 1892 (two iterations of the pledge, the latter is mostly what we know today) in a time when these inventors thought patriotism was declining.

It was originally "to my flag" but changed to "the flag of the United States of America" due to the influx of immigrant children, which is what the pledge was marketed towards - schools - and also to help sales of flags. The form we know today was mostly composed by a Christian socialist, who considered other words but felt our inequalities towards women and blacks meant settling for what we now have.

The words "Under God" of course were added during the Red Scare half a century later.

Interestingly, the Star-Spangled Banner predates the Pledge of Allegiance by more than half a century, yet only became the national anthem in 1931 - until then, the U.S. had no national anthem. The military had made it the song the be played during flag raising in 1889, and it had been played at sports games and other events where flags were raised prior to becoming the national anthem.

What social injustice has suddenly appeared out of no where that is causing this?

I'm tired of these people trying to show me how socially relevant they are.

They realize they will have to keep this sort of protest up for the rest of their lives now, there will always be more to protest about in our ever changing republic.

Let's see the football team take a knee for date rape and trans rights on the football team. Or are they going to be selective in their SJW outrage?

Yes. I find it very annoying.

Why are we being distracted with this crap?

Just stop doing the National Anthem at sporting events and everyone will hopefully shut up about this ridiculousness so we can get more/better info about events that actually matter to human lives.

Trump may have a right to exercise his freedom of speech, but as a leader of the most powerful country in the world, he has a "responsibility" to restrain his immature rhetoric and focus on issues that directly affect American citizens. Commenting and tweeting on non-issues, and bullying people who criticize him is not what a U.S. president is elected to do.

*shrugs* I cannot think of a president in my lifetime that has not done some things I felt they should not, also as has been discussed to death in various threads.

Is it tacky yup, immature sure at times, but there is nothing written saying the president must always be above things they are people they have the same rights and some folks get upset and strike back.

Honestly I do not care much about the protest because it is absurd, roughly 1000 police shootings for like 3 years running out of how many hundreds of millions of police interactions that did not end in death or excessive violence.

But if you watch the press cops are executing people daily by the truck load.

Well, at least Trump didn't call them deplorables. That would be unforgivable.

It wont be long until these people who take a knee out of choice will be kneeling at a foreign soldiers boots by force if America loses the next World War.

Showing disrespect for your country is shameful. Ship them to n. Korea for a month- i guarantee they'd stand up for the anthem when they came back IF they could. United we stand, divided we fall. Let's get over ourselves and accept Trump or at least tolerate him for our countries sake. What you people are doing is not only messed up, it's stupidly selfish and potentially sabotaging the livelihood of others.

How is it "showing disrespect?"

They still have their hand on their hearts. Theyre just kneeling.

They are protesting injustices. You think they should leave and find a new country then?

How does that make sense? Wouldnt you rather make this country BETTER?

If you move into or are born into a really nice house, but one day the downstairs toilet overflows... would you buy a new house and move? Or would you just have it fixed?

Exactly.

What injustices are they protesting? I'll wait.

I bet the parents and spectators in the stands were appalled. I would be. No way my high-school son would kneel.

It is so crazy how you flag worshipers don't even realize how programmed you are by the government. It started in school and now you are probably programming your child to do the same.

The government is why I had to buy "Breast Cancer Awareness" pink socks and wristbands for my high-school football player. (There's a thread on it in the RANTS forum.) Overpriced neon crap that has done nothing to prevent breast cancer.

Nah... I don't worship the government.

WATCH: NFL players, coaches and owner take knees and lock arms at London game in defiance of Trump

Getting a jump on NFL games in the United States, players, coaches and one owner either took a knee or locked arms at a game being played at London’s Wembley Stadium early Sunday morning.

The Baltimore Ravens and the Jacksonville Jaguars are playing their game overseas on Sunday and, as the national anthem was played, more players than usual dropped to one knee or linked arms with coaches in a severe rebuke to President Donald Trump who set off a firestorm Friday night after attacking ex-NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

In photos posted to Twitter, Jaguars owner Shahid Khan was also seen locking arms on the sideline with players.

www.rawstory.com...

This is American ideals in action.

Even after Kapernick was ostracized & the orange idiot threatened their livelihoods with his klanazi ignorance, players & coaches defy the hatred of the anti-American rhetoric from the alt-rights idiot in chief to show solidarity with the disenfranchised.

That's America at her finest.

K~

Here's your answer. The players and coaches are being forced to remain in a country that they hate. A country that wouldn't even consider electing a woman or minority to a state-wide, or national leadership position.

To be honest, KNEELING during the National Anthem is more respectful than simply placing one's hand over your heart. Humans kneel during our most solemn, religious moments.

Kneeling is good imagery. It looks like the players are worshipping and respecting the U.S. flag.

If they really want to protest, they should stand erect, cover their eyes with one hand, and hold up their middle finger with the other hand.

Not too bright are they! LOL.
