Should USA have a process and invitation to other Nations to join the USA? I think we should. This would help reduce the tension and stress of immigration. If we had a process where other nations could gradually join the USA if their population wanted too If they willingly want to join the USA, are willing to submit to our laws and constitution we could grow the Nation, improve their way of life and reduce the need for other peoples to immigrate.

Sure, they would be citizens just like all US Citizens. Maybe have a process where they conform and all become US citizens after 50 years of compliance and change.

What do you think?

Maybe not have a year limit...just compliance and acceptance and conformity goals achieved.

You would first need to explain what benefits a nation would have by joining The U.S.

It would mean we wouldn't have to invade whatever country you're presently in to get to our oil.

I don't think so.. They would have to 1St BE a state to join the united ones...

Countries CAN join the United NATIONS... if they ARE a nation/country

That's not accurate. Several of the existing states were not even organized territories when they became states.

Theyd get higher taxes , a failed healthcare system , even more corrupt politicians , a failed education system , thousands more laws and pointless regulations .
But whats all that when theyd be `muricans .

Curious....

Conservative Texas wanted to secede from the US and now they have their hand out wanting us to help them rebuild the Gulf Coast.

Careful what you wish for.....

Perhaps the US should join Other Nations and stop being such a bully....

Back in 80's Britain many believed we were the 51st State , or America's biggest aircraft carrier which ever caught you fancy , now it seems some would like to see that made official as we escape the clutches of a rival federation.

Personally I would not want to join the Union.

As others have explained, we already have a process for it. Wasn't Hawaii a sovereign nation before joining the US in 1959?

But here's the interesting part. Even if other nations joined the US, would their citizens have full rights as American citizens? It sounds like a no brainer, but reality isn't that simple. Take Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is a territory of the US and all of its citizens are automatically US citizens. It even has a larger population than roughly 20 current States. But Puerto Ricans don't have equal rights when it comes to representation in the federal govt. And the same goes for other US territories like Guam and the US Virgin islands.

European countries could become part of the US? Or Australia?
Or Namibia (Nambia, lol)?

So could California, which would probably be worse for the nation.

However, the question of the legality of secession is open.
