Longtime and famous U.S. Congressman John Lewis was at a political conference and was talking about Civil Rights.

He said people need to get rougher and more "extreme" when it comes to seeing something racist.

He said he's generally not a violent person but said he gets so upset sometimes, he wants to take a bullwhip to people who don't shout loud enough !!!

Context is in a video.

He also said he didn't care if they're Black, White, or anything.

Rep. John Lewis Wants To ‘Take A Bullwhip’ To People So They Care About Civil Rights

Democratic Rep. John Lewis said Thursday he sometimes feels like “taking a bullwhip” to people in order to make them care about civil rights.

“It doesn’t matter whether they’re black, or white, Latino, Asian-American or Native American. When you see something that’s not right, not fair, not just, you have an obligation to do something, to say something. They’re just too darn quiet. I really wanna use some other words sometimes,” Lewis told the audience of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Town Hall on Civil Rights in Washington, D.C.

WATCH:

His punchline:

Activists “just need to be radical” and “extreme” in order to fight racism in the United States, Lewis opined.

So if you don't adhere to a certain belief or ideology, you should be beaten.

So people shouldn't have different opinions or beliefs.

Yes, you heard him correctly.

Didn't a poster in another thread just condone "stringing people up on street lights" because of their socialist beliefs? A poster that shares a lot of the same beliefs as you?

"Do as I say and not as I do!"

Perhaps he should be first in line on the receiving end, considering his track record of racial division and predictably frequent false accusations of racism against anyone he disagrees with on a political level.

So John Lewis is a fan of whipping people with a bull whip?

Hmmm. Sounds like he is an OD. Original Democrat.

Where did I say anything like that?

Ok Mr. "string socialists up on the street lights", I don't think you have much room to talk.

I didn't say you, I said another poster, one that is constantly in your threads cheering you on.

I also demonstrated that socialism in politics is a violation of federal statutes in that thread. Care to do the same on the crap Lewis is whining about?

Maybe he and Loretta Lynch can spark a riot in Washington D.C., to get people's attention.

OK Mr. "Look at me, look at me, oh please look at me", care to point me to a federal law that mandates "speaking up loud enough" against ideologies?

I'd say this guy is only using a turn of phrase and is basically saying that people would care if they went through what others have been through.

I don't think he literally meant people should be whipped as I'm sure you wouldn't enjoy seeing people hung from street lights.

An eloquent way to extract yourself from an awkward situation, friend.

Can the same be done to elected officials that circumvent the Constitution?

I'm thinking about that whole cruel and unusual punishment thing right about now, Mr. Representative Lewis.

What makes me that kind of "Mr."? I'm doing the same thing you are, posting my thoughts on an internet forum.

And no awkwardness here, I'm just saying you have no room to talk about someone saying other people should be hurt for their beliefs because you just did the exact same thing in another thread.

I'm sorry . every time I hear that name I have to laugh. John Lewis has forgotten his past and his path in life .
The 5th District is the single most corrupt District in the State of Ga.

Let's be honest here, it's a 50/50 chance that Lewis can even crack a bullwhip, let alone understand how to use one sufficiently enough to not put his own eye out on the back lash. We are dealing with individuals who talk to the expectations of their listeners, not to their own experiences or even their own sanity. (I hope)

John Lewis was arrested and beaten in Selma Alabama during the Civil Rights march with Rev King.

A little righteous indignation can be allowed for, in this case.
