Political rubbish like some monument got vandalised or someone got attacked for being a person - without mounting evidence to prove a conspiracy - not a conspiracy. Hillary said this - Trump did that - Not a conspiracy.

I agree with that. Like a factory assembly line. (GIGO) stands for garbage in, garbage out. You couldn't convince me the 'real' reason certain members do this all the time is because they are doing it for a living, or from an agenda, or because they are minions. After all they have lives too, right? The rewards here for clogging the boards wth 'every single political event' aren't evident, this isn't bitcoin mining.

Maybe a limit on the number of threads certain individuals can start in a given time frame?

I find it easy enough to ignore anything that has Trump, Hiliary, leftist alt this or that ect.

I just wondered if the site had grown to the point where it could split into smaller sections and the respective groupings could survive in their own rights.

Politics has always been a big part of conspiracy discussion but it just seems to be a hell of a lot of bog standard left right bickering and name calling and I am fine if that is what the majority wants ATS to be and I am sure it pays enough bills to keep it going.

It's more of a question of accessibility in an age with differing devices and applications - not as you say stabbing people in the back (now that's a slippery slope!)

Actually, it was in 2008 that ATS became this divisive. Prior to that, most folks were not stuck in the left-right paradigm and were discussing issues from outside that box. It was in the run up to the 2008 election that we were flooded with the partisan posters... one side calling anyone and everyone who dared speak against Obama in any way, shape or form as racist and haters and other leftwing dog whistles. And of course the other side screaming about socialism and communism and all the other right-wing dog whistles.

In the intervening years, we have lost many MANY awesome posters. So awesome that at the time I seldom posted because there was little (if anything) of value that I could add to the conversation. And they were run off by the rude, nasty and often vile comments made by others that makes reasonable and rational discussion impossible. Coincidence? Or as planned and executed?

So here's another conspiracy to ponder: Are posts like yours sincere? Or just one more effort to shut down the national debate and discussion??? In either event, the end result is the same.

Depends what you consider the main page... There really isn't one... It's a personal choice where you bookmark us to click open... It can open anywhere 1St.

Try NEW, RECENT etc... and there are UFO's to RELIGION to POLITICS to WEAPONRY.. to RANTS. etc, etc, etc.

POLITICS is a subjects itself and not off-topic at all.

I don't see any accessibility problem here. You can access other forums quite easily. Hence my objection to you using the phrase "clogging up." Nothing is clogged up.

As for the slippery slope... Knowledge is power. Discussion and debate and dialogue is the means of disseminating knowledge. Deny that discussion and debate and dialogue and one denies knowledge... and power.

You can tailor make ATS to suit your needs using the myATS feature.

It allows you to make it where you only see the forums you are interested in. Does it affect the Firehose (recent) threads list? No.

However, if you look, you'll see a button for "New" in this area....and it will only display new threads in the forums you have picked.

Here is a post showing how to do all this, with pictures:

Here's a picture way of showing what we are talking about.

If you go to your "myATS", it will show what your favorite forums are, and list threads you may have posted (subscribed in):

Hmmm...not much there, so I'll add some favorite forums. First go to the forum's list and find the forums that you like:

Think I'll add the "2012" forum. Click on it and go into it.

If you look at the top of the forum list, you'll see a heart, click on it to make that forum one of your favorites:

If you go back and look at your "myATS" that forum will be listed now, along with the top fine recent postings in it:

Also: if you change your mind, or decide you don't want that forum, you can click on the "X" that I'm pointing at in the above image, and it will remove it.

You can add many forums to your "myATS" and build what ATS you want to see:

Not that hard, pretty easy to do, and allows you to tailor what forums you want to see. And which forums you don't want to see.

It's that simple.

If you think this is bad, you ain't seen nothing!!! Rude? Maybe. Snarky? Definitely. Nasty and vile? Nope. Not even close.

However, I give you kudos for actually addressing and discussing my reply -- more than anyone else with such complaints have done. And you will note that beyond my initial response to your desire to shut me down, I have been quite reasonable and forthcoming. I am quite happy to discuss the issue... I just have a huge problem with those who wish to shut down the discussion.

Can you not understand that?

I believe you because you are willing to discuss it. And I appreciate that. But I do not and will not appreciate efforts to shut up or hide or otherwise marginalize discussion -- of ANY topic.
