In its summary of the cache of mostly Russian-language documents, Wikileaks claims they show how a long-established Russian company which supplies software to telcos is also installing infrastructure - with the government's blessing - that enables Russian state agencies to tap into, search and spy on citizens’ digital activity,

Wikileaks Publishes "Spy Files Russia" Detailing Russia's Mass Surveillance System

Who would have thought Russia, like the US is spying on its citizens. Just like just abut every "civilized" country probably is.

I wonder if this will change anoyones mind who believes wikileaks is a Russian cover?

Is that "long-established Russian company" Kaspersky Labs, by any chance? Just a day or two ago I was reading something about how the US government has ordered that all Kaspersky products be removed from federal computer systems.

In any event, I guess we'll need to rely an Apple and Google to spy on us on behalf of the government

Oh no, are you kidding?

I'm calling it: people will say it's all made up, the Russians threw this together with help of Wikileaks to throw people off the trail. Nothing but false information, blah blah blah. They'll rely on testimony from a single anonymous source, and completely disregard any other evidence brought to the table. lol.

On a more related note, I'm actually surprised this wasn't found out earlier... I actually would've expected Russia to be caught doing this before the US

Who wouldn't of thought this? Russia is notorious for it's secret police.

This would just be an extension.

Of course we knew this was happening. But it is great to see proof.

You have to admit that russian writing looks really cool though. I always think of it as being what the language of demons would look like. no offense to russians. it started when I was very young and I don't remember what made me think of it that way. Probably some US propaganda brainwashed me as a baby...

I don't know about that. This type of surveillance being done by big governments was something most of us already believed was happening. This might be a case of wikileaks themselves are trying to show that they are not as connected to the russians as much as people believe. I bet we see more russian info coming from wikileaks in the next few months.

Lots of public docs are available on Peter-Service's website -- many of which are in English -- for people who want to learn about this company. It looms large in the document drop, so I'm guessing it's more than the telecom billing company it claims to be.

With the CIA's Vault 7 capabilities its a anyone's guess at this point . I don't think even if true it will upset the Russian people in fact I think they feel confident the FSB has a good grip on security knowing whats going on in their country . Putin did create a group of local groups that has direct access to the top in order to cut the local corruption out . Something the US could use I think . Mr. Trump did you know ??? .....Your Fired
