Why are gays, lesbians, transsexual, bi-sexual, and asexual people honored with their own parades every year?

Military personnel mostly don't join the military in desperate search of attention and special treatment.

Meh, why give it a second thought. This will go nowhere, as does every thing else Trump recommends.

I know I don't want to blow money on it, just like I don't want to blow money on his weekend vacations, a stupid wall, or providing millions in secret service security for his adult children.

Insignificant expenditures in the overall scheme of things. Biggest wastes are from government fraud and schemes. Protestors would agree if they weren't part of the problem.

All you nay sayers can go to Canada.

So does that opinion also include the many vets & active personnel who find this idea incredibly offensive/retarded?

Yes.

The back & forth between you & our military posters is going to be epic. I better go make my popcorn.

I honestly would LOVE to see a 4th of July Military parade!
Maybe shoot off some ICBMs,
a few stealth fly overs,
A couple of big bangs..

YEAH!

Oh. Yay.

We can be like China and North Korea. Now there's something to aspire to.
WTG.

Actually, according to the article, it would appear that France is the inspiration behind this... Yes, France.
Timid, Democratic socialist, nuclear superpower, UN hegemony pushing France...

That's a given. Yes, he was talking to Macron when he said it, it was on the news all day. He was only doing his suck-up routine, as he will say anything to get somebody to like him. Sad. Macron will never like him.

Trump also couldn't resist talking about what a lovely dinner they had in Paris. Chocolate cake? Delicious chocolate cake?
The social aspects of things and food seem to always be on his mind.

i feel like there's not much point in even telling you this, but pride parades originated in a time when gay people had to keep who they were a secret in their everyday life, or face social censure and danger of violence or arrest. and gay people in many communities do still feel they have to keep themselves under wraps. pride is a day to be themselves, freely.

i don't know how you can even compare it to the notion of having a day to celebrate 'the military' -- which will really just be about some big dick, look at our tanks posturing so president play-actor can feel like a big rough rootin-tootin cowboy.

you want to celebrate troops, bring them home. fund the VA. not this horse crap.

And somehow or other you find a connection between these things? The scouts sometimes have parades too. You wouldn't want to leave the out of your little analogy.

YEP...FRANCE. And you can see President Trump beaming with pride as he salutes the U.S. troop contingent passing the Bastille Day military parade reviewing stand, on 7.14.2017.

That son of a bitch! Damn him and his unpresidential social pleasantries directed as another world leader who hosted him. Didn't anyone tell him he was supposed to grope Macron's wife, piss in the water glasses, wipe his mouth on the table cloth, and then tell the media his dinner tasted like merde, as his cowardly hosts would say?

I don't get it anymore, Angel. Had he avoided the pleasantries, folks would complain that he's uncouth and embarrassing the US. He made a point to be a gracious guest, and people are complaining that he's "sucking up" or stuck up on the meaningless. This is absolutely the definition of someone who can't win with his detractors... so why should he worry in the least about WTF they think at this point?

Yep...scouts too. The point is that a parade can be held for any person, group, or holiday.

Insignificant? Do you know how much we spend every weekend on him? How much NYC spent guarding his residence there? As well as the Federal government? And when his sons,( Beavis and Butthead as I like to call them) go on business trips out of the country? do you KNOW how much we spend? Insignificant? Hardly. It's obscene.

I don't know, I think it's a great ideal. It's pretty much honoring those were in and are in the service. I don't see nothing wrong with. It also honors the President that the service man signed up to honor.

Right. It would be voluntary participation. And I guarantee that there will be MORE THAN ENOUGH volunteers.

That was hardly your point. In no way are these comparable. I hope you realize that now. Oh, and let us know when the federal government pays for gay rights parades, okay? Pfft.

You missed my key words, insignificant IN THE OVERALL BUDGET. More is spent on people who don't deserve to receive food stamps.

COLUMBIA, SC
Despite protests from some religious organizations, the city of Columbia this week again granted public money to the Gay Pride Parade, a growing event City Hall has funded for at least eight years.

City Council granted $47,500 for the Oct. 24 parade, raising to $235,000 allocated to the event during that period from the city’s collection of hospitality taxes on prepared meals, city records show. Funding for the event has grown from $10,000 in fiscal 2009 to $47,500 each of the past two years as the parade has attracted more attendees.

I love the idea of a real, old fashioned, patriotic parade showing our impressive military and include much of our majestic history and many American symbols-plus I adore band music.'

This could really remind our country that we are one-celebrating our many different cultures and their accomplishments and leaders, too.

We've put most of our money into the military-so time to show off a little. If that's "intimidation"-great.

We need to be proud to be American again. Great idea. Totally support it.

All you nay sayers can go to Canada.

MOST of the people who don't support it, are probably those who aren't aware of how beautiful and pride-inducing the modern parades can be, in great nations like ours.

I don't remember Antifa shooting into crowds of people with "live ammo", have I been living under a rock? Antifa are a bunch of assholes and provocateurs but that's not something they've done as far as I know. If they've suggested it then I guess they're no better than the poster who suggested it here.

Jesus Christ...quit your crying...don't you know when someone is being facetious?
Yeah Antifa are a bunch of assholes but I don't condone mowing them down without good reason.

Doubt vets, unless they are bitter, would not enjoy this show of patriotism-might make them proud again. We need to especially show how grateful this country is for those who served-maybe present rewards-and for God's sake fix the vet hospitals. Any vets or active duty that would find this "retarded" already have alot of problems and they are definitely in the minority and need our help.
