Of course Not, Christ had a physical appearance determined by his genetic background as a human being, that made him unmistakable identifiable for his friends as well as for his enemies.

Think on this: who was going to trust into follow a person to death that you don't even identify? well his apostles, disciples and other martyrs did so.

Thanks,

The Angel of Lightness

so before you say he had long flowing hair long beard, all golden blonde, you should Google what archeologists and theologians agree on what the most accurate depiction of christ is...
and please with that definition of what hair is...

An interesting relevant reading.
A little science on hair being an extension of our nervous system.

Hair can also function as insulation against cold. Biologically, long hair is representative of fertility and youth, and being more visual which all contribute to natural selection to some degree. In English history, aesthete's wore long hair, for it was a sign of being artistically wise and intelligent. Examples are the Morivingians and classical musical enthusiasts, as well as artists in other mediums.

Since this has turned mostly in to a discussion about Yeshua, here is a quote from a manuscript which was in the possession of a Lord Kelly which in turn was a copy of the original manuscript written by a Roman governor called Publius Lentulus to the senate:

"A man of stature somewhat tall, and comely, with very reverent countenance, such as the beholders may both love and fear, his hair of (the colour of) the chestnut, full ripe, plain to His ears, whence downwards it is more orient and curling and wavering about His shoulders. In the midst of His head is a seam or partition in His hair, after the manner of the Nazarenes. His forehead plain and very delicate; His face without spot or wrinkle, beautified with a lovely red; His nose and mouth so formed as nothing can be reprehended; His beard thickish, in colour like His hair, not very long, but forked; His look innocent and mature; His eyes grey, clear, and quick- In reproving hypocrisy He is terrible; in admonishing, courteous and fair spoken; pleasant in conversation, mixed with gravity. It cannot be remembered that any have seen Him Laugh, but many have seen Him Weep. In proportion of body, most excellent; His hands and arms delicate to behold. In speaking, very temperate, modest, and wise. A man, for His singular beauty, surpassing the children of men"

The authenticity is debateable.

In my opinion. The only thing that matters is not to be vain about what we look like hair or bodily wise for that matters. We are given what we are given and we ought to clean us on the inside. What does it matter to have a big mansion that looks beautiful on the outside, yet when you walk in everything is in rubble.

Sikhism follows similar traditions of not cutting hair.

Yogi masters of several different religions also grow their hair long.

I believe there is something in it, I have read as much in channeled material too.

You may add Muzzleflash to the list.
My hair has grown to maximum length and hasn't grown any longer in years.

I let it stay long because of Spiritual reasons.

It was so enemy soldiers couldn't grab your hair during a battle. Also perhaps to emulate Alexander the Great, who was short-haired.

little off topic, but this thread made me think of a joke.

a preacher and his just turned sixteen year old son were having a talk about him getting a car.

son: dad now that i'm sixteen and almost a man, i need to get a car.

preacher: well son, a man shows that he is responsible and works for what he gets.
i'll tell you what, if you can do these four things i'll consider getting you a car.

first thing, you have to bring your grades up in school, i'd like to see you making A's and B's instead of B's and C's.
the second thing, you have to find a after school and weekend job, you'll need one to pay for your gas and help pay for your insurance.
and the third, you have to help me and your mother more around the house. we work hard everyday and it's tough for us to come home and do everything around here.
last but not least, son you have to cut your hair, it nasty looking and i just don't like it and i'll pay for it.

son: okay pop i can do those things.
when the next report cards came out, the son came to see his dad all excited.
son: hey dad look here all A's and B's, plus you know i got a job at buger king, and i've been helping you and mom around the house.

preacher: yes son all that's true, but you still haven't got a haircut. that is the least hardest thing of all four and i said i would pay for it.

son: but dad i like my hair and so do all the girls. besides Jesus and his disciples all had long hair.

preacher: yes they did and they walked everywhere they went.

Yes they did. However their warrior clutures were different to others. The Northern Germanic (Scandinavian), souther Germanic (Teutonic) and most of the Celtic people had long hair as a sign of affluence.

The Romans, and to some extent Sparatans valued conformity in their soldiers (and populace in general).

Indeed even the tonsure the Druids were supposed to sport, is different than the Christian Monks, shaved at the front, long at the back (sort of like a hippy going bald
) .

Ok quick and dirty.

The Scandinavian people (the Northern Germanic) and the Teutonic (German) tribes, are all part of the same Indo-European language family. Just like the Gauls, Britons, Cymric (welsh) and Cornish are/were one branch of the Celtic Languages, and the Irish and Scots and Manx were part of the other.

So the Southern Germanic and Northern Germanic are very culturally close. You can see that in their Prechristian practices. The Northern Germanic peoples had influences with the native tribes (particularly the early Finns). The Southern Germanic tribes butted heads with the Celts, Scythians etc.

IF it helps it gets murky, thanks to lazy Romans. The Belgic peoples were a mixture of Gauls and Germanic folks ... the Romans did not really make it clear and people assumed they were all Celtic speaking. Wrongly

Yep Thracian. A close combat weapon (though not short). There are a lot of fun Indo-European tribes out there. Few lasted thanks to the Romans

The Peace of of God to all that belong to the Light,
Dear Readers,

Hair cut is for many question of aesthetics, style, etiquette, social status, profession, sex appeal or ethnical customs, there are many reasons you can imagine to justify the hair cut men have used along history, but it is intriguing why many of the most charismatic, intuitive and mysterious leaders of humanity were long haired men:

- Heracles
- Achilles
- Hermes Trismegistus
- Plato
- Alexander the Great
- Sansom
- Joshua
- Samuel
- Krishna
- Buddha
- Jesus Christ
- Attila
- Erick the Red
- Ghengis Khan
- Charlemagne
- Merlin
- Nicolas Copernicus
- Muhammed
- Christopher Columbus
- Quetzalcoatl
- Leonardo Da Vinci
- Netzahualcoytl
- Wolfang A. Motzart
- Nostradamus
- Isaac Newton
- Tecumseh
- Benjamin Franklyn
- Crazy Horse
- Franz Listz
- Atahualpa
- Frederic Chopin
- Rasputin
- Rabindranath Tagore
- Albert Einstein

Notice that the list include stelar figures of history among mystics, prophets, philosophers, scientists, great leaders, poets , creative artists and composers , that all shared in common their powerful intuitive intelligences or gifted talents.

Well, apparently a research study carried out in the US army about almost five decades ago about a strange sixth sense of Native American soldiers on Vietnam war, that was triggered after smart observations of the correlation in between their outstanding talent to trace enemy positions and feel in advance their movements when they were allowed to preserve their use of long hair, according with their ancestral traditions, and when they were forced to hair cut in the same way that other troops, may give us a very interesting hint:

The hair is an extension of the nervous system, comprised of “feelers” that allow huge amounts of information to be transmitted to the brain and limbic system. It has been found that facial hair in men can have a similar effect. Hair can also emit energy into the world, transferred from the brain, outside of the body, and into one’s surroundings. Evolution has designed the human body to make it seem that our survival skills seem supernatural at times. There is a purpose for everything on and in our bodies, a reason beyond a means for improving self image.

Is this telling to us that also well known traditions that were followed by the hebrews for instance since thousand of years ago, to never shave or cut the hair of the head of prophets and consecrated men, the ones under the Nazarite vow like the prophets Joseph, Samuel and Sansom, was motivated for the same reasons?

Genesis 49:26: "...blessings of the grain and flowers, blessings of the eternal mountains, bounty of the everlasting hills, may they descend on Joseph's head, on the crown of the one dedicated (= or consecrated, nazir) from among his brothers!"

Deuteronomy 33:16b: "May the hair grow thick on the head of Joseph, on the brow of the consecrated (nazir) one among his brothers!"

1 Samuel 1: 9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord.

10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.

11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

Judges 13:5,7
For, see, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

Finally, it seems from a description given by a contemporary of the prophet Muhammed that he also used in the climax of his prophet ministry long hair and beard:

Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib (ra) states:
"I have never seen someone with long hair and red clothing more handsome than Rasullullah (saas). His hair reached his shoulders."103

Any comments you can bring to this thread? it seems an obsession with uniformity, social control or militant discipline in modern western civilization and even other civilizations around the world ( buddhist monks as well as Catholic ones of the latin rite shave their heads in spite that traditional representations of Buddha and Christ always depict them with a abundant mane) has imposed standards in hair dressing for men that are ruled by all possible criteria, but the one that favors the developing of powerful intuition.

Thanks for your attention,

The Angel of Lightness

Some of these men weren't men, they were women.

Long hair and full beards tend to be a sign of vanity.

Full beards and long mustaches help conceal bad teeth, bad complexion, acne scars, wrinkles, blemishes, unbecoming bone structure like a weak jaw line, extreme over bite and their facial expressions. Hair on the head is most certainly not like little antennas. It's more like make up. Just as men like women who have natural beauty and don't wear all the heavy make up, women want to SEE the man's natural handsomeness, not a man drowning himself in hairMascara, hairLiner, hairRouge, hairPowder, hairLipstick.
