Here's how I see capitalism, socialism, communism, any ism.

Call it an "economic model", call it a form of government, call it what you like.

I see it as a barrel. Inside the barrel are apples (politicians, people).

The apples are rotten. So some actually think that putting rotten apples in a different container will get us great and wonderful apples.

Idiots like Bernie Sanders and his loyal followers are convinced that if you put rotten apples in a different barrel (socialism) then the apples will be great!

The only way you are going to get great apples, is NOT by replacing the barrel, but by REPLACING THE APPLES!

That's what I see with all this talk about socialism, capitalism, communism, isms, isms, isms.

Everyone thinks that their "barrel" will make the apples great. But they ignore the fact that you have to have "good apples" to begin with, or else you'll end up with rotten apples and people blaming the barrel again.

Put it another way. . . . if I pour milk in a martini glass, it's not going to be a martini no matter how hard I want it to be. And it's not the fault of the glass, it's the element of what the glass contains.

You want real change?

Don't change the container and hope for something different on the inside.

Change the inside.

Start with term limits for everyone. Congress, local, state, federal, Supreme Court . . . . . everyone.

If we start changing what the barrel contains, then we won't be looking for different containers.

Anyway, just an opinion piece, a rant, an observation.

Amen or Awomen to be PC

Its mind bogling how people cant understand that people with conflict of interest will not fix a system they created and works for them.

Talking about the symptoms of a broken system such as healtcare, taxes, ism, and every issue the msm and the two broken parties try to get you to focus on will not fix a darn thing as been proven.

We need all republicans and democrats to get their heads out of their arse and demand that we only talk and concentrate on term limits, revolving door policy, and lobbying reform.

Nicely put, I agree. In the same vein if you put a good apple in a barrel full of bad apples (hold your tongue while saying apples) the good one will quickly become bad as well.

Trump has been in the middle of bad apples pretty much his entire life, I doubt he's still a good apple (if he ever was one to begin with, which I also doubt).

I partially agree, though I wouldn't say there's no difference. Just like different types of barrels can impart different flavors to drinks, some bitter, some enjoyable. So some are better than others, but nothing made by man is perfect, that is for sure.

But would you want your barrel in a country club, where only the rich and connected have access to it, or in a public venue where everyone can see who's accessing it?

That simply isn't true. Bernie was always talking about replacing the bad apples. If you followed him, you would get occasional emails where he recommended voting for a specific congressman who was in line with Bernie's thinking.

There is such a thing as a barrel being cracked and messed up. You could pour the finest gold into it, but the cracks in the container are still there.

I care less about the container and care more about what the barrel contains.

If you have a piece of poo, then no matter how pretty the box is, it still contains a piece of poo.

Both are important.

Changing the container will not change the contents.

If we have corrupt politicians in our capitalistic economy and we change it to a socialist economy, then we will have corrupt politicians in our socialist economy.

What's wrong with having honest politicians in a more socialist economy?

Get the honest politicians first, then we'll talk.

But for now, I have to leave. Doing a "Habitat for Humanity" project for an elderly couple this morning.

Will be back this afternoon.

Bye!

I see as plutocracy determined to have economic slavery over the workers. And the plutocracy is winning.

But it's all part of God's plan so we are fine.

Put fresh apples into a rusty barrel and the apples will go bad. Both are equally important.

It is usually the container that makes an apple go bad as well. I say we change both the apples AND the barrel.

Bingo. Socialism just changes the power structure to gov't non gov't. I believe in capitalism not because what it has become, but it's initial intent. It allows for an individual to bring about grand change and that's the only sense of freedom that exist in this world. Don't get me wrong these days if you create a great invention you'll either be bought out or sued into oblivion, at least until you're to broke to fight or the patent expires. It's just the "so you're saying there's a chance" mentality that keeps the spirit of capitalism alive in me.

let me ask you since you appear to be pretty party centric.

Would you be willing to temporarily put aside your political differences with the Right and join forces with the individual republicans to demand that the DNC, GOP, MSM ONLY DISCUSS and FOCUS on addressing the following issues:

1. Congregational term limits

2. campaign financing reform.

3. Lobbying reform

4. doing away with super-pacs

5. Revolving door between gov't and private sector

6. True Gov't Transparency

The barrel is the creation of the apples though. There is only rust in the barrel because we allowed for it.

The barrel may have been fine at first but over time it has rusted and made the apples go bad. It's time for a new barrel and a new bushel of apples. No form of government will last forever because every government will end up corrupt. That's human nature unfortunately, we're a greedy bunch.

I think you're wrong.
No matter how rotten apples are if their seed is rotten by nature, we will keep getting the same result.

I'm talking about communism here. It doesn't work, and it will ALWAYS lead to fascism. It's not about the people, it's the ideology that's the issue

Democratic Socialism (Which is what Bernie represents) gives ultimate power to the people. That includes letting individuals bring about grand change, and encourages a spirit of innovation just as much as capitalism, without letting the corporate giant take it over.

I think we the people need to have more say in what goes in the barrel. In other words we need to be voting on the things that affect all United States citizens not just a parties ideology. Take the middle man/big money/lobbyist out of the picture.
P.S. A guy can always dream.
