I saw Darren Aronofskysnew film last night and wss deeply disturbed and physically sick afterwards. It can just make you flirt with the idea of hating humanity.

I don't know how to quite write a review here without giving too much away. See the film if you want to be shocked and constantly confused and frustrated with what's going on. I thought katniss, I mean JLaw did an okay performance. Whenever I see her I see the same character and saw and heard Katniss throughout the film. The film isn't quite like rosemarys baby and has nothing to do with the antichrist/witch cult/vampires. Anything like that.

Spoilers but not really --

There are biblical references all throughout and the film is deeply layered and I enjoyed how you can dissect it in a number of ways. Moonlight was the first film my friends and I walked out of halfway because we were so bored and irritated and I really really would have walked out of mother! if was told what would happen in the last 20 mins of it. Omfg.

This film was clearly written in 5 days by a madman.

Ozzy wrote this?

The trailer looks really good. Is this one of those films that put the best parts in the trailer and the rest sucks?

Is the last 20 minutes a let down? Is that what you mean? I have not seen it yet. Tell us more please (without spoiling).

people need new levels of gore and horror to distract them for their boring reality. Every time they make a new movie they have to out do themselves or risk 'losing' at the box office.

What a real nightmare that must be.

And it doesn't have to be. Jaws was scary as hell at the time and you don't even see the shark until halfway through. Too many Rob Zombies and not enough Hitchcocks these days.

The last 20 mins were incredible. Complete chaos. Omg you'll be blown away. Complete Soddam and Gomorrah.

Youve been warned.

Yes! You'll wonder what boundaries are going to be crossed and pushed after this film, even though it's not that bad. I think audiences were blown away because we walked in without knowing anything about the film and what to expect. And let down only because the film has a clear explanation in the end, but is littered with different layers and metaphors.

Great! I love crazy movies. The crazier the better. This one sounds like a good one. Thanks for the heads up. I'll look forward to watching it, firstly as a cam dodgy version you can hardly see or hear and then a few months down the line I'll get to see it in all its HD glory, glory Hallelujah!

Not at all. Nothing is in the trailer. You really feel JLaws pain and frustration. The best is in the movie. The movie felt like it was 3 hours long.

Wow, this is getting better by the second. Excited. Also, stuck in the UK that is a million miles behind the States. They do make us wait. Thank heavens for the dodgy cam versions strewn across the movie sites.

Its somewhere between "Dogtooth" and a "Serbian Film" in shock value, for me at least.

Sort of realized I dont like Goreporn as much as psycothrillers which leave more to the imagination.

Whats scarier than your own imagination?

I feel for you. But try to get a nice hd version if you can. Wait for it. The colors and cinematography is a huge portion of the films experience. I could foresee the horror just by seeing the light and colors change on jennifer lawrences face as she walked throughout the house.

Sooo...is it horror or supernatural? We are trying to decide to see either this or IT this weekend. You can't really tell from the commercials which genre Mother falls into.

That kind of creepy unseen monster movie will never sell again. People feel cheated. They demand it right now, up front in yo face.

You do understand the reason Spielberg kept the shark hidden was because the damn thing never worked?

As far as good 'hidden' monster movies , The Hidden and original Fright Night come to mind. Despite Arnie, Predator was also good.

ETA: And who could forget Phantasm?

Also the movie Alien. You spend most of the movie wondering what the hell this thing is, and what all can it do.

Sarrandon was awesome in that.

Mother is supernatural in the way Black Swan and the Fountain are supernatural. It's a dark dramatic film with supernatural elements. I saw the new It too and that's definitely horror and a good experience too. A lot of people weren't impressed with It's scares and probably wouldn't leave with such a strong reaction than with mother. I'd see mother now while it is fresh and don't read anymore reviews and just see it and then see It another time.

After Alien(s) everything else was franchise. So it goes with most other 80s hits.

Nyah , nyah, I saw most of these in theaters first run, what times the 80s were.

Shoutout, in no particular order to, The Keep, Blade Runner, The Thing, Near Dark, Repo Man, They Live, Terminator, Altered States, Life Force, Brazil, and about a hundred others.
