The Guardian is a liberal tabloid. It's no BBC.

I'm sure somebody wrote those words for her. Because, when she had to think on her feet, so to speak, use her own head, she didn't say anything like that at all.

Melania Trump Compares Her Husband To A Teenage Boy After Vulgar Comments

"Sometimes I say I have two boys at home," she said. "I have my young son and I have my husband. I know how some men talk and that's how I saw it."

During her interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, the GOP candidate’s wife was asked about Trump’s comments, with Melania Trump complaining that Trump had been “egged on” by Bush, and that she had never heard him speak that way.
“I heard many different stuff — boys talk,” she told Cooper.
“The boys, the way they talk when they grow up and they want to sometimes show each other, ‘Oh, this and that’ and talking about the girls. But yes, I was surprised, of course.”

Those words set people off.

Funny thing about Trump's so-called "bullying"... most of what I've seen called "bullying" on the part of Trump is a direct response -- albeit an insulting response -- to the initial insults of others to him. That's not bullying. That's a level playing field.

BS! Trump thrives on thinking up insults and blasting degrading and dignity ripping barbs and slurs across the internet and the media!

Spousal abuse? Really??? Do tell...

You're sure about that, huh?

Because, when she had to think on her feet, so to speak, use her own head, she didn't say anything like that at all.

She didn't say anything like that at all, huh? Nothing like this, for example:

AC: It was 10 days ago that Access Hollywood released that tape, I'm wondering when you first saw it, when you first heard it, what did you think?

MT: I said to my husband that the language is inappropriate, it's not acceptable...

And nothing like this either, right?

AC: He described it as locker room talk, to you, you've sort of alluded to that, is that what it is to you as well? Just locker room talk?

MT: Yeah, it's kind of two teenage boys, actually they should behave better, right?

Source: Transcript of Melania Trump Interview with Anderson Cooper

Hmmm... funny that your link didn't mention that, eh?

And since we do have the verbatim transcript to refer to, so we don't have to rely on the questionable paraphrasing of the author of your link, let's just go ahead and put this statement --

During her interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, the GOP candidate’s wife was asked about Trump’s comments, with Melania Trump complaining that Trump had been “egged on” by Bush, and that she had never heard him speak that way.

-- into context. From the transcript:

MT: ...And as you can see from the tape, the cameras were not on. It was only a mic, and I wonder if they even knew that the mic was on, because they were kind of a boy talk, and he was led on, like egged on, from the host to say dirty and bad stuff.
AC: You feel the host, Billy Bush, was sort of egging him on?

MT: Yes. yes.

AC: Is that sort of language you've heard him use before?

MT: No, no that's why I was surprised because I said like, "I don't know that person that would talk that way," and that he would say that kind of stuff in private. I heard many different stuff, boys talk, the boys that the way they talk when they grow up and they wanna, sometimes show each other oh this and that and talking about the girls. But, yeah I was surprised, of course. But I was not surprised that the tape came out. I was not surprised about that.

It was a statement of fact -- nothing that could be construed as a complaint. She didn't say, "It's all Bush's fault!" She didn't say, "Bush made him say it!" Nor was it even the point she was making, but merely background information for her point, which is that she "wondered" if they even knew they were being recorded at the time.

Those words set people off.
www.rawstory.com...

Well, no surprise there... some people are set off quite easily these days. Melania stated that she believed Trump was "egged on" by Bush. In no way did she excuse the "locker room talk;" again, she simply stated it as a fact. She didn't make up men talking dirty about women, nor did she coin the phrase "locker room talk" for it.

1983: Sex and Makeup “Men have been talking about sex in locker rooms since they were 14. While women were discussing ‘feminine’ things — makeup, relationships, feelings —men were doing the manly things — counting conquests, keeping score.” (Redbook, 1983)

1991: Women as Objects “Conversations that affirm a traditional masculine identity dominate, and these include talk about women as objects, homophobic talk, and talk that is very aggressive and hostile towards women.” (Sociology of Sport Journal, 1991)

Source: A Brief History of the Evolution of Locker Room Talk

Acknowledging it for what it is commonly known as is just stating a fact. However, Melania went further and condemned it as unacceptable and offensive and said that they should behave better... didn't she?

And she certainly isn't the first wife to refer to her husband as a big kid: Mom Rant: Stop Calling Your Husband Your Biggest Kid

BS! Trump thrives on thinking up insults and blasting degrading and dignity ripping barbs and slurs across the internet and the media!

It would certainly seem so. And I never said otherwise. So where's the BS? Oh! Never mind... I know... it's where you completely ignore the crap others spew about him first.

That's your proof for spousal abuse? Really? Okay. Just for kicks and giggles, let's pretend that you know Melania's heart and mind better than she does --

We always have a great marriage and strong relationship, and he said many times that I'm a rock for the whole family. And yes we are very strong. We are two independent people thinking on their own and have a very open conversation, and I think that's very healthy for the relationship.

-- so how sure are you? Are you just as sure that this video is showing what you want it to show as you were that somebody "wrote those words for her, because when she had to think on her feet, so to speak, use her own head, she didn't say anything like that at all?" Are you THAT SURE???

Because we all know how that turned out

Well, I think its 3 times now that she's been accused of plagiarism. But, her team always blames her speech writer. So yeah, pretty sure!

said to my husband that the language is inappropriate, it's not acceptable...

LOL, right, sure she said that to her husband! LOL

Yes, she's making excuses and blaming others for her husband's "bad boy" behavior.

MT: ...And as you can see from the tape, the cameras were not on. It was only a mic, and I wonder if they even knew that the mic was on, because they were kind of a boy talk, and he was led on, like egged on, from the host to say dirty and bad stuff.

Her concern was that Donald didn't know he was being recorded when he said those foul things. She's complicit at best, an enabler at worst.

There is nothing, NOTHING, redeeming about ex porn star turned Stepford Wife, Melania Trump, as first lady. She's walking hypocrisy, a terrible role model for young women and bad news for women's rights.

That's your proof for spousal abuse?

It's an example. There are plenty of videos of Donald disrespecting her, and plenty of records of him disrespecting women in general.

How freaking pathetic. The one who is sooooooooooooo concerned about hurting "women" just can't stop blaming the wife for the husband's bad behavior.... and refusing to give credit where credit is due.

Gotcha.

That's right! I know complicit enabling when I see it. Melania Trump is setting women's right back to the 1950's!

Please. Now I'm just pitying you. And I hate that.

Melania doesn't have that power. Period. She stepped up to the plate and called out the bad behavior for what it is, publicly and unequivocally. Melania has said and done far more than any other politician's wife in a similar position, and as much as she can do. At no time have you stated anything more that she could have done, or anything that she could have done better. Nor have you offered any politician's wife as a better example of how she could have done better.

And we both know that there are plenty of examples of other women who have done far less or nothing at all or outright attacked and bullied and intimidated the victims of their husband... but you somehow hold Melania responsible for the bad behavior of her husband... bad behavior that took place more than a decade ago!!!

Absolutely freaking pathetic. YOU are doing more to hurt women than Melania has ever done.

She's the 1st Lady, she has a lot of power!

She stepped up to the plate and called out the bad behavior for what it is, publicly and unequivocally.

She supports her husband and his bullying tactics unequivocally!

Melania has said and done far more than any other politician's wife in a similar position, and as much as she can do.

Now I feel sorry for and pity you!

At no time have you stated anything more that she could have done, or anything that she could have done better. Nor have you offered any politician's wife as a better example of how she could have done better.

It's not my job to advise Melania Trump on how to be a role model for young women, everywhere. It seems the ex porn star turned Stepford Wife has plenty of handlers to do just that!

YOU are doing more to hurt women than Melania has ever done.

Oh okay! Melania doesn't have that power, but I do?

I'll say it again, hypocritical Melania Trump is effectively pulling women's rights and struggles for equality back to the 1950s. And, not in a good way!

Say it all you want... doesn't make it true.

And here's the proof in the pudding: If you really and truly believe that Melania is "hurting women" and "pulling women's rights and struggles for equality back to the 1950s," then you would be that much more outraged about what Hillary did when faced with even worse accusations against her husband, and you would be thanking everything sacred that we got the lesser of two evils. Because it's impossible to believe that about Melania without also believing it about Hillary.

And whatever power you think Melania has as First Lady, Hillary had at least as much power during her time as First Lady, and would have had even more power as President if she had won instead of Trump.

So keep talking trash. Says more about you than Melania or anyone else. And it's good to know.

LOL, so typical! When you can't say anything else, pull out the 'ole "But Hillary"! adage!

I'ts been a long time since Hillary was 1st Lady, but at least she had a compelling and unprecedented 1st Lady project, President's Task Force on Health Care Reform. No small task.

But, I was thinking of more modern 1st Ladies, like Michelle Obama. Melania is so far out of Michelle Obama's league, they are incomparable. But that didn't stop trophy wife #3, Melania, who lied about her college education, (or her speech writers) from plagiarizing Michelle Obama's words twice!

Michelle's Obama, working with Congress through the Farm BIll, had a tremendously positive effect of local small farmers and urban neighborhoods known as "food deserts".

Melania Trump, on the other hand, wants to combat cyber bullying, by supporting her toddler husband's attacks on free speech and the free press, and suing or threatening to sue companies and individuals to silence them!

LOL indeed!

If I had brought up, say, Jackie Kennedy, that would have been ancient history and therefore irrelevant.

However, Hillary was and is part and parcel of this equation. Not just because of what she did or did not do 20 years ago, but because she was in fact part of this election process, and because she wanted to be president now. You can't take her out of it. We were going to get one or the other -- Hillary or Melania.

I have not and will not talk trash about Michelle Obama. Nor is Michelle pertinent to our conversation, nor was her husband accused of any sort of sexual harassment or abuse, nor was Michelle ever going to be part of the upcoming presidency, unlike BOTH Hillary and Melania.

So okay. You've made yourself pretty darn clear: You have no problem with Hillary's abuse of power and connections to bully and intimidate her husband's female victims... but you have a big problem with Melania publicly condemning the behavior of her husband years and years ago.

Gotcha. And now I'm done. We've both said what we have to say, and our words will stand on their own merit.

I'm good with that

This thread isn't about Hillary. Hillary ran for President, so you should be comparing her to Donald Trump.

This thread is about Melania Trump, and why the Guardian keeps "bashing" her, the poor little innocent victim"!

Melania Trump deserves all the criticism that she gets dished, and more! She needs to be called out for the two faced, selfish, out of touch hypocrite that she is!
