No, the KKK has never ever been a leftist organization. Stop this lie.

I think you are confusing a symptom with the cause..

How many people do you think hated gays, but since obama said they were ok, changed their minds???

Now how many politicians change their positions once they realize public opinion has shifted???

Like I said. That's a bold statement..lol

What more to say?

They're still Democrats? That's all? This is all you have? It's all laid out rather well in the OP. I can't force you to read the truth.

The KKK is anything but leftist. The truth is right there for all to see.

What more to say? your entire OP is nothing but BS. The KKK was very leftist. In case you didn't know socialist and communists and people of other branches of socialism do see each other as the enemy... Just because the kkk was against communism didn't make them any less democrats...

Founded in 1866, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) extended into almost every southern state by 1870 and became a vehicle for white southern resistance to the Republican Partys Reconstruction-era policies aimed at establishing political and economic equality for blacks. Its members waged an underground campaign of intimidation and violence directed at white and black Republican leaders.

Though Congress passed legislation designed to curb Klan terrorism, the organization saw its primary goal–the reestablishment of white supremacy–fulfilled through Democratic victories in state legislatures across the South in the 1870s.

And the amount of stars this BS piece got is just showing how many ignorant people are willing to accept lies and made up BS, simply because these people can't accept the facts.

The KKK was started and was formed of DEMOCRATS... I even gave you a link to the same history.com website you nickpicked trying to evade posting the facts you don't want to accept.

Did it make them any less democrats when they fought for states rights and less federal government?

LOL ... no one's running chief. Sorry you don't know what words mean.

So you agree with the fact that the founders of the KKK were White Christian men? And that the membership of the KKK, Nazis and other White Supremacist groups today are all White Christian men?

Glad you stopped trying to erase history.

yes, and the White Christian men who started the KKK were DEMOCRATS.

Yes, and the White Christian men who are in the KKK today are REPUBLICANS.

See! You're catching on!

Oh and to just clarify something, the White Christian men who started the KKK are not today's republicans, they are dead.

Amazing.

The White Christian men who are in the KKK today who are REPUBLICANS aren't.

So you are completely unaware that "progressivism" started in the late 19th and early 20th century, and that democrats before "progressivism" had different ideas how the country should be run back then to how democrats see it now?...

Here is a refresher of true history and not the deranged fantasy created by the op.

...
The Democratic party was a proponent for slave-owners across the country, urban workers, and caucasian immigrants.[citation needed] It was especially attractive to Irish immigrants who increasingly controlled the party machinery in the cities. The party was much less attractive to businessmen, African American Evangelical Protestants, and social reformers.[citation needed] The party advocated westward expansion, Manifest Destiny, greater equality among all white men, and opposition to the national banks. In 1860 the Civil War began between the mostly-Republican North against the mostly-Democratic, slave-holding South.

You're drifting into the fallacious a bit I think ... I haven't said or remotely that Obama singlehandedly reversed homophobia, merely that his public actions had an effect. If you don't remember, he worked to establish legislation to address hate crimes, helped repeal "don't ask don't tell," signed EOs that gave LGBT some Federal protection in the workplace, etc. etc.

I don't think it's that bold to recognize his contributions to LGBT equality.

One of the many RINOs in a long line of RINOs who kept going to the left. Look at today's RINOs, such as Paul Ryan, their votes are about half left-wing and half Republican/conservative.

Gosh, it's like all the Democrats who were against Civil Rights were White Southern Christian men.

I'm sure you're ready to stand up against the heritage of White Southern Christian men who did all these horrible things, right?

Correct, and the thugs in masks beating folks up and trying to silence free speech are democrats.
See, we can do this all #ing day if you like.

I'm not sure what it is you are trying to do here other than somehow make it look like the KKK wasn't founded by democrats.

And before you burst another blood vessel, yes, I realize that back then, democrats weren't the same as democrats today. Perhaps after a few more statues are removed, a few cities are renamed (oops, I was holding on to that one for a few weeks in the future when the idiot left figures out that entire towns were named after civil war generals) you can white wash the books and remove that bit so you don't have to get so worked up about it in the future.

The Republican Party at the time held many of his ideals, he just felt they were not progressive enough. It wasn't just him, the party pushed these beliefs at all levels of government.

Who are these Thugs in masks? Antifa? Why in the world do you think they're Democrats? Do you have any proof of that claim? Most ANTIFA are anarchists ... but I'll be glad to see your proof.

Like the proof I can offer that the Nazis and White Supremacists marching down the streets in Charlottesville carrying Nazi flags and chanting "Jews will not replace us" were Republicans.

My blood vessels are perfectly fine. You seem triggered though; need a safe space?

why not narrow it down to just White men. It's a bit disingenuous to bring in Christian since back then, most identified as "Christian". Unless you are just trying to use that term to further hide the part of history discussed in the OP.

Disingenuous? You mean like suggesting that Democrats like Hillary Clinton are aligned with the KKK?

You seem to want to deny history. Most Americans today are also Christian, that hasn't changed. What has changed is that most White Christian men today are Republicans, just like most KKK, Nazis and White Supremacists are Republican.

It is a fact that the KKK was created by White Christian men. That's apparently the heritage and tradition so many are worried about.

Just the facts, right?

I am aware that when we look at today's definition of left and right, the Republican party of the Civil war era was left (bigger federal government/more taxes) and the Southern Democrats were right (states rights/less taxes). That all got switched around over time. Yes, the Democrats of that time are nothing like the Democrats of today.

Oh spanky, relax. ANTIFA are just idiots. They are the Alt left and they fight the alt right, who are also just idiots.
I get that you really, really need to not have anyone realize that Democrats started the KKK, but unfortunately, they did.

And here is one just for you so you can lower that blood pressure a few ticks. Trump is orange and says dumb things.
Now, breath in, hold it, and let it out. Now, feel better?
