Thing is YOU WOULDN'T have a choice.
In service to the fleet maybe they'd have more material responsibilities?

Well the Ferengi (and others) used Latinum which couldn't be replicated. It was pressed with "worthless gold". Not sure why it's named after Latin, maybe I should check the Rules of Acquisition again?

a reply to: intrepid>>>. If artificial intelligence is making such leaps and bounds now, you'd think a species of complete artificial intelligence would be in the works. Not cyborgs like the Borg, but actual androids. Which goes back to the question why Data was pretty crappily constructed and programmed when it gets down to it. You could have a completely human looking android with a completely human personality. Or he could be a jerk. The artificial intelligence aliens might be good villains. Not out to defeat organics but very adversarial and rivals of the Federation.

Although there are still some problems, the ST way of life is much preferable to anything we have here on Earth today.

Duh. It's a Socialist utopia. Socialist utopias always look awesome in fiction.

He failed to show ANY motivation for any kind of economic exchange at all.
It wasn't realistic at this point of humanity for globalists anyway, they had survived a nuclear world war FIRST.

Of course it isn't realistic. It's a utopia. Utopias only exist in fiction. Clearly Roddenbury was an idealist. Today we know that pure Socialism has many flaws like pure capitalism does. That's why we use a combined system where we take the best of both worlds to better society.

How did you determine this? Do you prejudge everything without prior knowledge of the contents of things?

Traditionally, the Klingon Empire was one of very few empires to remain strong independently of the Federation Alliance of Planets. When fighting powerful invaders, be they Borg, Dominion, or what have you, the Klingons were often essential or a decisive factor in victory. Klingons often had more advanced military weapons, cloaking, and were physically stronger complete with samurai style training. Of course, they were later depicted as hideous and dressed like members of KISS. Following a Tolkien fantasy genre, Klingons became the Dwarves of Star Trek, with Vulcans as the Elves, and Romulans as the evil Elves.

Sociologically, portraying the Trump supporters as Evil Klingons will backfire, much as it did when Tom Hanks was portrayed as a Trump supporter. They represent the characteristics Americans actually want in their group. In a zombie apocalypse, or major conflict, do you think people want help from an Ellen or View fan, or a Trump supporter?

On national television, liberals have already made their claim: they would take the Trump supporter. Trump supporters, or Klingons, may not be the pretty popular friend you want, but they are the friend you need when the SHTF.

Why so condescending?

We can have a fictional socialist utopia in real life.
We can all like Hillary, replicate organic (yes ORGANIC) tofu and mocha lattes, drive the *exact* same Minicooper model (or range rovers for families), and meet up for our daily mindless protests against "the *white* Man" (yes white men will love participating too! it'll be like the 4th of July just less racist xenophobic misogynistic and homophobic - way less so), and then we can all sit around all day playing on our gold plated unlimited data brand new iphones playing bejeweled together.

Then Data will come tuck us in for bedtime and read us stories like the little engine that couldn't so he became a Marxist.

This sound totally realistic and in fact, it's so incredibly awesome I don't know what we're waiting for!

Beam me up to a better future Scotty!

Are you prejudging that we need to know the contents of things before making a judgment?
Hypocrite much there Intrepid?

You know the world would be a lot simpler if we could just base all our opinions off knee-jerk ATS OP's. Why would we waste all that time finding out stuff? So we can act all pretentious and educated and informed and *superior*? Yeah, exactly.

This is an idiocracy and you Sir, are banging on the hornet's nest.
They are gonna appoint me as your lawyer and you know what?
I say you're guilty.
Don't care what of, you just are.

Here, I'll help:

"Discovery is the Best ST series ever!"
If you just say it enough times you'll finally start believing in it, maybe.

And look, she's doing the vulcan hand sign

See, best show ever.
You won't even remember that Spock used to do that.
It'll be like she reinvented it but it's cool and hip now.

Well that's what intelligent people do.

Hypocrite much there Intrepid?

If not intelligent use of a dictionary helps. No hypocrisy here.

Personally I'd go with a smarter advocate. Say a Pet Rock.

I'm not being condescending. I'm expressing exasperation that you are confirming the obvious. Also, you can be like Hillary, but I'll pass. I like being myself. I'm not exactly advocating for a socialist utopia here. I'm just educating the thread on the history of Star Trek, its creator, and where the political message he put in the show is coming from. I'm doing this to hopefully help you juxtapose this against the thread topic where a conservative member is expressing outrage at the fact that Star Trek is doing something liberal in nature when the show has always been liberal in nature. Extremely liberal at that.
