What investigation? At the time of the firing Comey had stated several times that Trump was not under investigation. He lied to Trump if he was.

Trump did not have to be personally under investigation in order for Trump to have the intent of affecting an official investigation.

Will make it all the more sweet. That's why I put the "Will you accept the results of the Special Counsel" line in. Notice no one has said yes to that. RESIST!

Yes.

I will accept the results.

Absolutely no reason not to.

Trump won't be in office too much longer. The Seven Mountains don't need him anymore...which is unfortunate, cuz Pence is so much more psychotic.

I admire you for saying that. Many wouldn't. We may be on different sides, but I like that you will stand for your beliefs and findings.

What's the saying..."you have to stand for something, or you fall for anything"?

Too many do not stand for anything and fall for everything, because they fight for "sides".

I don't play that game.

Pence is a believer in the Seven Mountains Mandate. Google it. It dominionist theology that says religion should control government.

Ok. Looked it up. Meh. You give them more power than they have, IMO. I keep telling people if Trump goes, you get Pence. They don't seem to understand what that means. He wasnt my choice for VP.

The REAL obstruction of justice lawsuit is still pending, and that'll be for Comey. For Lynch. And for collusion with Russians - yes Clinton, Podesta, Waters.

So many many many happy years to come - behind the bars for these scum!

People keep saying "For any reason"...

I cannot see how it can be for ANY reason. I mean, if the President fires someone because they are close to finding the gun with which they murdered a person, or the body of the person, or evidence connecting them to a murder for example, that could not possibly be legal, President or no. Do you know why? Because that would be unjust, and law which promotes injustice is not law. It is invalid.

So there must be some exceptions to that rule of thumb you are talking about. Obviously, no one is suggesting that Mr Trump shot someone dead and buried them someplace, thats just an example.

I am just confused as to how any accountability can exist, if the President can simply fire everyone who looks at him funny.

Of course he's got a case. Why do you think Trump is causing so much media BS tap dancing, wag the dog carnival antics? But if you have been looking past the latest headline nonsense the media occupies itself with at any given moment. you would see the back page news articles, which have shown an investigation that has been quietly but steadily picking up steam. Mueller assembled a team of guys whose resumes include taking down mob bosses, tycoons, and even a president.

When you are trying to put a case, especially possible criminal cases, together against someone as powerful and high up as a sitting president, you better make damned sure you tightened loopholes and escape routes, dotted every I, crossed every T, squirreled every Q, and assmebled the Hammer of Thor in evidence. Robert Mueller is a pro. He is not going to screw this one up.

Of course, it also depends equally on the willingness of a Republican controlled congress to impeach him. Which actually is quite possible now, seeing as Trump has turned on congress and they are backing away from him more and more. The fact that so many top Republicans seem willing to cut Trump loose more and more tells me they might have gotten wind of just how big the case against Trump is, and are trying to save their own political skins when the SHTF.

Still, you have people around Trump obstructing or trying to hinder the investigation, so I'm not going to hold my breath for results any time soon.

Comey himself said he was not investigating Trump so there was no justice to begin with let along obstruction of justice.

Mueller is grasping at straws, and I think he knows this. Recent reports indicate that he's focusing on Paul Manafort, and has enlisted the IRS to try to identify any financial crimes he may have committed. This suggests that Muller doesn't have any solid evidence, and is trying to squeeze Manafort in the hopes that he'll confess to being Putin's secret boy-toy (or something). And while this kind of stuff might make for a dramatic episode of Law & Order, in reality it's basically a Hail Mary pass by the prosecutor.

Any now, we have congressional Republicans opening talking about how Comey perjured himself when he testified. And firing Comey is the cornerstone of any obstruction theory, so having it turn out that his BFF and star victim is actually the one obstructing justice does not exactly help Mueller.

Only in a liberal fantasy world is Trump guilty of this made up BS but Bill Clinton meeting with the AG in her private jet shortly before the FBI announces no charges against Hillary is totally legit.

Imagine what would happen if a President could not fire anyone and replace them with who they need?

The Impeachment process and the courts are there to protect against things like you suggest. All Presidents can and do fire and replace people, in particular when taking over from a President from the other Party. Obama did, Bush did and so have they all I think.

What also protects us is the President is not a dictator and has limited powers. The Senate and House can overrule a President if they go out of control for real. In this case though it's just partisan madness and SSDD.

In the end, the articles are just opinions from biased sources. Perhaps to counter the recent reports that Comey drafted his speech clearing Clinton before finishing the investigation. It's a game.

Speaking of which, I was doing a school project on Arnold Schwarzeneger. Did you know Bush appointed him the chairman of the national committee on fitness and health and Clinton fired him as soon as he got into office? Why did Clinton do that? President fire people without giving a reason all the time.
