Does Trump and the GOP really think deporting the dreamers will play well for them long term???

The fact that the timer only got started because trump chose to start it...makes it his responsiblity

It was going to be challenged by 10 State AG and even one of President Obama's DACA attorneys said they would win.

We already did.....read.

What about DACA is Constitutional? DAPA was almost the same and the courts knocked it down on first challenge.

As I understand it, DACA survived BECAUSE there was no path to citizenship, residency or any kind of perceived "legal status". It's a "parole' program. These "criminals" have turned themselves in. They've surrendered.

He's holding 800,000 innocent individuals hostage for his agenda. The upside is his base can get giggity thinking about all the terror and disruption this cruel White House announcement, "Prepare to self deport", caused Latino communities from shore to shining shore.

Decent hyperbole, 7/10, but perhaps next time try to work in the " Oh won't somebody please think of the children!!!" misdirection. Needs more deflection from why they didn't bother to follow the legal route to become a citizen these past five or so years.

Is that your question? Why didn't they follow the legal route to citizenship?

BECAUSE, there is no route to citizenship for immigrants who have committed the crime of illegal entry. But, we are talking about children, even though years have passed, and they're not little kids any more.

DACA is a "parole" program. It offers no legal status, no residency status, no path to citizenship.

In order to apply for citizenship in the USA, one must have held a Green Card for no less than 5 years. To get a Green Card, one must have legal status.

Which is why we need comprehensive immigration reform. That is what president Trump is calling for now from congress, isn't it? The only way that can happen is if congress is pushed into actually DOING THEIR JOBS. yes, those high paying, golden benefit carrying, elected positions.

Can't they put aside their petty political partisanship, this one time.

Think of the children!

Ummmm OK,. Multiple Court Rulings

Most Apply to DAPA but would be the basis of the 10 State AG challenge to DACA. Even Obama's lawyers on DACA say the State AG's would win.

What about DACA is Constitutional? Second attempt at getting an answer.

And if that happened it wouldn't be on trump and the timetable would start then...

Instead trump took that responsibility as part of a political gamble..

Set a time table where if the GOP doesn't act the ramifications would be horrible for everyone, and then get the wall funded..

However that assumes the GOP acts rationally and they do not..

You do realize that after 6 months, if congress doesn't come together, Trump can extend it a year, six months, however long he wants.

That way, he looks like a hero and congress looks like even worse scum than they already are.

What is inaccurate about that??

It is a political gamble to get the wall funded.. no question..

Yes a chunk of trumps base is giddy over anything that causes chaos to the system..

What is at all inaccurate??

I think they have even specially said self deport multiple times.

By what means?
Executive Order?

I thought that was bad.

Yep.

But if he wanted to end it, he would have.

Stands to reason that he actually wants to make this a law. Imagine. . . .

Amnesty being a law.

Yay.

Yeah. His predecessor(s) wanted to make it a law too. Goes back a bit.

I don't remember Obama pushing congress to do so.

*shrugs*

But I'm just a regular guy. I'm sure someone will show how Obama told congress to pass a law so he wouldn't have to do it as an EO.

Or is that bad now?

I can't keep up.
