One million Dollars..of his own money....to make Texas Great Again.

Link

The White House says President Donald Trump is pledging $1 million in personal funds to Harvey storm relief efforts. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders made the announcement at a briefing Thursday. And she says he's calling on reporters to help decide which specific organization he will give to.

Trump has been criticized in the past for giving far less of his income to charitable causes than many other multi-billionaires.

So, what is anyone going to sad is bad about this...I await the comments.

All I can say is I'm thankful he's doing it. We need it badly.

There are some who say, without evidence, Trump is worth negative billions, who has no money and owes billions to Russia. Guess this disproves their theory.

I have never seen a politician give a dime of their own money to help others. Trump is a good man in a tough job.

Everybody who pays federal taxes in this country is donating. Did you hear the press conference today where it was stated that 120 billion dollars is the starting point for getting Southeast Texas back to normal? With that much money flowing into the state of Texas, it will be boom times there for years to come.

But but but, Trump pulled out of Paris climate treaty and caused Harvey in the place. Plus he's a Communist Russian secret agent and a Nazi racist bigot.

People can say what they want. Texas needs this. Hugely.... All of those reporter talking about empathy and how he did not meet the victims. This is what the victims need not a photo-op.

**raises hand**

Matters not in the slightest why he did it. What matters is that he did. Which is more than many are going to, or have, done.

She should. So should every football and baseball and basketball and...well, all of them.So should Dr Dre and all of the musicians with the 200k cars.

Many are but the point of this thread was the flak he got for not 'meeting' victims. Funny people forget he was there after Matthew with Pence distributing their donations.

Congrats it took less than a dozen posts to put him down.

Last year president Trump donated $100,000 of his own money and an entire tractor trailer full of food and supplies to Louisiana when they went through horrific flooding in August. He even helped unload and pass out supplies to the flood victims.

That Louisiana flooding disaster really soured a lot of people on Hillary because she would not even go there to help, let alone donate anything.

The amount of rebuilding will be staggering, as will the pollution. Where will the construction workers come from ? Where will they stay ? how will they be paid ?

You can't just throw money at it and it goes away. How many hucksters, confidence men and scam artists will flood in..... lots to think about

First let me say good, any gesture is welcome and this reflects Trump's concern.

A difference to consider is the past presidents showed genuine empathy, addressed the victims directly, called for donations and actually went to the scene and communed with the people.

So your comment is a little smearish imo.
