Leave it to the professional cons and thieves.

Now they are going to people's homes in Houston and flashing badges and telling people to evacuate !!

Problem is, they are fake "authorities".

So people leave, and get robbed !!

Jesus.

Fake Homeland Security and immigration agents are ordering Houston residents to evacuate in a bid to rob their houses, report warns

People are impersonating Homeland Security special agents and telling residents to evacuate in order to ransack their homes in a sinister twist to Tropical Storm Harvey that has left at least 18 people dead.
An overnight curfew has been imposed in Houston after a spate of robberies and looting.
City officials announced the midnight to 5am clampdown after police arrested a crew of armed robbers who were hijacking vehicles and reports of thefts from some of the thousands of homes that lay partially underwater and abandoned by fleeing residents.
They warned people to ask anyone knocking on their doors for official badges and credentials with their name and organization.

San Leon volunteer firefighter Jody Garcia told the Houston Chronicle that one person posing as a first responder pointed a shotgun at two residents who were trapped in their homes and told them to leave.

www.dailymail.co.uk...

I don't think any first responders will be pointing guns at people to encourage evacuations, except perhaps of their bowels.

No modern capitalism is about selling a product over value, however if the thieves credentials were legit this would be socialism.

Opportunism of the jackals.
Not exactly an economic theory.

Anyone caught doing this should be shot on sight.

The legislature and governor should get quickly together and pass a life without parole enhancement for crimes committed during emergencies. Let them know you take advantage of this to steal, you are never going to breath a free breath again.

Well, the idea of shooting looters on sight has been around for a very long time?

Don't worry I've not gone postal yet. I'm not suggesting they put kids out looting houses for electronics in prison for life; I'm reacting in an emotional way to the idea that people are so low life as to take advantage of people in the middle of an emergency. The punishment should be more harsh than at other times, don't you think?

Emotional reactions are dangerous.

The law is fine as it is.

Step back a bit from all of this and let your mind clear. When the emotions settle you'll see more clearly.

If someone breaks into your house you can shoot him.

But tacking on a law that says life in prison without parole because grandma or a baby was in that house, is insane.

You don't think that looting during a disaster should be punished more harshly? I have no compassion at all for anyone so lowlife they would loot, scam or steal while people can't be there to protect their homes. It takes a special kind of dirt bag to do that.

There is nothing wrong with my reaction to something that is this vile. Thieves are already the bottom of the barrel and to do this?

It's still just theft.

We have kids shooting a clerk at the gas station and only doing 10 to 15 years. Our prisons are overflowing.

How can you justify life with no parole for stealing something?

What if he only stole a few cans of corn or beans? It's still technically looting.

Life with no parole for stealing a tv? Cmon now. Way overboard.

Hell man, I'd be in favor of going Middle Eastern on thieves in general and chopping hands off following conviction in the best of times. I think we're far, far too soft on animals who feel entitled to help themselves to the possessions of others and believe that leniency is exactly why the USA has such a major problem with burglary and theft. One thing's for damn sure, if people knew they'd experience massive penance for their sin, there'd be a hell of a lot less of them willing to risk it.

That's why we have police, prosecutors and judges to act as buffers against that.

Pretending to be with Homeland to clean people out is a bit beyond stealing a can of corn.
