I just watched a CNN video on YouTube of Trump thanking a bunch of people around a large table. He was saying what a wonderful job they were all doing while conditions on the ground are horrible.

He was also thanking the Texas congressman that were present in the room.

Will this help or hurt Trump like it hurt GWB?

I think he went there and made these announcements way to soon

If he didn't go, he would be slammed for not caring. He made the right choice, he had to go, even if he gets criticized by some haters, it is a lot less than the criticism he would take for not going.

Yeah, but at least he showed his awe of the crowd size and wore his 2020 campaign hat! SMFH.

I don't think it's the going there but the congratulating everyone for the great job that is the problem. It's good that he went but a bit early to be congratulating anyone yet. Nobody has had time to do anything yet. The Storm isn't even done yet.

This is the time when you tell everyone to roll up their sleeves because theirs work to do. Save the celebration for after you do something.

I mean nothing is fixed yet. Or even done being broken for that matter.

They are still undergoing a major natural disaster. How in Hades should conditions on the ground look ? Do you believe Trump can work miracles ?

A natural disaster is still a State responsibility .

The effort on the ground is going well. Why not thank the ones directing the effort ? Or in charge of the ones that are.

Methinks there is an underlying reason for this thread

I liked Fox news playing the clip of the cnn dirtbags saying Trump isn't showing enough empathy and crying about Melania's shoes.

I can't decide if I should put this in the front or the back of my list of s*t I don't care about.

These are worse mistakes than Bush made. Bush waited for the rain to stop, for one thing. Bush didn't turn his trip to survey Katrina's damage into a campaign rally, talking about crown size and the not so subtle product placement/hocking of his campaign merchandise.

Actually there is a lot that has been done already, I just heard a story of a police officer who drowned while out trying to save people. What was Trump supposed to say "You guys are doing terrible!", I mean come on. He was giving people confidence and trying to inspire them, that's what he should be doing. There is no reason to criticize Trump, yet, other than blind hatred and using a devastating natural disaster for political gain, neither reason is very flattering.

I think we are used to the fact that Trump is still in campaign mode and not leadership material. Trump used the Tragedy for just more self congratulation.

Melania looked fantastic....

Trump, as other presidents, in a damned if do, damned if you don't moment. The campaign rally, crowd size comments made it worse. I could care less about what hat he wears, as long as it holds his hair on.

AMEN to BOTH aya. Btw 25 years ago my Lakota handle was Talks to Napkins

Welcome to the 24 hour news cycle..We'll have the other political
side of this natural catastrophe after this mandatory mascara ad.

"Helluva job, Brownie." Yea I got that one long after the fact of a
'brand new agency's' ineffectiveness. Or did that one go as planned
with Katrina?

My end of that deal looked like everybody was ready locally... and even the
whole Texas Guard was called into quartermastering. I give the Governor
a whole two dozen white roses for that one.
The feds intervene not when they're needed nearly as much as
when it helps create a logistical situation of dependency on them.

But Hell Dawn made some monay on a stock and gave a third to the blanket kitty.
I knew there was a reason I loved her, it ain't because she lived 8 yr in Houston.

The first problem is you are watching CNN. Everything is working as well as can be expected and thanking those that are doing the best they can is important at any point. Those are the people that will give him the level of briefing that he needs.

You all just need to stop politicizing this. For God's sake give it a rest.

The locals did pretty good, we even had some here in KC preposition stuff in the area, as I am sure others in other cities did. Some of the local religious community has done a good job, not so much Joel Osteen. Fema has not really been discussed on line, they usually come in after search and rescue is done. God protect our first responders

Thats what the thread is about, the search and rescue is ongoing and Trump is praising 4 government officials for the wonderful job there doing plus as stated by other member's his own product placement and going on about rally sizes.

I wonder if his being there has hindered the search and rescue at all????

He should have done a flyover instead of making it about himself. Imo
I wonder how the people wanting to be rescued feel???

It must be going well for Trump when I saw CNN discussing the 1st lady wearing heels to a disaster area. If this is the only thing they could find he must be doing well. My god has everyone gone insane. They want Trump to fail so badly they find anything they can to criticize. This isn't the time for that people in Texas have lost homes and will take years to recover. Time to stand up and be a Americans and support Texas in their time of need.

Read another article of a professor that said Texas deserves this for voting republican can you believe this crap?

I have friends and family in Houston this isn't the time to criticize anything. This is a time to pull together to provide help and aid.

CNN OMITTED THESE WORDS FROM PRESIDENT TRUMP:

"We want to be looked at in five years and ten years from now as 'This is the way to do it,'" he said at the Corpus Christi firehouse as dispatch calls came over an address system.

But he said it's too early to declare the relief efforts an unqualified success.

"We won’t say congratulations. We don’t want to do that," Trump told Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. "We’ll congratulate each other when it's all finished."

Source: www.usatoday.com...

Politics-101 for 2017: Always know that when you see a CNN story, you're probably not going to see the positive aspects of anything President Trump does. CNN hated Candidate Trump, and is now Angry and Butt-hurt that he's President Trump.

That so-called Professor was fired today.
www.foxnews.com...

Too bad... we need more like him, to drive up the number of Republican office holders even higher next year.
