But thinking that socialism and individualism are polar opposites is an opinion.

Saying that people in the USSR could dress however they liked isn't an opinion, if they in fact could.

Individualism isn't about wearing whatever you like.

What about thoughts? Is it about thinking your own thoughts?

Is that your opinion?

Exactly. I was hoping to show that continuing to say "that's your opinion" is ridiculous.

Interestingly, that is also a statement of opinion.

It is in fact.

I am impressed.

I'm impressed. In your pursuit of philosophy, have you read anyone who wasn't a marxist?

No it isn't. Socialism is not an obstacle to the physical, intellectual, or moral development of man.

I explicitly stated individuals. It is an obstacle to the physical, intellectual, and moral development of individuals.

Prove it. Prove that socialism is an obstacle to individuals. The biggest threat to individualism is capitalism which requires the exploitation of man by man.

You're on fire today. You know what an opinion is.

Personally I am libertarian. So spent a lot of time on Locke, Rosaeu, Decarte, Hume, Kant, etc...

But economically I like hyak as a reasonable free market guy.

I just enjoy taking apart your hysterical argument.

I am not afraid of the US turning socialist. It's already a crony capitalist mess. I support compromising to make ideas that aren't torn apart every new president and starting over leaving the public screwed.

As it happens, I do, although all you actually know is that you agree with me.

I haven't defined what an opinion is ... but your posts are great examples.

Sadly, the US is not very capitalist at all these days. Our government gives BILLIONS to corporations to subsidize their profits.

I like how I can plunk your statement into google and find some socialist tract that says the exact same thing, word for word.

State ownership of the economy, for one, precludes that an individual cannot own his own means of production.

Hell that is what welfare for the illegals is. And the starry eyed trump base believes it's the labor that is the problem. It's hilarious how people get led around. I am sure myself included.

I don't think you're that "led around" in my experience of your posts.

However, we are all constantly subject to confirmation bias, even when we are vigilant against it and aware we do it.

Some, however, actually embrace their confirmation biases, and simply move on the road to pathological thought.

Then what did Hayek say of collectivism in the Road to Serfdom?

What did he say about reparations and the basic income?

We do all know that, it's all your posts have offered thus far.

No arguments, just posted opinions, while attempting to condemn others for the same behavior.

More than a bit hypocritical and dishonest as it turns out.

/sigh

Anyone care to name a governmental or economic system anywhere that's not "collectivist"?

Or can we agree that's pure idealistic abstraction and move on?
