Good Lord, what would have happened in your world had he performed to your expectations? Look at OH and tell me he didn't take Democratic base voters.

He would have won the popular vote.

Trump got some independents, but he still didn't win the popular vote. He won due to the electoral college, mainly Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. That's solely due to Hillary screwing up, just like in 2008 she treated the campaign as a coronation. Her deplorables comment, while accurate, gave the deplorables something to rally around. Then she simply didn't visit battleground states because she thought there was no way she would lose them.

Those actions don't flip people though, it simply ceases to drum up support. Thanks to TV we all see politicians on a daily basis. Visiting a town doesn't win you voters, it only keeps you from disenfranchising your base.

I always considered myself a lefty and Im a great example of what the threads about.

Weve gone so far past common sense and rationality that I find myself agreeing with pundits who I would have called idiots a couple of years ago.

I see it more and more everyday, normies are becoming alt-right.
Most people I know will even be voting no on the gay marriage plebicite thats coming up in Oz.
Not because theyre homophobic but because the charge to insanity needs to stop and this is their one chance to have a voice

No, because the "alt-left" doesn't exist. It's a made up name by alt-right extremists and right wing talking heads.

Extreme left liberals don't call themselves "alt-left". No one on that side of the political spectrum uses that term when talking about themselves. It's made up. Fake. Fabricated.

Now, alt-right? Sure. There are lots of people who call themselves alt-right. In fact, it is those very people who invented the term "alt-left" because they wanted to take the pressure off of themselves.

Find me a radical liberal who calls themselves "alt-left". I'll wait.

Give me 30 seconds and I'll find you 100 far-right folks proud to be called "alt-right".

I agree with you, there is no alt left. I prefer to call them the "no common sense" left.

Well that's probably why she lost. You don't think barnstorming works. It did. Maybe not Clinton rallys but Sanders and Trump rallies were full of motivated and energized people. They both connected with their base in a way Clinton never could. You and Clinton misjudged the voters in many key States. I'm sure you were talking about the landslide Trump was going to have in October, right?

Trump didn't have a landslide. In the US, a landslide is considered 375 or more electoral votes. Trump got 304. Furthermore, there's still the pesky issue of that definition considering he got fewer than 50% of the votes, he still didn't win the popular which is the more accurate number to determine his support.

You are the one saying he underperformed, not me. If that is what you said, and you did, it implies you thought he would win by even larger amounts. You should have been talking about that in October. You are just Monday morning Quarterbacking IMO.

It's one of the biggest upsets is US political history.

Care to prove me wrong? I'll be here...waiting....

IF the alt left doesn't exist how can the alt right ?

Because "Alt-Right" is a self-described label; not a dualistic identity.

It must suck to live in a country where you consider half the population beneath you. I'd suggest moving.

Yet, you are still in denial. Did you vote for Clinton, Johnson or Trump this past election? Surely you voted, right?

What denial? I voted for someone not on your list, never expecting that my candidate would win. No expectation, no denial, no delusion.

Fine...if it makes you feel good. Might as well not voted.

For years, and I once voted Bill Clinton even though he is so wrong i see now, but the rest of my life I voted Libertarian candidate at the Presidential election and the least of the often bad choices in local elections, and Paul wasn't the 1st one. I would get the 'wasted your vote' stuff and say "But, I can sleep at night not voting for the least of two evils. Either is bad, it won't stop them if i voted for either of them so I vote my conscience"! I still can sleep at night with my choices.

Btw, on topic, I have always considered myself a libertarian centrist for the most part, and I wrote several threads attacking Trump before he was elected. I was the type of Ron Paul supporter who didn't think the lesser of two evils was a valid choice. Now I see things a little bit differently, the OP definitely has a valid point.

Agree 100% says the Ron Paul fan. I am with you with DJT, didn't like him but he was NOT Hillary. Now , IMO, he is a breath of fresh air for freedom loving Americans.

Something I can speak for first hand. DJT has brought hope to the black community I literally hang out with even though white, I sing at Black Christian's events and pray with them in their houses of worship. This group I am exposed to of black evangelicals has shown a MLK like approach to this whole mess and many have implied they voted Trump and the Pastor has stated: 'had listened closely to the news, they are liars'. The middle is voting DJT and this is just the facts.

Short answer: no.

The crazies on both sides should be pushing everyone towards the middle.

Yes I beseech you all, please come join us who are merely wanting sanity and logic again. Crazy will be cray cray and we need to move away from the cray cray until we can get them some medical attention.

Perhaps it is the alt-right driving the centrists to far left. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. As long as we continue our petty bickering, we stay divided thus conquered; and the Shadow Government, military industrial complex, and global corporations will rule our lives. Get it?

the alt left doesn't exist yet the term exists? hmmmm delusion? Calling it alt left is just an easy way to label left extremist, that is all, but the alt left most definitely does exist.

Oh, you mean like the broad brush called "Alt-Right"...which has been sold to Americans and the left by the left media as anyone who: Is 1. white... 2. voted for Trump?

A logical fallacy load of bulls*it is still a load of bullsh*t. Calling the radical left "Alt-Left" PERFECTLY describes the corollary loons burning buildings, inciting riots and beating folks down for what they think.

Now... where I WILL agree with you... is Antifa/Black Block/Alt-Left don't believe or stand for anything of real merit.

They are baby wannabe communist fascists that got D's and F's in modern world history classes. They have no idea what a disaster Communist socialism has been everywhere it has been tried. They also probably don't know that their poster boy communist nations have all moved to market economies instead of Statist central control.

I think you got that backwards. The far left is driving people to the right, not the far right, but to the right none the less. I myself am an example. I voted Republican for the first time in my life after witnessing my parties absolute corruption and take over by extremists. Red pilled as they say.

I agree there is a definite divide and conquer tactic being orchestrated, especially by the media. The thing is, people close to the center recognize that fact, but also know until everyone is aware (woke) and willing to do something about it, that they are going to side with the political group that has shown the least amount of hate, tolerance, and violence. That side will certainly not be the left.

Exactly.

Most people want to be reasonable, but this is not reason. It's insanity. It's the horse running with the bit between its teeth and everyone trying to tell you that a normal carriage ride just looks that way.

We haven't seen examples of that here in this thread. Most people don't like violence. Antifa and those like them cause violence. Even very liberal people are turned off by the violence. To be sure there are players in the shadows who need exposing.

I just want to say that on the Trump loyalists propaganda from the MSM no longer works, I was on a plane and I overheard another passenger talking about fake news and what it is doing to Trump and this is from the most liberal part of the country.

What I post here in this picture is only going to intensify if the far left and the Dems don't get there act together, I actually want them too because it will make for a better America, they have some points I agree with actually, but those points are lost in all the childish screaming and overall bad behavior. Actually only Tulsi Gabbard might be able to save the Dems in 2020...otherwise this trend will continue with no end in sight.
