For quite a few years we had civility in this country and it took a turn around 2008. The black people started getting riled up, people started to get more self centered too after that. There was a lot of self centered people before that crash, but most were mellow, now with social media they are gaining confidence and delusion is spreading along with deception. Our money is way less secure than it ever has been, even in a bank. Someone can wipe out your money and some evidence it ever existed remotely. Doesn't anyone in our government do risk assessment anymore?.

Sure a lot of conartists get conned too. Everyones been fooled before.

They definitely use classical conditioning even in marketing schemes. They use every form of conditioning they can.

Then we do it to each other without realizing we are brainwashing each other.

I never really liked the term brainwashing either because I see it more as getting our brain dirty, the opposite.

And washing removes things, like a mind wipe or erasing. In brainwashing they add stuff to our brains though (new programming). So it's still the opposite even in that context.

Carlin pointed out famously that we say tons of things contradicting what we actually mean. Hey, that's part of the mind control isn't it? Get us thinking backwards in contradictions?

I don't like to use weed killer on my yard but I am allergic to poison oak and ivy. Once in a while i will use weed killer . That way I can enjoy the outdoors without worrying about breaking out. I also keep up with herbal remedies and what herbs are best for different symptoms. I have read those instructions on the weed killers bottles including what kind of weeds the stuff will kill. NEVER for some reason, did I connect, until last week, that the WEEDS I was killing were the exact HERBS that I gather. I knew that weed killer would list dandelion as a weed to kill and that is one of the most helpful plants there is. Roots great blood cleaner .Leaves cook and eat flowers can be put in salads etc. I digress.

The key here is in the wording. WEED KILLER vs.HERBS. We have been conditioned to kill the very plants that could save our lives. Reckon how long that took for people to be conditioned to think weeds instead of helpful plants. Now we take their pills.

Thanks I'll watch it in a bit. Wonder if I've seen that one yet? I'll find out.

And though this topic (mind control in general) is old and gets rehashed we really need to remind ourselves regularly and continue studying and concerning ourselves with it.

So many people are caught up in so much bs right now, even you and I are. So we, all of us, need to go back to asking all of these hard questions and doing some research, realignment, and introspective development.

Always learning everyday. Still true now as ever!

I really liked your OP, and I don''t want to read as too cynical about the idea, but brainwashing presupposes it being forced. That's my only dissent from your OP. But I think it serves as a good reminder that one should possess critical thinking skills with which to navigate mess of information out there.

Great OP.

We're all brainwashed, but then I do hate that term. In reality it's more about our subconscious instinct, our programming is hackable, these are well established facts now with plenty of history available to anyone who has Internet or can visit a library.

Thank you . You expand on op quite nicely.

That's a very insightful example, thank you for pointing it out!

They even got people Fearful to take natural remedies that are perfectly safe. People don't even realize a good diet is the best medicine of all hardly anymore!

Some people would even think it criminal if I had a disease and you suggested I use an herb. Like how dare you mislead me, I could die. I need to consult a licensed professional to get me connected with a Big Pharma dealer. We'll ignore the millions of deaths their pills caused, lol!!

We are brainwashed by movies and comics etc to think it's forceful.

But really all we need was a suggestion and some window dressing to make it look desirable.

People will spend 500$ on a belt at this store near where I live here in Nashville. These belts sell. 500$! There are 1000$+ purses selling...

No one forced that on them, each of us forces these things upon ourselves in the end.

Yes many of us including me are always learning and caught up in the many distractions that tend to capture our immediate attention.
I think my sometimes short attention span helps to not get too distracted oddly.
But I do agree we all need to sit down and reevaluate these old world centers of political-religious and ethical influence.
Especially since a lot of what is brainwashing & controlling is associated with the ancient past.
In no way am saying forget the old world input more less saying maybe update it for better understanding to help enlighten future generations of the New world...

Do you think the biologically hardwired responses, like a baby kitten fearing a hawk, was hardwired in by hundreds of generations of environmental experience?

Some say there is a body of knowledge that encompasses EVERYTHING we have learned over the tens of thousands of years. Animals tap into it with ease......we used to be able to tap into it before we lost our ability and our connection to each other and the universe. It's late on here on the east coast so my mind's a little hazy, but the body of knowledge is there, we have just lost our way.

Apparently indigenous peoples still have this deep connection, to the point that they can communicate via telepathy and they just "know" stuff. Modern man has lost that connection and so we have to start all over again.

Let's just say that we are open to brainwashing / hypnosis of what to feel, what to do, and what we like and don't like based on the most superfluous of things, because our original connection to what is real and true has been severed.

That's how I know I too am trapped. I needed my fix. It involved some serious emotions and deep reflection.

What is the alternative, lock yourself in a room and meditate to forget or beat yourself up for wanting a milkshake or wanting to say hello to someone?

How would that be any better or worse than just going out and enjoying the milkshake or a conversation with someone?

Can anyone define the true essence of 'freedom' in this new hyper connected digital age?

The difference between the state of our collective awareness in our fairly recent past and this new digital age is that while we have reached new highs in shared awareness and thought, what juxtaposes that are new lows and attacks on freedom of thought. Not only directly, by example of the current censoring of free speech, but also the more dire and situational construct of it all which is the subconscious natural demand of being 'in the know' and privy to the immediacy of new information.

This is THE primary natural instinct in awareness, one that exists as to judge ones comprehension and piece of mind relevant to the security of the tribe, or community. Through this digital age, we are normalizing and actualizing a state of collective hyper-vigilance to which we can no longer relax from. We are in fact breaking our minds.

Great thread, appreciate the effort.

Of course. There's not a person who's immune to being brainwashed. Even people who are "aware" are brainwashed.

If you stop and think about it,brainwashing is essentially exposing oneself to the same experience, ideas, et cetera, over and over. That's basically what everyone does on some level.

To think one has somehow been endowed with some inherent ability to not be brainwashed is not only the height of arrogance, but of ignorance as well.

The solution, I believe, is to take the long march toward independant thinking. Everything must be questioned. But the need to be proficient at analysing everything come back to bite in the a.. very soon, not easy to become a polymath... But eventually you reach a point were you have enough "verified" knowledge and analytical skill to start getting forward.

This is when things start to become ugly, if not carefull, this is fall into delusion and madness. It is the point of no return where we see that the world is based on false belief and fallacies.

Also by choosing to become a freethinker, you invariably isolate yourself socially and appear weird. Must then become an actor to hide the way you think and react.

Probably the hardest part is to not lie to self.

One problem being a freethinker is you recheck thing constantly and try to reinvent the wheel all the time. This does not make you a very efficient person.

Conclusion: think twice before breaking your mental chains... There is a price to pay if you get out of your gelatin-filled pod past a certain age (reference to the Matrix movie).

*snip*

It's because we are brainwashed and controlled.

I'm not sure muzzleflash. The very first moment my consciousness arose, probably in an embryonic strata of brain cells or something equally icky, I was being programmed. I've been programmed my whole life. There is nothing else. I can only program what my program permits. l can believe I'm in control, but belief is itself a program. So what's the point? To live, and avoid death. Life is diverse though. It's very convincing.

Also this:

Afraid Cofactor is right. Get back into the pod.

Some of that isn't sarcasm.

Great op, one question though...
Does collecting stars on ATS attribute to this brainwash conditioning?

If it does.... I'm in dire need of help as everytime I try to give myself stars.... which doesn't seem to work (faulty browser?)

On a serious note, I agree with TerryMcGuire's comment, this is a must read for all who visit ATS

it's not brainwashing more a stupid society easily manipulated.

in britain %52 percent voted to leave the european union based on african and asian refugees, that's not brainwashing that's a lack of common sense.
look at america, a nation where if you see rape as a bad thing, equal rights should be the norm and sexuality shouldn't be a problem it is now considered being a 'leftist', the goalposts changed from a political stance to a moral stance.
if you believe wiping out polio and smallpox was incorrect and believe inoculations against mumps are a means to control population or, if you believe tootsie is nothing but a ploy to make a trannie super army thats upon yourself, not brainwashing.
yes people can make youtube videos explaining how fluoride has turned frogs gay but it was just a fat guy ranting wanting to get money by saying outrageous stuff to garner hits, not a form of subliminal messaging.

people defending white supremacists and their hate speech isn't down to brainwashing per se but preference.
protecting free speech under the auspices of a neo-nazi rally is a signal of how easily some are manipulated.

remember back a few years where jews were the secret rulers of the world, the international symbol for rawk was interpreted by those as a signal of worship and people like katy perry started using it free advetrising, triggering many not through brainwashing but their own paranoia and grasp of reality.
