Like I said, opposition to any appropriations bill for Harvey relief would be politically toxic to either side.

Yes. I agree. That's why I wrote this thread saying that Trump lost his bluff to shut the government down over his wall thanks to the storm. Only a moron would pitch a budget fight over a silly wall when money is needed for saving lives and rebuilding the country after a disaster. Of course Trump is a moron and probably won't get the picture, but Congress at least knows whats up and won't listen to him.

Texas will recieve AID. The wall will get funded, all 1.6 billion requested.

Its literally as simple as that. The premise of the WAPO article is mainly about a "test of resolve", of which President Trump will barrel through as usual.

Anybody who doesn't understand the bad guys here are the employers isn't thinking logically. It's an emotional response and what it was designed to do.

People's main reason to hate illegals is they are a created boogeyman. Nobody is pissed when their 3000 sqft house in Austin in only $290k.

The emotional response is my life sucks, it's not fair, they need to go. The reality is entirely different.

Oh I know. Illegal immigrants aren't as hostile to the country as the right pretends they are. In fact they are SUPER beneficial and integral to our economy as Alabama once learned.

The two have little to do with one another.

When Trump says we need x dollars for Harvey relief, are the Dems really gonna say not until we come to agreement on the debt ceiling? No. If they do, they're even politically dummer than I've always thought.

Very true that Americans will end up paying more for goods made in Mexico, and shipped into the States.

In exactly the same way that fixing the "Free Trade" deals (making them into "Fair Trade" deals) will increase the average cost of goods in America. But, when foreign goods become more expensive, that means domestic goods become more competitive...and that means more good paying jobs in America, from which Americans can afford to pay for goods.

I think the majority of Americans would prefer to pay a little more for a widget out of the their wages, than to not be able to buy a widget at any price - because they can't afford anything more than rent and food from their welfare checks and food stamps.

Maybe I'm wrong...

If you believe people will pay more for made-in-America goods, I have a Walmart filled to the gills with Chinese-made junk to sell you.

What are you talking about? It's like you didn't understand a word I said. No one is going to argue with Harvey money relief. This is about the REST of Trump's economic agenda being sidelined so that money can be used for disaster relief.

The debt like always. Just print it out and add the debt. Reagan really perfected that.

It even goes beyond a judgement to the workforce. It's just a sham period. The discussion STARTS with mandatory worker verification. The "socialists" even do that. But I suspect they know their rhetoric would fail and create a massive cpi economic crisis if enacted. So they will round a few hundred up every two weeks and show how tough they are,...All the while the holding cells are being filled since the courts are already a year delayed for most cases.

Enter the private prison saviors. We have a solution. They are called internment camps.

We will see, thats kinda the point of the big men in offices. If I were to make that kind of decision, I'll be President and not sitting here.

and Obummer took it to a whole new level.

Lets see how this President handles it before you make any more predictions, kinda hard with the previous administration balloning it several trillion over eight years of your life.

It's very simple.

Budget hasn't been balanced for decades. Debt ceiling gets raised every year..loss of revanu equals debt.

You are not alone in your "wall" expectations.
I am not expecting as much a physical wall in unoccupied areas of the border.

So actually it's a pretend wall and Mexico is going to pretend to pay for it. Sounds reasonable....

It's you who don't understand.

Harvey gives Trump even more leverage.

Assuming the Republicans in Congress back him to fund the wall, opposing the relief appropriations because you don't like the other appropriations in the bill would be suicide for the Dems. The shutdown would be perceived as the dem's fault.

Look at what happened with Sandy. The dems won extra fat, because the republicans largely didn't dare oppose the primary purpose of the bill.

The rate of increase under reagan was massive after carter. Obama just continued the Bush rampant expansion.

The Republicans DON'T back him to fund the wall. That's the thing. He was bluffing before the storm to shut the government down over the wall when all Congress wanted to do was discuss redoing taxes.

They dont back him already. He doesn't have the votes. People like Graham are for a pathway.
Actually anybody with common economic sense would be.

...and that is why we have someone willingly to take that head on, again, lets not male assumptions until we have more time with this President, again, the prior ones did nothing, of which resulted in your thinking on the issue.

Okay cool, but considering how Trump runs things, you should totally be advocating President Trump and his spendong ways. The man wants to find deals, good ones.
Do you agree his campaign was ran cheaper then Hillarys?
Do you agree that Trump is trying to find the lowest dollar amount?
This leads to a leader that will see what it is you have an issue with.
