One thing that is rarely mentioned is the conditions and breeding grounds which led to the Nazis seizing power. The politics of those conditions was known as Social Democracy.

Precisely, they leveraged power against a minority group or 1%.

That's Crowder's example in the video and the general idea of the OP.

They tend to forget that Germany was a Democractic country until Hitler seized power in the late 1930's at which point he became an authoritarian dictator, with the backing of the people I may add.

People also tend to overlook that Hitler wasn't even elected. He was at best appointed by the elected leadership to a position of power to appease a powerful segment of a parliamentary government and likely form a coalition. This enabled him to be in position to be more or less appointed later on to fill a power vacuum.

Right, but he needed a lot of financial backing to reach that point. Who was a large financier of his rise?

Union Banking Corp.

Who was at the helm of UBC at the time?

Prescott Bush.

Ridiculous huh?

Half the threads on ATS from right-wingers: Oh, so now I'm a neo-Nazi sympathizer?

the other half of threads from same folks: Everyone I don't like is a Nazi! (or ISIS)

And the alt-right who actively choose to identify as Nazi's, Supremacists and White Nationals we're told we're being snowflakes when we oblige.

What I find funny is that is has been people such as myself, a socialist, that seem to understand the constitution and wish to protect the ideals laid-out in the constitution, even for those that are diametrically opposed to my own beliefs.

Someone clearly doesn't understand the US constitution.

Because that piece of paper expressly protects individual rights, and PROPERTY.

Something socialists just can't seem to grasp.

Absolutely, not to mention the fact that so-called "Marxism" is at best ... pure theory.

What most of the ignorant here get confused (and what they're actually arguing against, such as it is) is that Stalinism and Maoism are the actual attempts at implementation of Communist ideals, which of course, turned out not to be much more than good old totalitarianism.

I am going to say this short and sweet.

Capitalism is an economic model.

Democracy is a form of governance.

Socialism is a bastardization of the two.

They should remain SEPARATE.

It also allows for taxes to be levied for defense and the general welfare. Here is a quote from the Constitution:

Section 8. Clause 1. The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.

See. Why is it that a socialist like me understands the constitution better than you?

By the way, you have a kick-ass military.

You're welcome.

You have roads to drive on.

You're welcome.

General welfare.

A tax created to pay for something EVERY SINGLE person in this country benefits from.

The military. Perfect example.

A tax created to take private property from a minority to pay for the wants of the majority so they can go out and buy more stuff ?

Bastardization of the power granted.

Property taxes, lotteries pay for those.

Your welcome for WHAT ?

Eighty years ago, on 30 January 1933, President of Germany Paul von Hindenburg appointed Adolf Hitler to the position of Chancellor of the Reich.1 In the years preceding Hitler’s appointment the Nazis and their paramilitary units, the SA and SS, had already been engaging in a steady campaign of terror against the labour movement while the state looked the other way. On 30 January 1933 this terror was made legal. By February SA and SS units were being deployed as auxiliary police officers and given official powers. Their fight against the labour movement had become an officially sanctioned state policy.

Brutal attacks and murders of well-known anti-fascist activists followed immediately after Hitler’s ascension to power. Hit most quickly and most heavily by Nazi repression was the Communist Party (KPD). Nazi thugs stormed and closed the KPD headquarters, the Karl Liebknecht House, on 23 February 1933 and banned their newspaper, Die Rote Fahne, a few days later. The burning of parliament on 27 February was used to justify yet another wave of terror against the left. Over 1,500 Communists were arrested that night in Berlin alone. Unable to fit so many political prisoners into the existing prison system, the Nazis erected the first concentration camps during this wave of repression.

Did I say I agreed with that?

I think I'm doing just fine.

Paying property taxes and playing the lottery.

You could not have done it on your own.

Well, unless you have your own military, roads, sewage systems and such.

Do you have those things outside of government services?

What is the name of your military?

What is the name of your private road?

That's not socialism.

Income tax which is the property tax.

Lottery which is noting but the poor tax.

I actually forgot what the did before idiots came along.

Corporate and State bonds use to pay for infrastructure building.

So not socialism.

Effing CAPITALISM is what you have to thank for it.

This is what I understand for you, socialist.

You are perfectly free to find a like-minded group of other socialitsts. Then you can, as a group, purchase your own property and pool it and all other assets collectively for your group's common good. You can do this right now.

But that's not enough for you. You seek to do it legally to those of us who do not want either our persons or property socialized for *your* collective good.

the founding fathers were not arguing for welfare benefits and food stamps just stop kidding yourself

I did not say they did argue for anything of the sort.

They wrote a document that allowed for taxes to be levied in order to provide for the common good, like a military.

That's a socialist ideal.

In a true free market, you have to hire your own army.

Can you do that? I doubt it.

You're welcome.

I'm not aware of any socialist writing stating anything like that. Marx himself was opposed to taxes on the grounds it connected the middle class to the feudal state, funded wars and the actions of the bureaucracy.

"From today, therefore, taxes are abolished! It is high treason to pay taxes. Refusal to pay taxes is the primary duty of the citizen!". - Karl Marx

And that is why the Founding Fathers are different than the likes of Marx and why many socialists, such as myself, do not agree with those extremes.

Taxes serve a purpose and are outlined in the constitution in order to provide the necessities that both ignorant communists and free-market nuts can't seem to understand.

Marx also despised constitutions. Not to mention that socialialism is thouroughly refuted by the 14th amendment.

Like I said, they don't understand basic differences between socialism, Communism, Marxism, etc.

Good on you for continuing to argue against the gut-wrenching, mind-numbing IGNORANCE on display here.

I bet they don't even know that ol' Tom Paine was an early "Communist," LOL.

That's cool.

Again, you're welcome.

The Fourteenth Amendment is against a publicly traded Stock Market?

Against profit-sharing plans?

Those are two very common "socialist" components of our economy.

Care to show us where?

What's the difference ?

A communist state (sometimes referred as Workers' State) is a state that is usually administered and governed by a single party representing the proletariat, guided by Marxist–Leninist philosophy, with the aim of achieving communism. Th

However, contrary to Western usage, these states do not describe themselves as "communist" nor do they claim to have achieved communism; they refer to themselves as Socialist states or Workers' states that are in the process of constructing socialism.[
