Geneva (AFP) - A UN committee tasked with combatting racism has issued a formal "early warning" over conditions in the United States, a rare move often used to signal the potential of a looming civil conflict. The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination said it had invoked its "early warning and urgent action procedure" because of the proliferation of racist demonstrations in the US. It specifically noted the unrest in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which a woman was killed after an avowed white supremacist ploughed his car into a group of anti-racism counterprotestors. The racism committee, part of the UN human rights office, can issue a formal early warning to help prevent "existing problems from escalating into conflict" or to "prevent a resumption of conflict where it has previously occurred", according to the rights office website.

At what point does the media go a bit to far you might ask? I'd say it already happened. Ask yourself, how many KKK, White Supremacists do you know? How many have you seen in public? Other than the news, when was the last time you saw them gather and protest or march? Was there a lot of them?

Obama did his part to disrupt racial tensions in the US, and while I don't see Trump doing that, perhaps I'm blind to it and he really is, I don't know. But if we as a nation, are so weak minded that we kowtow to whatever we are told to think, whatever we are told to believe, then we don't deserve to exist.

I am in the south, you know, where Slavery was the driving force for the Civil war and because of that, we are all racists to this day. And with all that, I see race relations as normal interaction with people. I don't see separate water fountains, I don't see separate bathrooms. (even for the guys in dresses) I see communities of people interacting as people.

It's sad that the Media has driven this message, likely under orders from whomever it is that drives the "narrative de-jour". I think the rest of the world is getting a wrong interpretation of who we are and how things really are.

Funny, where was the UN's formal statement about racism in the US under Obama?

So now the UN has weighed in on things occurring in the USA.
www.yahoo.com...

So apparently the UN has a problem with freedom of speech?

"We are alarmed by the racist demonstrations, with overtly racist slogans, chants and salutes by white nationalists, neo-Nazis, and the Ku Klux Klan, promoting white supremacy and inciting racial discrimination and hatred," committee head Anastasia Crickley said in a statement.

So a free country whose citizens have a legal right to demonstrate peacefully is now "alarming" to the UN?
If people are only allowed to demonstrate with UN approved issues there will be no opposition.

Or is this just another attempt to slander the potus?

The US warning marks the seventh such alert issued in the past decade. They mainly concern countries gripped by ethnic and religious strife, including Burundi, Nigeria, Iraq and Ivory Coast.

I will leave these here.

The threat or fear of violence should not become an excuse or justification for restricting freedom of speech.
Alan Dershowitz

Freedom of speech means freedom for those who you despise, and freedom to express the most despicable views. It also means that the government cannot pick and choose which expressions to authorize and which to prevent.
Alan Dershowitz

I have always wondered why people continue to blame Obama for the own racist views. He was a black president and that was his crime.

Now Trump on the other hand, how can anyone say he is making race relations any better. Who can honestly say that there were good people there among st the nazi 's and their chants. Good people do not stand by while these idiots chant, they would have did something or at the very least, been vocal about not being part of that group. Where are these people who have come forward and said we were not a part of those people and we did not march with them?

Where are they?

Obviously, Baltimore and Ferguson were nothing to the UN. Perhaps Trump should tell the UN to move elsewhere for their own safety to Syria, since they have done such a bang up job there.

I didn't notice Obama disrupting racial tensions in the US. He may have fomented racial tensions.

UN lost all credibilty when they combined the terms Saudi Arabia and human rights.
The UN is just saying this to validate the "reality" of their false narrative that TPTB are pushing. IMO.

Yeh because understanding what it feels like to be a minority in America is a major no no but perfectly OK for any other politician to compare himself to someone else less fortunate.

If I had a son........

He stoked the fires often. He was elected because he was a great orator. (when using a teleprompter) I don't think most people even cared about his skin pigmentation until he made it an issue. That was a shame.

How the hell does that equate to stirring racial tensions? The only thing you guys got is that he is able to relate to what it feels like to be a minority in America and for that you demonize him for that.

I have been sending this same message for a long time, here at ATS and other places around the WEB.

I know it is preaching to the choir, but we still have those folks out there with a plan, that are not about to stop pushing their agenda.

I know that it is smoke and mirrors. The real question is, what are they trying to cover up?

When wearing my tin foil cap, it leads me to think that they have to have a way of controlling the people and identifying their capabilities.

There has been talk of financial collapse for a long time. Many are saying it is long over due, considering the financial state we are in. This would cause a true uprising in the people. What a nightmare for the government to have the people of America that pissed off. Half of them with guns.

What an ingenious plan, stir up a divide among the people. Get it to escalate to the point that the government has to intervene to protect them from themselves. Declare martial law. Strip them of their guns, and then the government will have a better chance of success when they come to herd the dangerous masses into gulags.

Bringing in the globalists big guns are they?
The all-powerful, all-knowing UN, home of the unicorn rainbow people.
Charlottesville became a good excuse for them to condemn nationalism using racism as a pretext.
The UN is silent about the slow genocide of Whites in South Africa of course.
Just goes to show you where their loyalties lie and what their socialist intentions really are.
Break up every country through racial/tribal/religious differences.
Use the UN to restore order and introduce globalism through their various mandates and programs.
The racial problem in the US is way overblown, the vast majority of Americans don't play that game.
Put a few hundred together on tv and suddenly it's a big issue.
We really need to kick the UN out of New York.
Freedom is their last concern.

This is the sinister part imo.
They have no idea what free speech actually is.
They appear to only allow free speech when it agrees with their political view.
That is very dangerous.
I hope Nikki Haley calls these people out, and draws attention to their bs concern.

Do you believe that black people can be racist as well as white people?

I ask that because I think everyone has a little racial resentment in them in some form or another. I also believe the amount of that has decreased considerably over the years since we all know racism is taught and learned, not some inborn desire to hate.

If I bring up every decisive comment Obama made, it's going to look like I'm blaming him completely for everything. I'm not. I do believe that he was in a perfect position to do more for our countries race relations than any man in history and he dropped the ball. But in his defense, that really wasn't in his scope of work, it just would have been a really cool thing to do. (IMHO)

Of course anyone can be bigots/racists. Contrary to popular belief, white people do not have a stranglehold on that idiocy.

Hate is color blind and does effect anyone from any group.

Because Obama knew damn well this kid was a criminal thug, but turned it around as if he were the victim. What this does is, lets people know that you can do whatever you want, and if you're caught (or killed), it is because of RACISM!. Same story with Mike Brown and many of the rest.
