Antifa protesters assaulted a reporter filming in Richmond, Va., on Sunday night

hotair.com...

At least two journalists in Charlottesville were assaulted by people protesting the Klan/Nazi/alt-right rally.

pjmedia.com...

Note how the video makes it clear that Posobiec was talking to someone else when the man in the bike helmet lashed out and assaulted the cameraman. Then, when asked whether he had a problem, the man replied that he did and challenged either the cameraman or Posobiec to a fight.

www.halseynews.com...

Last weekend, Journalist Kevin J. Johnston was assaulted by the domestic terrorist group Antifa around noon on Saturday in Ottawa.

www.theblaze.com...

A journalist wrote in a piece published in Politico Tuesday that he was “attacked — and spared — because of my race” while he covered a recent Black Lives Matter protest in Milwaukee.

patrioticviralnews.com...

In the America envisioned by Black Lives Matter (BLM), white people are not safe. The video shows a clear case of assault. The protester deliberately and violently attacked the news reporter who posed no threat.

www.breitbart.com...

During another Black Lives Matter (BLM) rally in Philadelphia, a march organizer was caught on video making a case to segregate the media, demanding that white reporters move to the back to allow black reporters to stand in front of the group of reporters observing the rally.

www.federalisttribune.com...

A reporter for Fox News was assaulted by the BLM group when he was trying to cover a BLM rally. Unfortunately for them, this was all caught on video.

www.redstate.com...

At one point, the SJW’s were arguing with attendees, with Southern in the middle of it. One of the SJWs, wearing makeup and various bits of metal on his face, became violent. He lashed out at Southern, hitting and grabbing at her, pulling her along with him.

I searched for various terms like "alt right assaults reporter" and "trump supporter assaults reporter" and found very few examples, whereas the above was found in 3 simple Google searches and within the first 2 pages of each.
www.salon.com...

Wednesday’s incident in Montana, where Republican congressional candidate Greg Gianforte allegedly attacked Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs

www.latimes.com...

An OC Weekly reporter and two photographers said Sunday that they were physically assaulted by pro-Trump demonstrators at a Make America Great Again rally in Huntington Beach and are seeking the public’s help in identifying at least one of the people responsible.

Oh, this one is exemplary...
www.huffingtonpost.com...

But a Trump supporter in a black T-shirt did not appreciate having a microphone nearby. Brar’s camera operator caught the belligerent response to her overtures on tape.

“I don’t want to talk to the media. They’re liars. No thank you,” said the man in the black shirt.

“We’re not talking. We haven’t even asked you anything,” Brar insisted.

“I decline with regret,” the man replied, his tone growing angrier.

Then he swatted at Brar’s microphone with a rolled-up Trump placard.

“I will knock that out of your hand,” he said, pushing the microphone with increasing force. “I decline with regret. Who even knows you?”

Seeing the clash, local police officers dispersed the group, including the man who was acting aggressively.

The incident nonetheless reflects the potential dangers of Trump’s anti-journalist rhetoric.

OMFG, the man swatted a reporter's microphone away from his own face! FASCISM! RACISM!! TOTALITARIANISM!!!! But ANTIFAP and the Bureau of Land Management can physically beat down reporters for being white or daring to cover the actual news of these riots and violent tantrums and that's not the real threat against the media.

Unadulterated, biased, horsecrap once again brought to us by the good folks at CNN...

The media should be called Fascist.

The press of Italy is free, freer than the press of any other country, so long as it supports the regime. Benito Mussolini

The regime isn't the current administration.

It's their preferred political ideological group.

Well the initial responses in this thread certainly show The Daily Caller's fears may be justified.

Nothing I say should be taken with any seriousness or credibility.

I don't trust anyone's words on the internet, including the ones you just said now.

Well then everyone has a hall pass not to trust those.

the media is supposed to serve as a watchdog and alert the public when government tries to do things that are "perceived" to be against "the people's" best interest.

The media is not a watchdog. There are government agencies for that. They are not supposed to use perception but report the truth.

The media is supposed to be unbiased and as such is protected.

Really! I missed that part of the 1st Amendment. In fact, the media is supposed to serve as a watchdog and alert the public when government tries to do things that are "perceived" to be against "the people's" best interest. You can't fill that role unless you're using a critical eye against the government.

Albeit, a "biased" eye is not in the best interest of the people. You can't have a fox guard the henhouse.

If I recall Katie Couric had some urine thrown at her, but that's an antifa thing.

What definition of unbiased are you using?

I would honestly like to know.

Edit: Do you think a biased media is ok? It honestly would not surprise me that you would. Anything goes as long as the narrative can be sustained, correct?

so, do you think a firebomber will go up to the house, ring the doorbell, and see if anyone is currently inside the house, and if no one answers, firebomb it......regardless if a person is sleeping or taking a shower, or a baby is asleep in a back room, or simply doesn't answer the door because their parents told them not to , etc.....did you think before posting this?

The 1st Amendment gives the people and the Free Press the right to question those in power, and demand redress from the government when government agencies do not police themselves and are infiltrated with corruption.

Watchdog journalism informs the public about goings-on in institutions and society, especially in circumstances where a significant portion of the public would demand changes in response. This might involve:

Fact-checking statements of public officials.
Interviewing public figures and challenging them with problems or concerns.
Beat reporting to gather information from meetings that members of the public might not otherwise attend, and to observe "on the ground" in broader society
Investigative journalism, which involves information-gathering on a single story for a long period of time

Like a literal guard dog that barks when it notices an intruder, a "watchdog" role involves alerting others when a problem is detected. Common subjects are the government decision-making process, illegal activity, immorality, consumer protection issues, and environmental degradation.

Watchdog journalism can be located in a variety of news media, such as radio, television, Internet, and print media where it may be seen as "a unique strength of newspapers", and additional new media and concepts such as weblogs and citizen journalism. Watchdog journalists also are called "watchmen",[ "agents of social control", or "moral guardians".

Do public officials feel scared and threatened when MSM rile up public tensions by resisting the legitimately elected President of the US at every turn? Do the left-wing media take any responsibility for the attempted murder of Scalise and his companions?

A right-wing crazy does something crazy and it represents a trump sanctioned state of national emergency.

A left-wing crazy does something crazy and it is played off as just an isolated incident from someone with mental issues.

They don't even try to hide the bias anymore.

Fox News. Fox News is definitely the standard for fair and balanced, unbiased news reporting!

The liberal media is partially responsible for Congressman Steve scalise being shot a few months ago. Most likely, the shooter watched domestic terrorists CNN and or MSNBC.

Hahahaaaa wow...you really just can't make this sh!t up. It just keeps getting better.

Soooooo...the people who have made it their life's greatest mission to bash, slander, ridicule, hound, harangue and otherwise attempt to undermine the efforts of a sitting US President and encourage their fellow Americans to do the same, thereby putting the entire nation at risk and in a constant state of fear and turmoil, are now suddenly scared little helpless victims? That's cute.

Maybe if they had stuck to reporting the actual news instead of making excuses for and sensationalizing the division and blind hatred rampant in our country and taking ownership of their own starring role in the atrocities that have resulted, the American people whom they've been manipulating wouldn't have had any reason to focus on them in the first place. It is a Universal fact that people reap exactly what they sow, and these assholes have planted fields upon fields, fertilized with their own hyperbolic, disingenuous bull#. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together should be able to grasp the concept of the law of attraction and apply it here.

They're not scared for their safety. They're in a panic because, despite their greatest efforts, people are starting to realize that something very sketchy is going on and are seeking answers. They're being exposed for what they are, and the only dance move they've got left is emotional manipulation.

Welcome to the Karma Cafe. There are no menus. You get served what you deserve.

Do you ever watch Shepard Smith on Fox News? Oftentimes you can't tell which side he is for or against. The anchors at CNN and MSNBC leave no doubt that they are against Republicans the country and the president.

Actually they would blame Trump's "divisive rhetoric" for the lefty's crazy actions. It's been done before.
