I'm assuming you have a point?
It's a pathetic attempt at labeling left wing people are racist because their ancestors were racist. They don't understand they are doing nothing more
than providing more reasons for statues of traitors to be taken down.
Don't be dense. The take away here is that history doesn't make a person or a culture racist. Times change, social expectations and norms change,
and regional differences shift as time passes. I can sit here right now and say I don't know if any of my ancestors were slaves or slave owners and,
honestly, neither revelation would change my gratitude towards them one bit. In the same vein, I'd be a liar if I said I'd love to take a magic
carpet ride into the past and eliminate everything from America's history that we today find socially unacceptable. The systems used in those times
built America, built a powerhouse, and crafted a country where we can enjoy the fruits of being the most powerful military and economy on Earth.
It isn't being racist to say slavery in America was what it was, or this country's domination over the indians was what it was, or that this country's
mistreatment of the Irish was what it was and all those and more combined to build for each of us a life where we can safely sit behind the glow of a
monitor and incessantly bitch about damn near anything without worrying about some Gestapo storm troops busting down our door or taking our rights
from us over our grievances. It's not racism, it's realism... a realism that some liberals bury their heads in the sand over and want to destroy
history over because, frankly, being ashamed or horrified at this country's past or trying to apply today's norms to history makes as much sense as
the various concepts of original sin that many of the same liberals mock in whatever religions espouse it.
