The Obama policy that specifically targeted certain businesses (by the backdoor) has ended.

Gun shops (and coal related companies and other "questionable businesses") were in the sights and the banks were unloading the credit lines and getting "investigated" by the Feds.

Now it's over.

It was a highly prejudicial policy based on bitter jealousy and political motivations that failed.

Trump Ends Obama’s ‘Operation Choke Point’

The Department of Justice has ended Operation Choke Point, a program used by the Obama administration to cut off credit to businesses, which was challenged by Republicans who argued it unfairly targeted firearms dealers and other lawful operations.

Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd sent out a letter Wednesday confirming the end of Choke Point, just days after House Republicans had pressed Attorney General Jeff Sessions to kill the practice.

“All of the Department’s bank investigations conducted as part of Operation Chokepoint are now over, the initiative is no longer in effect, and it will not be undertaken again,” Boyd said in the letter, calling it a “misguided initiative” from the previous administration.

“The Department is committed to bringing enforcement actions only where warranted by the facts and the applicable law, Without regard to political preferences. This approach honors the Departments fundamental obligation to focus on the lawbreakers that deserve our undivided attention, and thereby protect the American public from fraud and other criminal activity,” the letter read.

Ahem..good.

"Choke point" as a term by our representative government should have never been accepted.

However, we are still SUFFERING under the policies and EO's of the disastrous, prior administration.

Obama's legacy should be wiped away like tissue across an anus and flushed.

Every time I start to lose confidence in the Trump Administration, they come back with something that I wholeheartedly applaud. Trump has done so many good things, it's hard to reconcile it with the foolish things. It must be that he wants to help the country, and is doing what he can, but is easily distracted, and oft-manipulated. Still, Op-Choke Point deserved to die. Kudos.

I now challenge you to find an Obama administration policy that wasnt dedicated to the above ideology .
Or even one speech....

Right........Trump doesn't want anyone investigating money laundering operations! That would be bad for business!

Basically they were taking the beliefs of certain people and using it to choke off anything they did not believe was appropriate in their minds. That was a bad policy, a group of people begin to rule our country and take away people's rights by blocking their access to things.

I`ve never heard of choke point but it sounds like it might be a violation of the RICO act, and you say the Obama administration was involved in it eh? maybe the justice dept. should look into this.

The Chokepoint operatives were clever.

They emphasized some real dirty things and got results.

But they also illegally targeted legitimate "unPC" businesses that were the real targets.

Some of the money laundering targets got "excused" and opened up later to continue the agendas.

Some I'm sure were setup "in advance" to make themselves easy targets on purpose.

It was a clever "in house" operation.

Obama's overall policy was politically motivated abuse of power, special investigator time.

What are you talking about besides off-topic, irrelevant noise??

Operation Choke Point attempted to discourage banks from offering financial services to customers and businesses the Obama administration deemed as “high risk,” which included small businesses in need of short-term loan and firearms dealers.

“Operation Choke Point was an Obama Administration initiative that destroyed legitimate businesses to which that Administration was ideologically opposed (e.g., firearms dealers) by intimidating financial institutions into denying banking services to those businesses,” the GOP lawmakers wrote.

Who money launders through gun dealers??!! There are tens of thousands of other businesses that handle way more cash on a daily basis through construction, investments, etc. that would be ideal for money laundering - not your local gun dealer. This was Obama attempting do put businesses with practices HE didnt agree with (ideologically-speaking) through the ringer. And what this has to do with Trump...?....please provide facts about whatever youre implying that are on topic (you cant)

Operation Choke Point was meant to target money launderers and unregulated payday loan predators, that have been known to be used to launder organized crime, drug dealers and terror organization funds.

What is the Trump administration going to do to curb illegal and dangerous money laundering outlets now?

Operation Choke Point is an initiative of the United States Department of Justice that was announced in 2013, which is investigating banks in the United States and the business that do with payment processors, payday lenders, and other companies believed to be at higher risk for fraud and money laundering.

What gun dealers? What legitimate gun businesses were targeted? What kind of deals were stopped? Or, were these people selling weapons to gangsters who were using drug money.

The only record of businesses that have been affected by this law, that I can see, are some banks like Wells Fargo, banks that aided payday loan companies illegally bilk unwitting people and payday loan outlets straight up.

How will the Trump administration deal with the problem? Or, is money laundering fake news?

I thought you were concerned with President Trumps laundering..(UNFOUNDED)..and yet you ask what the present administration is going to do about previous administration policies?

Could swear the OP addressed that.

You must be daft...or heavily pushing an agenda..
