Same effect in my cell-phone eclipse photos. Thought it was a UFO.

Tiny crescents of light filtering through my colander:

"It is easier for lasagna to pass through the holes of a colander than it is for a rich person to enter Paradise."

- Ishmali Camuwundra.

For me, it was a religious experience. R'Amen.

And the crickets went crazy about 15 minutes before peak (96% in my area) and for 15 minutes+ after.

If anyone's interested, NASA TV will be talking to the ISS in about 15 minutes and they'll be showing the video they took of the eclipse and what it looked like from space.

Should be a pretty cool video to see it from their viewpoint.

Crickets went nuts in Alabama. Was kind of disappointed by the entire experience, but pretty neat to be a part of.

Not a sound here, or a leaf blowing, or a bird song, I just wanted to stand right under it.

I wasn't sure it was what I thought it was at first,

My yard has dozens of trees many about 100 years old if not older.

I noticed as I played around with stuff to filter light through that there was an optimum distance to cast light/shadows to capture the crescents. I believe you did. I can't imagine all those leaves filtering crescent shaped light in the same direction if it was not during an eclipse!

They had footage of the transit of the ISS across the sun.

Did you have the safety glasses?

I would have been disappointed if I didn't have them. I was amazed that I could see the beauty of the eclipse with them! I didn't managed to nab a pair until 9 a.m., this morning through a friend of a friend and I had to drive to a nearby town to pick them up.

My kids and I shared the one pair. It was MORE than I imagined I would be able to see.

(Of course I started day-drinking when it started...that may have made it super-fabulous, for me.)

LOL no I didn't have safety glasses. Sacrificed my retinas in the name of science. But I got off of work about 4 hours before it started, took a quick nap, and then began drinking.

In 2024 an eclipse is going to cross coming from the east and cross this eclipse path right in southern Illinois, In little Egypt.

We have a town named Cairo, I also find it interesting that the mounds are there.Cahokia Mounds

Kinda like the pyramids.
