I wonder what the voices of Canada are going to say as the refugee crisis is transferred from our borders to theirs. I seem to recall how important it was to Canadians for Americans to open their arms and embrace these ... invaders. Of course, that was when they were on our souther border and a thousand miles and more from theirs.

Shoe's on the other foot now. Haven't heard the accent of hypocrisy yet, but as thousands and thousands of them pour un-checked across the Canadian border, my ears are perked up. Will Canada build a wall and force us to pay for it?

Source
Most of the new arrivals are Haitians who face expulsion from the United States at the end of the year. Then, temporary asylum granted to 60,000 Haitians affected by a devastating 2010 earthquake is due to expire.

Their numbers have soared from about 400 in May to 3,800 in the first weeks of August.

The one thing these people know ... is that they don't want to go back to where they came from. They want to freeload off anyone who will take them in.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has often touted Canada's immigration and refugee system, saying at the start of the year: "To all those fleeing persecution, terror and war, Canadians will welcome you."

But as officials struggle to keep pace with the burgeoning number of arrivals, opposition politicians and anti-immigration groups have fueled a backlash with calls to close the border to walk-in asylum seekers.

Make sure you read some of the comments below the article. Eye opening stuff.

What crisis lol, must be so big that pretty much most of canada is not affected by this surge of immigrants.

Quebec is the french speaking province, and has been taking hatians in since the 80s, its and old french colony so its easier for them to integrate.

But thanks for being fearful for us canadians.

I hear on the grapevine they are going for a moat with sharks and orcas.

Now is the time to be friendly, you can take what they dig up and move it to the Southern border to build the wall.

3,800 is small potatoes compared to what is coming.

Canada, you need a huge backlash or it will be Europe all over again.

There's 60,000 more behind them. The only chance Canada has is an early winter.

What can we do ?

Try to help as best we can, if our resources and abilities become limited due to our much lower GDP and limited developed areas across the country, then some of these people unfortunately might have to be turned away.

It's all any of us can do.

....

....

....

Or would you much rather just play the "nah nah boo boo" infantile game that you're opening post strongly emits ?

It's your thread, chummy.

The ball's in your court.

Suck 'em up, Buttercup.

If it ends at 60K, the dispersion may keep your country's society from being fundamentally changed. If another million follow them in ... well ... then you'll know how we feel.

So infantile game it is then.

Enjoy.

Here we go again.
They are NOT refugees, they are MIGRANTS and as such they can be legally deported ANY TIME. They have no rights to claim asylum, non whatsoever. Just because your government hasn't got the boll**** to send them back does not mean they can't.
YOU pay the price.

Winter has no effect. They walked through snow last year. Some had to get amputated from frostbite. Unless these were different refugees.

I don't want them but everybody seems brainwashed these days to accept and love everyone. If you don't then your compared to Trump. See, in your country he's causing divisiveness and in ours, it's let's all come together bull#.

There's an old saw in the northern climes. When the U.S. sneezes, Canada catches a cold.

There IS a valid analogy in the U.S. immigration issue with the current, developing one in Canada. There have been a number of Canadian posts expressing their 'unhappiness' with the Trudeau decision. Not anywhere enough, from what I can see.

The start is much like the U.S.'s. Much 'compassion' for these illegals and refugees. After all they just want a better life for them and their families. Much like our forefathers did. No big deal, right?

What started in the U.S. from the south was a trickle. What ended up was massive. An estimated 20 million illegals/'undocumented' immigrants.

That approaches 2/3s of Canada's existing population. Please remember that the U.S. never bowed to international law that requires every country accept all who claim refugee status until each and every claim is verified or not. A two year process. Even without that cross to bear, what started as illegals from the south became about only 25% of the total illegals entering the U.S..

In other words, others around the world saw the ease of it and joined the party. Now the newly arrived create actvists to continue the momentum so as to bring in 'family members' from the old country and their they their family members. Chain immigration was how it's labelled in the U.S..

Now the Chamber of Commerce of Canada enters the fray with the goal of cheaper labor. Next, the left joins in with offers of freebies that induce the 'newly arrived' to vote for socialist support. Then there's the profits side for those that support the new arrivals. They want it to not only continue but to grow.

There IS evidence of where this all goes.

It 'should' have been nipped in the bud during the Reagan era. It wasn't.

Simply put, Canada can learn from the U.S.'s errors, but rarely does. Wanting a better life for a oneself and one's family is a given by virtually all the 7 billion souls on this rock. It cannot be 'the criteria' for immigration control or the will be no immigration control.

There are too many to take.

Yes, it's taken decades to take fully hold in the U.S.. Don't let it get to that point in Canada.

This isn't a criticism, it's a heads up........

Why are these people being called refugees? Quoting from the same article as the OP, there's this:

On Thursday, Transportation Minister Marc Garneau warned that getting into Canada "is not an automatic ticket to being accepted here as a refugee."

"Those who might wish to seek asylum (must) fully understand the rules under which we operate, which is that unless you are being persecuted or fleeing terror or war, you would not qualify as a refugee," he said.

I wonder if fear of being deported from the US as an illegal immigrant counts as a refugee? I doubt it. It looks like we might get a lot of these people back even though we don't want them. It will be pure irony if Canada hands them over to ICE since ICE couldn't find them to deport them.
