There was a time where you'd be hard pressed to find anyone on ATS saying anything at all in defense of the U.S. government or any politician, whether right or left... we were considered crazy fringe lunatics for saying things like the government has a massive surveillance program. There was a time were I found myself supporting people who had the initiative to get out on the streets and hold a good old fashioned protest, I think the people who protested on Wall Street after the global financial collapse certainly had every reason to do so and I wrote a thread defending them at the time because many people were calling them communists or what ever just because they wanted a fairer financial system.

Fast forward to today and ATS shows more support for the President than virtually any mainstream network in existence. The MSM are now the conspiracy theorists with narratives such as the Russia scandal. They are now the detractors and the critics of the government and they support anarchistic groups such as Antifa. Despite being used like a fiddle by the deep state these protesters truly think they are anti-establishment, they watched some zeitgeist and they're convinced the only way to enlightenment is to get rid of all money and hand over all control of global resources to some all powerful central authority so that we can live in the ultimate communistic one world government.

They think they went "down the rabbit hole" even though they just learned who Anonymous and Assange is a few months ago. Personally I find it quite insulting that these people have the gull to label themselves as some sort of truth seekers or purveyors of radical change. Do not be mistaken, we are still the counterculture, we are still the anti-establishment, we are still outside the mainstream, and we will always run against the grain, against lies and manufactured morality. I don't doubt most of them have good intentions but mix that with naivety and the path to hell is easily paved. There is saying I recently heard: "Hell is full of good meanings, but heaven is full of good works".

I remember years back trying to tell people how the money system is corrupt, but back then it wasn't trendy and I was just crazy. In 2013 I even wrote a two part series on the topic of the corrupt money system (see link in sig). In early 2011 I wrote a thread explaining how P2P money like Bitcoin can let us defeat the rigged money system... of course I was crazy for believing in "fake" money you cannot hold in your hand. I understand the money system is corrupt but I also understand that heavy socialism is not the solution unless you want a nanny state; the ultimate big brother establishment. Capitalism and free market economics also isn't the problem, they have helped form some of the most powerful nations on Earth.

The money system we have now with the debt based central banking system is obviously not the most ideal design, but that's no fault of the free market system, it's down to bankers trying to make it less free. The solution isn't to head down the path which leads to communist nations like NK and China, and it certainly isn't going to help your cause if you dress like a black ninja because you think it's edgy and rebellious and then run around committing criminal acts. I understand some things are worth getting angry about and protests are often required, but using nothing but brute force to get what you want will never end well regardless of how right you think you are.

"My limits for self-deception were as infinite as my capacity for goodness ... I saw how all of my social network was like completely wrapped in the trappings of the counter culture while trumpeting the ideology of the mainstream... like it's f'd up."

Excellent point. Everyone is eating up the establishment these days.

Speak ill of the left, and your a racist alt right.

There is nothing that expresses a conformist mentality quite so categorically as mass non-conformity.

It's laughable that anyone thinks Trump is establishment.

I can't recall a time there's been the level of infighting we see today.

The media can hardly be called journalism. Outright lying to the public and has become nothing more than a propaganda arm of the democratic party because 8 months later they still can't own up to the fact the lost the last election.

They created Russia false flag, boogieman called 'fascists', and everything else they can think of to try to take back power.

There's more TRUTH on ATS than you will ever see on tv.

Are these rioters actually real people that can think about the consequences of their actions; like burning down their own towns with them in it ?

Is it possible that they are all simple minded chip implant bots that obey orders from their 'handlers' 24/7 ?

Surely, adults are not this stupid.

Usually the conspiracy crowd flips back and forth between parties always against those in power..

Which I still expect to happen..

You can't have big crazy conspiracies when your guy is running things without him being in on it...

All of this is legitimately over Russia....

Trump thought he was losing a very contentious race and then got offered a really good deal by rthe Russian governments..

Trade potentially bombshell info on Hillary in exchange for almost nothing... drop sanctions and don't start WW3 over Ukraine...

Then trump got caught..

The FBI types who wake up every morning to go fight the Russians found out and weren't having it..

All the crazy conspiracies are right wing..

Elite pedo rings in pizza shops..

Obamas birth certificate

Exc..

Look at the numbers on government institutions across the board and you'll see why being anti-establishment is trendy. No one trusts authority in any form these days. Congress is unpopular. The executive is unpopular. The courts are unpopular. SCOTUS used to be widely held in fairly high regard and trusted, but it's numbers are shot to heck.

This would lead to anti-establishment sentiment being widespread.

Oh, and hipsters ... they ironically conform by not conforming.

Great thread CO.

I read it and flagged it earlier.

I remember 2011/2012 like it was yesterday. ATS, for the most part was rooting for Ron Paul. Most here recognized what the establishment was. We were the grass roots epitome of common sense. We agreed on states rights, individual freedom, taking down special interest groups, no more CPACS, agreed on new term limits for all within government, and for ending the IRS, the FED and corporate lobbyism. We wanted a gold standard to return, and be rid of the fake fiat monetary system. We loved the free markets. We recognized the issue of police brutality as well as the growing police state, and it wasn't racial, but universal. Many woke up to the media's constant lies, spin, and deception, and the huge role they played against the liberty movement. We hoped for revolution in a non violent way. We hoped our votes would matter, and they didnt. The establishment changed their own rules so that we no longer had a voice.

At the same time came OWS, which seemed ok at first. Then they shouted down the liberty movement. Then, it all became about racist boogeymen, and the birth of the 'sjw' happened. And the children of OWS were BLM and the new U.S. version of Antifa.

The indoctrination of American youth through the U.S. education system has been the main player since this wicked game even started.

The rest is history . Welcome to Hell, and it's called the destruction of western civilization.
