I don't like slavery ,but I won't forget it happened and it will NOT be allowed in the open here, again.

I don't think anyone here thinks slavery is good.
150 years ago you would have gotten a different answer though.
It was the majority view North and South and some used the bible to justify it, others to condemn it but when it came down to it nobody was willing to pay to emancipate the slaves nor did they know what would happen if they were all free.
What would happen if you gave freedom to 4 million souls without money, land or property of any kind?
Total chaos. So it continued

Virginia legislature had a law up for passage to end slavery in Virginia and it had a decent chance of passing right as the states began secession.

Slavery was not the cause of the Civil War!!!

How can you say this? - How can you oppose the 'Liberal Mindset"?

I was taught the same thing in high school - Yes, in a North Eastern Liberal state - But that was a long time ago.

Have you ever wondered why there are so few Liberal talk show hosts on talk radio?

They have nothing to say - You can easily program a computer program to give you all the scripted answers that a Liberal will give you to political questions - Liberal talk show hosts become boring quickly.

Trump is a thinker - a clear and present danger to the Liberal ideology [or the lack thereof]

That said - these neo-nazis and racists are not doing any good for any of us - Just playing into the liberal agenda
- that says everyone is equal - so equal so as to create the homogenized nobody - Sound like North Korea?

I attended school in NY state for all but 3 years.

The left seems to offer more emotionally - it becomes almost cathartic for these young people and it fills a need for meaning in life. It feels good to think you're being accepted in wider social circles because you are "down" with their grievances even though they are simply tolerating you as a useful tool.

And I'm guessing you've never watched more than half a documentary on the subject..

The ken burns one is the best one , plenty of southern historians to tell the tale..

EVERYTHIBG political revolved around slavery..

They didn't have liberals and conservatives..

They had free states and slave states..

All votes were along those political lines..

Treason is a legal definition.. not subjective nor emotional..

If you take up arms against your nation of birth . Your a traitor who has committed treason.. by definition..

A bill I'm sure had zero chance of happening...

The south was making zero effort to abolish slavery..

Yes according to history you learned in school, the civil war was about the control of money,as usual war doesn't sound good until you put another reason other then the truth, and funny thing, the confederates had majority of slaves and immigrants, the minority, yet they are vilified by the government

Thanks for this! I've not seen it before. It certainly is interesting, and just makes my assumption that the "official" cause of the Civil war might have been because of slavery, but the real reason was to fight for power, as usual. People fail to understand that almost all wars are started on a lie and a false premise.

Here are just some examples: World War 1 and 2

It was entirely about slavery and preserving a way of life for the people who were on the battlefield.

The lack of comprehension in questions asked in this thread, already answered in the OP is... expected, sadly.

Great thread, I was going to post the same later, glad you beat me to it. Now I don't have to take an aspirin.

The lack of knowledge period by those getting so huffy and puffy about things that their posts, vocabulary/spelling, misrepresented "facts," fallacious supporting argumemts is quite unexpected if you ask me. Sad though, to use another word from your post.

Ps. And not to be that guy but OMG people it wasn't succession or succeed, try secession AMD seceding my gosh

you know it is interesting that on a web site dedicated to the unknown and conspiracy's of the world, where people routinely discuss a secret cabal of rich and powerful people deciding what happens in the world.

Will look back in history at the Civil war and make sweeping declarations about how people who could not afford to buy boots, were some how convinced to fight to keep the black man in chains and that was the only reason they fought. Never pausing to consider if a cabal of the rich and powerful started the war to keep their wealth and increase their power.

Remember folks, the rich and powerful start wars, the regular people fight and die in them.

Hmmm,I wonder why some those "treasonous" Confederate Officers still have military bases named for them?

Fort Benning and Fort Bragg just to name a couple. There are more.

That is a complicated thought process for the1800 southerner. They accepted there was a rich class and they were the rubbish. But they could rape, own, sell, and hang the N's. That way of life was worth dying for. And it was their Christian duty.
