“We must never celebrate those who defended slavery and tried to destroy the union,” Abrams said in a series of tweets posted early Tuesday, a response to the deadly violence sparked by white supremacist groups in Charlottesville, Va.

Abrams calls for removal of Confederate faces off Stone Mountain

Even though she is using this as part of her political campaign, I can't support this sentiment enough.

Members of the confederacy are 1. Losers of a war, and 2. Traitors to the constitutional values of our great Union.

They should not be celebrated and should be forgotten.

Wow, we're really going back over a hundred years to be outraged and wanting to tear monuments down. Pretty dumb. Thankfully this will never happen and this is just a minority nutjob.

Actually, this is most likely going to happen soon. Just as the rest of the monuments to REL are being removed.

I dont give a rat's a** what happens in another State...
Abrams is just another lunatic leftist. Like Pelosi , Waters.
Warren has backed off recently and puts forward at least a bit of intelligence now
And , yes being from Georgia I know who Abrams is. I dont think she will win the election. Folks are beginning to see her for what she is.

Fine, do not celebrate them. But DO NOT FORGET OUR HISTORY. We cant just whitewash history that we find uncomfortable. Something something something learn from history, something something something, doomed to repeat it.

Why don't you see this flag hung around the United States?

It's not our history. Do we have monuments to the British generals who fought against our Union? The Confederates were all traitors who took up arms against American ideals.

He was an imperfect American. The Confederates were not American, they were traitors to our great nation.

The visages of the traitors will come down with just a tiny bit of sand blasting

He was also a Christian. That's pretty offensive to some people.

Ask yourself why they were simply allowed to go home after the war rather than being hung. I mean, if they were traitors as you say, why weren't they treated like that and hung?

There must have been a reason. Perhaps you should go study yourself some history instead of trying to correct what you see as history's horrible mistakes.

Or perhaps, why stop halfway? Perhaps you ought to demolish every Federal building in West Virginia. Over 50 of them are named for Robert Byrd, a former KKK member.

No! They were Americans and most of the officers in question fought the Mexican-American War alongside many of the same men they later ended up fighting against.

Can you point to another traitor that we have monuments to? Do we have monuments of the British who fought against our brave populace in the Revolutionary war?

"Confederate monuments are important!"

"Losers don't deserve participation trophies!"

Yeah, btw, the plan is in no short order, to remove all confederate monuments(nobody wants to erase history). A lot of people think that the representatives of the confederacy shouldn't be held in such high regard.
