You assumed I'm a Republican, which I am not. You assume that I'm supporting racism, which I am not. And even if I were, to say all Republicans are in fact racist would be bigotry.

Let's get beyond the innuendo and slander, because if we as a country cannot get past the partisan garbage, there is not much hope. The vandals are a representation of that.

First off I say what I mean, I have a diverse array of firearms and I know a selector switch when I see one, and two nice try attempting to move past the point I was making....you dont show up to a peaceful rally with firearms all in the spirit of compromise that it seems went over your head?

Some Selector switches have a spot for SAFE. Seen AR-15 selector with just safe and semi on it too. SO is there any way you can be sure it was a full auto?

And Cops show up with weapons at peaceful rallies. why? arent they peaceful and willing to compromise?

I live in Durham and this pisses me off.

The time has past for enforcement of the laws of the land. No one has bothered in quite some time.

I find it unconscionable that the Durham Police stood by and allowed public property to be destroyed and did nothing!

What's next? The burning of the court's building because it somehow represents some injustice and offends the Left's political sensibilities?

If the Law does not investigate and the AG does not bring charges against ALL those involved, directly or as accessories, and try them in a court of law then we can just throw in the towel and call the great American experiment of freedom dead.

It is the law and the fair application of the law that makes this country and it's freedoms happen. It is the very thing that keeps us from absolute anarchy like the toppling of that statue.

A just sentence for these miscreants would be time for destruction, restitution for the cost of repair and REPLACEMENT of the statue.

Didnt lincoln betray his presidential oath of office by breaking 11 laws? At th every least he should had been replaced as President because that was also traitorous according to the law.

Address my comments that this doesn't remove viability of history at all.

Racism isn't something that had 'evidence', it's something that was. There are many positive values to come from the Confederate, particularly states rights, but the few negatives there were, or rather, single negative, racism, is enough to supersede that idea as positive all together.

For example it's 'bad' to sympathize with Nazi's(genocide) but this doesn't mean reading through history you cannot find an easy way to understand them through empathy. The same goes with Confederate things, Southerners just haven't caught up with the concept yet. It's as much paraphernalia as a Swastika, and it's in a public space. What you are so graciously calling history and calling out the others as vandals, shows you have a backed horse. I understand your point, it's just wrong because there is an easy flip side to understand why what was done, was done. I don't support it, it's just not 'mysterious' and 'interesting' to me that this happened. If it happened the way you wish(representatives) you might have never found out about it at all.

Technically? No. Lincoln was not a traitor. His actions were done in the name of preserving three country.

Just to remind everyone of definition of treason in the US:

Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open Court.

I spent some time looking at Union and Confederate soldiers today.
