Well that is typical media, but nazi rallies that end up in fatalities have a certain optic no?

Maybe...a rally planned to be non-violent that turned into a clash between two groups is not really much different then what we have seen a good deal lately under both presidents. Some stupid guy getting all triggered to ram a crowd seems to head down a different path than the whole issue at hand.

Media was minute by minute long before the car guy came along. Bunch of people running back and forth with a few swinging sticks was about all we had until some crazy used his car.

Nah they're not racists they just support muslim bans and deportations and 100% of the time defend white supremacist rallies over BLM.

Come on. We don't want to be too PC right? Call a spade a spade. They are what they are.

Is there anyone on ATS that is suggesting they are in support of this hate group?

Not directly, they would never do that. All one has to do, however, is spend 10 minutes going through some of the Charlottesville threads to see there are plenty of people who are either defending, excusing or outright denying the drivers actions - interspersed with comments along the lines of "I wholly blame the counter-protesters" and "They deserve what they got".

It doesn't take a genius to put two and two together here.

Right. It was never planned to be peaceful.

Try reading some of the groups literature. They also brought weapons. A race war is what they want. Probably don't know a thing about Lee

Everyone's actions is their own fault, good or bad...That guy getting triggered is his own fault no matter the cause of the triggering. The woman hit by the car went purposely to a violent event and so she was also responsible for her actions that help lead to her death.

To dislike the agenda of the counter protesters does not make you a racist or even in support of the racist protesters. This far left movement to shut down any speech they deem incorrect gives me concern and we have seen a good deal of that lately too. The ones acting the most like a fascist group has been the self proclaimed anti-fascist movement. They have been rather aggressive so I'm not sure what caused the violence this weekend..the group protesting the removal of the statue, or the group that went there to stop their protesting...

How much violence would there be is a group went to protest something and no one paid them any attention. It was like to gang rivals fighting...

So, in your version of the world, one cannot reasonably expect to be able to freely protest without having to expect being run over by a psychopath in a car?

That's not the world I wish to live in thanks.

Reports from Charlottesville from multiple people describe the white supremacists first being armed to the teeth and the counter-protesters following suit only when they realized the white supremacist nutjobs were planning to get violent. Sounds more like a case of the counter-protesters arming up merely to defend themselves in response.

I made that point aseveral times the left needs to hold a rally in another town... but that they knew the left would be ready to pop

That isn't the same thing though as planning a peaceful rally. They did not plan on a peaceull rally, they were armed. Did MLK arm his folks for nonviolent rallies? They sure took a beating so don't say it's worse now.

Can you explain how fascists are trying to uphold the first amend?

So you believe fascists believe in free speech? They are cowards who hide behind the constitution. Sure they deserve to say their piece and have rights but call it as it is.

Who hit first I wonder? As I said doesn't matter to me since both groups are nut jobs... I'm sure the counter protestors ran home to change into their "Kill White supremacist" T-shirts too when they saw the racist asses geared up...lol

I know some local church groups got beat by nazis and they were literally holding hands being non violent. Probably even some republicans in those groups.

Sure...but it has been the anti-fascists preventing the 1st. The one group we know who they are the other is hiding behind an anti label. As I said both groups are one and the same to me...

It is safe to say both sides were triggered for violence. I would have loved to see the Nazis hit on people not doing anything and get their Nazis asses arrested.

Well some were just regular people who don't like nazi in their town, and I wouldn't call a socialist or anarchist anti fascist

Personally I am anti fascist aren't you? I am against the principles of fascism.

And no it was a group effort not the antI side. There was never the intention of a nonviolent protest. That is a fantasy.

Eta OK. That's all I need to hear. It would be great if that happened and if the left antogonists were grown ups it would have.

I think we can both agree the authorities are actually to blame for even letting it happen. Who ever gave the stand down order. If they were afraid of the militia they should have called more guard in.

See, that's a fine example of what's called "making stuff up". The white supremacists turned up looking for violence, forcing the counters to defend themselves and it culminated in a white supremacist nutjob plowing a car into a crowd injuring and killing.

Nobody "ran home" and put on "Kill White Supremacist" tshirts and I challenge you to find an image of one.

This incident is 100% the fault of the white supremacist Trump supporter nutjobs.

The fact that the Police were afraid of the militia and stood down should end the debate as to who started the violence. The Police didn't stand down because of the counter protesters, it was the armed-to-the-teeth white supremacist nutjobs.

The police didn't stop the violence. It's their job they failed. Militias have been at many protests. If they were scared call the guard and cancel the event. The first amend says peaceful assembly. They could have cancelled after the first night.
