The American Eclipse

There is a thread for ‘Eclipse Porn’ but I would like to have a more astrologically reasoned look at the upcoming eclipse.

I am leaving shortly but will add links and further info when I return this evening.

This eclipse will take place on August 21, 2107, in the morning. The totality of the eclipse will only be visible from within the USA. It will travel through the 11th, 10th and 9th houses representing, among other things, Congress, The Presidency, The Courts.

The eclipse will take place at 28 degrees Leo 53 seconds which just happens to coincide with Mr. Trump’s Ascendant.

Also of note is the loosely conjuncted Mars at 20 degrees Leo 41 seconds representing, also among other things, war and violence. There are also a trine to Uranus (close) and a sextile to (loose) to Jupiter (but Jupiter is in close sextile to Mars).

Traditionally eclipses have been harbingers of disaster and the ‘downfall’ of kings.

The last time a total eclipse in Leo happened was during the time of Bill Clinton’s impeachment. That eclipse was not visible in the US.

Eclipses are also associated with Mundane or Collective matters rather then more personal ones but the eclipse will effect us all as individuals as well depending on the natal chart. The timing of specific events is very loose as well and cover a wide scope.

So 9th 10th and 11th houses traditionally mean: foreign, the world at large and friends...depending of course on what planet and what angles planets have with one another within these structures.

I need to look at an ephemeris but im unsure how you arrive at congress the court and the president exclusively.

Can you explain this to me astrologically?

I'm assuming your chart is located in DC? It doesn't matter I guess -- the houses still correspond!

This is definitely a challenge for the president. And the eclipse's inclusive path would indicate it will be a domestic challenge -- probably regarding the investigations. I think it's worth noting the trine between the 1st house position of the eclipse in Trump's natal chart, and its trine to the 9th house position in the DC chart. This bodes well for Trump.

I expect Trump's greatest enemy is himself, as represented by his 12th house Mars and Pluto. I expect a full-on media assault against Trump to begin very soon -- the press is also represented in the 9th. (The press should probably also be concerned....) There will be much trash talk on both sides no doubt. But I don't trust Trump's public position to be the same as his private position.

But the bottom line for Trump's success or failure is the people. Leo also makes the overall influence/effect very populist in nature. For Trump, "success" only means making/keeping the people happy.

The OP is right -- the congress (11th house), the courts (9th house), and the president (10th house) are definitely represented here, but there's so much more! Moon Valley Astrologer gives these associations:

Ninth House – Corresponds to long distance travel whether for passengers or commerce; air travel, shipping, sea traffic, foreign imports and exports, foreign lands, high seas, and weather conditions around the coasts. It rules foreigners, exchange students, immigration and long distance communication. From Noel Tyl - House 11 "Congress; advisory groups of and for the people, national policies and goals" for one ....

for two from same source House 10 "The seat of government; head of state, the party in power, royalty, ntiona's honors and world status.

and three House 9 "Long distance travel, shipping, imports and exports, laws, religions, science, institutions of higher education, immigration, publishing.

All above from chapter on "Advanced House Readings" in "The houses their Signs and Planets" 1974 an oldie but goodie.

The numbers and such are easily verifiable with a simple google search for Astrology 8/21/7 eclipse or somesuch. I'm still looking up things. You could start with the August 11, 2017 Podcast from Chris Flisher's 'Turning of the Wheel' podcast. Most Astrology sites have something to say about the event.

At Unadilla, Nebraska (96W16; 40N41) the partial phase of the eclipse starts at 11.38 am CDT. Totality starts at 1.03.30pm and lasts for 1 minute and 20 seconds so the Eclipse chart is constructed for 1.04.10pm CDT.

At Nashville, Tennessee (86W47; 36N10) the partial phase of the eclipse starts at 11.58.30am CDT. Totality starts at 1.27.21pm CDT and lasts 1 minute and 55 seconds so the Eclipse chart is constructed for 1.28.19pm CDT.

At Columbia, South Carolina (81W02; 34N00), on the East Coast, the partial phase of the eclipse starts at 1.13.07pm EDT. Totality starts at 2.41.50pm EDT and lasts 2 minutes and 30 seconds so the Eclipse chart is constructed for 2.43.05pm EDT.

LOL! Me too! I just started pulling some books out a couple weeks ago and refreshing my memory when I realized this was going to be in close aspect to my own natal Saturn and Mercury.... then I started looking at the political and haven't even really thought about my own chart yet.

And that's the thing about astrology (and life) -- so many angles to consider

One can't help but wonder: does astrology control humans, or are humans selectively (i.e. dissociatively) ascribing meaning to astrology, and ignoring all the other connections/stuff that doesn't fit the theory.
