And that's my entire point. A defense attorney can apply their interpretation of any law, at any time, in any manner that suits their client.

Saying you can't be held liable if you hit somebody with your car when they refuse to get out of the road and get in front of you when you try to go around them isn't the same as saying "have at it, we'll keep score." But like any other law, ever, a defense attorney will try to turn it to their advantage anyway.

ETA - the chief of police just said they're treating it as a criminal homicide so....that's not something covered by any of these laws.

He probably issued a stand down order like we have seen in Berkeley. Antifa is famous for instigating violence and of course they showed up to do exactly that. It's either deliberate or these people are vastly incompetent at there job and seriously lacking logical thinking skills.

The city tried to deny the permits and force the initial demonstration to a different area.

The ACLU took them to court and got the court to force the permits to go through.

Explain to me what people are supposed to do when they are needing to go somewhere and a pack of people is blocking the street ... maybe even throwing rocks at their windows and rocking their cars?

Are they supposed to just sit there? Hope the protesters don't intend to go any further than scaring them out of their minds?

What would you do in that situation? What about if you had small children in your car scared out of their minds?
