I'm a little disapointed at a few threads where the OP/s appears to be experiencing some mental health issues or are clearly in a state of distress and some within the ATS community resort to jump on it ridiculing them for their views.

I know this is the internet and these forums call for people to react with the "pics or didn't happen" attitude but cmon guys, you can tell when someone has lost touch with reality and goading them or ridiculing them doesn't help them. They need compassion and a direction to seek the help of their friends and families.

Idk maybe I'm being overly sensitive but I just think "if that was my dad how would I want him to be treated?"

I agree with you, I read a recent response to an OP from you in which you seemed to be the only one not to make an insinuation he/she was not intoxicated.
I gave your response a star which at the time was its first.
Hopefully this OP will effect some change in attitude

Yeah i do not get it the need to go blast in others topics how he/she doesnt believe what the poster have said, simple why not just challenge the topic in polite and respectful manner, that way you do not have to feel like tricked if the topic was actually a troll but also you would have showed compassion to a someones struggle or what ever might be in question.

I feel you going to the next thread and condescending "them" is much worse. If I am off track I want to know.

Sadly most people act like brainless arrogant (especially arrogant) shire horses here.

Especially those arrogant ones that have never stepped out of their safe space and experienced cultural differences whilst grinding their teeth sitting in their armchair... "cough"... darned throat!

There are some seriously mentally detached ops that come here with real problems. I do see them being egged on with bizarre comments--what's needed is some compassion and identifying their mental instability-not to make fun of their concepts. The op might be barely hanging onto reality by a string and little convos between members enjoying themselves does seem extremely callous. These people need help and need to be told when it's necessary to step back and find a professional. When they are already deeply in trouble the very last thing they need to read are cute little quip-they need to know you care and need pro help.

If people expect to find a caring group of people, educated to take care of the ones in mental instability on a conspiracy site, that would be a full time job.. lol.

This is NOT the right place to share personal problems.. and if there is such a place on the interweb... it would be in a private session with a specialist in the subject at hand.

If they do present there problems here anyway... They will get everything with no filter, good, bad and evil... as it should be, if we do not want to censor everything.. witch would be strange to do on a conspiracy site.

I'm uncertain about which threads you are specifically considering, but it's worth noting that tone and intention is very difficult to interpret over the internet (at least with typed responses). I would be willing to bet that at least 50% of the time, my tone is misinterpreted by some, especially if they are emotionally attached to the issue, or just outright on a mission to defend and contradict.

I'm not at all defending people with piss-poor communication skills and malice in their hearts who blatantly "verbally" abuse other people on here, but sometimes people need to be called out if something that they are posting is based on asininity, or logical fallacies, or lacking any real evidence, or all of the above and more. I understand that it's sometimes hard to read and interpret the way in which people do this 'calling out,' and often times it is rude and over-the-top by design, but an equal amount of time it seems that the tone is misinterpreted on behalf of the reader.

Just something to keep in mind, because like with me, it's not always everyone's goal to tiptoe around others' feelings when responding, but it doesn't always need to be a malicious tone, either.

And like FauxMulder noted, sometimes the OP is just being a troll and trying to ignite conflict where there need not be any. There are a few specific ATSers that immediately come to mind in that regard.

Broken souls as well as trolls. It's best to treat the OPs kindly instead of all the contempt and poo flinging. Trolls out themselves and the broken ones can't help being like that. 🙊🙈🙉

Some of the threads surpass mad crazy like an F1 car passes a fat man jogging. Compassion and jaw on the floor. 😃

When people take the time out of their day to put someone down online,it shows what and who they really are.

They might think they are being cool and getting that little pathetic hit from those stars but the reality is,they have just revealed they are not as "cool" as they thought they were.

As another post in this thread mentioned,"but a lot of times its just a troll."
Yes and people respond to the troll,in other words, these smart asses on their high horse allowed themselves to be trolled while thinking they are superior.

People reveal themselves with their words and actions.

On line personas are a curious thing. Anonymity breeds and unleashes alter egos in people. Especially disaffected male youth looking for a macho identity....thus what we have hear is a failure to communicate.....

and a phony, tough guy, mean, hardass identification with fictional characters in games and media. Look at the avatars chosen....

btw....and not just the young but a lot of adults fall victim to the disease of alternative personalities on line.

I have never been a pics or it did not happen, kind of guy. Unless you have reason to always have your phone ready to snap a shot, sometimes you can be in shock, or disbelief, and just don't think of it.

As far as someone in mental distress, I have never really seen any ATSrs beat someone up, (completely leaving politics out of this comment) unless they seem to be trolling, saying things that are absurd. I wish you had a link to show us exactly which thread you are talking about, so I can better understand your OP.

I wanted to respond with a heart emoticon... no heart emoticon on ATS ?

People sometimes get trashed on ATS when they need help the most. But also there are many very good and kind ATS'ers that really want try to help those who seem to have lost it.

So I read through page one....and had to stop after this part:

But I have moloch, and if I try to take over the world, the devil might be behind me.

So how does anyone expect to take this thread seriously? A person possessed by "Moloch" would not be here on ATS...they would be out there trying to take over the world.

As far as the OP goes, I agree, sometimes trolling on here can get pretty nasty...especially if one is looking for some sort of entertainment or kick out of it. However, there is something called free speech. And btw...nothing wrong with "pics or it didn't happen"

I 100% agree. I read through this thread ( I assume the one which inspired this ) and the posts are all too similar to those in my life with family members and mental illness. I realize nobody can be sure that is the case but is it really worth the star's to your ego to make a snide remark if on the off chance this really is a person struggling and not a troll ? What if your comments are the words they hear over and over in their mind ? Gone are the days where " If you can't say something nice...don't say anything at all. "

Agreed. On a conspiracy site, "pics or it didn't happen" is a given.

And i do believe that empathy and compassion are of utmost importance. However, in this particular case the OP isn't someone who just recently joined ATS. One look at his/her posting history and you see a fascination with Hitler, Moloch, and other topics found in his latest post that stretches back a few years.

I've always held this forum in a higher regard than other forums where anyone just takes a verbal dump on a page and calls it a thread.

Ideas are like clothing. And there are some really badly dressed people around here.

I'm just amazed by number of people who think their opinions are facts while other people's opinions are lies or false. How can an opinion ever be a lie or false? The sky is blue is a fact. Everything having to do with politics is an opinion. So many right wing troll threads it almost makes ATS unbearable.
