Slingshot would extend the trip even longer you forget about the time it takes to make these maneuvers. You would take something from 6 months into several years not a great plan.

Don't read MSM much, huh?

CNBC.com, like yesterday - Lockheed Martin unveils fully reusable crewed Martian lander.

Earth to Mars in 12 months using now, current tech. Get a plasma engine up and running it gets shorter. Or that "impossible" EM drive thingy.

Btw, Russia is always "claiming" things. Last year it was Mach 6 plane (which hasn't even left the drawing board).

They have a slightly different attitude toward manned space exploration in that if they can figure out how to get a human body to Mars first it doesn't matter if it's still alive. It's still a success.
