Did he ever wonder why it was always the same shaped object all the time or what other purpose it might serve???

If I remember correctly, he was about 23 years old, we were setting up a tent in windy conditions. He said, "If only we had one of those things that falls on people's heads." So he associated it with being heavy; would make a handy weight.

As far as the shape I don't know. There are many consistently stylized things in cartoons. I've never seen stars circling someone's head after being struck in real life, but it always looks pretty much the same in cartoons.

America was formed by Conservatives,

Your founding fathers where radical progressives for their time.

They endorsed saying the Pledge of Allegiance in classrooms back then. My how far they've fallen. Thanks for the history lesson, InsaneIthorian.

Are we reading different history books??? The history I learned says it was even written until the late nineteenth century and not adopted as regular school pledges until much later in the mid twentieth. You show me your book and I'll show you mine.

LOL ... not to mention the means of honoring the Flag ... the "Bellamy Salute"

This was discontinued for some reason ... and replaced with hand held over the heart.

America was formed by Conservatives

Dream on Jefferson said the wealthy should be taxed for every cent they can get out of them to pay for social services. How many conservatives do you hear saying something like that.

The more passionately a Liberal declares that you're on the wrong track with any given issue, the more re-assured you should feel that you are spot-on correct.

Only a fool thinks they are right 100% of the time. From time to time you will be wrong just as from time to time the liberal will be wrong. That's just life.

You couldn't be more wrong the foundong fathers were federalist. Jefferson has a falling out was over the creation of a central bank which he opposed. He stated in the federalist papers he didn't think a central government should be given power but it should instead remain with each state. They would fall center right on a political spectrum. Might want to read the federalist papers to further your education.

So much back slapping, OP. It almost seems like you have a fragile ego and were hoping to have it boosted or something?

Remember. You are STRONG. You are SASSY. You are FIERCE. You're an INDEPENDENT WOMAN WHO DON'T NEED NO MAN!

Also, claiming that the founding fathers were conservatives is one of more idiotic things you've said on ATS. But hey, now that we cleared that up, you can go read that other stuff and feel better about yourself.

America was formed by Conservatives, and became GREAT, thanks to Conservatives. The more passionately a Liberal declares that you're on the wrong track with any given issue, the more re-assured you should feel that you are spot-on correct.

You've clearly dug your trench and are unwilling to leave it. Identity politics at its worst.

Conservatives don't play identity politics, though, it's exclusive to liberals.

Everyone is just triggered

I'm not a liberal so I don't think your "thank you" really applies to me. Though I do appreciate how your "thank you" really just means "# you".

Unfortunately this is how we have become a socialist nation

The slow inexorable move to socialism, sponsored by Caterpillar.

Directed by a young Robert Altman, this dramatic plea for better roads was sponsored by Caterpillar Tractor Co. in cooperation with the National Safety Council. It was produced by the Calvin Company of Kansas City, Missouri. The (local) cast includes Art Ellison, Richard C. Sarafian, and Owen Bush.

Sorry for the length. I was looking for a shorter example. You have to watch the full film for greatest effect.

Here's a quote though from 14:55
"You pay more for bad roads than it would have cost you for good ones."

You may want to read his letter to James Madison.

I am conscious that an equal division of property is impracticable. But the consequences of this enormous inequality producing so much misery to the bulk of mankind, legislators cannot invent too many devices for subdividing property..[a] means of silently lessening the inequality of property is to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, and to tax the higher portions of property in geometrical progression as they rise.

Also the founders started taxing incoming ships to pay for medical care for sailors that were hurt at sea.
