Hi! I like games too. I had a Sega Genesis when I was really little, and a dreamcast, gamecube, xbox, 360. Now my own family has an xbox 1 and I typically play games on the Computer via Steam, and Origin, etc... Welcome! Glad you're here!

Loving the replies in this topic. Such a wide variety of gamers.

Pumped to hear that they are making a FFVII remake. That will be awesome. I still have my original game. Hooked up my PS1 a while back to see if I could play it. Sadly PS1 is bricked. lol

Haven't played on steam because my computer kind of sucks. Hopefully my next one will be more gaming oriented.

BTW, one of my secret loves are the lego games. I love them all. It could be lego freaking Sharknado and I'd play it. Although, wait a minute. That could be pretty cool.

To really do gaming on a computer goes one of two ways:

1. You have a lot of money so you can buy pre-packaged gaming computers.

2. You do the research and put together your own build which saves you a decent chunk of change, but you do have to figure out how to plug it all together and make it all work. Theoretically easy, but sometimes harder in practice than it sounds.

We sort of backed into doing our own. We started figuring out how to upgrade pre-packaged computers we had bought because we didn't have the money to run out and buy new every time games out-paced our machines, but we could pay the money for a new component to put inside. So that's what we did. And from there, you start thinking ... Gosh, if I can just pop in a new vid-card or RAM stick, how would it really be to do a CPU or MOBO?

And from there it just naturally progresses to an entire build.

You're not alone here, we've clearly got a lot of gamers at ATS.

I'm still young(ish) but when I was about 8 I was gifted an Atari ST with hundreds of magazines and probably about 1000 games, my mind was blown. I couldn't believe such awesome games, some very detailed too could exist for a console that was older than me.

Castles, Utopia, megalomania and a few others were my favourites, Deuteros, now that was an amazing game, still haven't found a game to scratch the itch it gave me.

Atm I'm on Xbox too, Ark survival evolved is what's been taking over my gaming time atm, if you like building games you may like it.

You can get FFVII on mobile too now.

It's available for pretty much all platforms now, I've got in on Xbox and steam too, it occasionally goes on special and you can pick it up for a few dollars.

An oldish guy here (45), and started off on the likes of Pong too.

Used to enjoy Tomb Raider and Nascar on the PS1, but went away from gaming when i joined the army at 16.

Roll on over twenty years and i've just got a PS4 ....for my kids obviously
....first time back on a console and i'm well into Horizon Zero Dawn and have games such as Last of Us, Witcher 3....i like open world games. Blown away by the game itself and a newfound knowledge and respect for those that put these games together.

Nice to see so many other "mature" gamers

No worries

I've been playing it on PC since before launch; was in the beta.

You'll see a loottttttt of bad reviews about it all from around launch. And yeah, it was pretty bug-infested and goldspammer-infested at the start. And in my opinion didn't deserve the backlash it received. But the entire game has improved drastically since then. I often see people in the chat going "Wow, I was here at launch and only just came back now, and this game is so amazing now!"

It's buy-to-play. You can also buy the additional content thingies, or just subscribe to get automatic access to them. I subscribe. Subscribers get an amazing unlimited inventory craft/material bag and seeing as my personal "end game" is trading and making alllllll the money, that bag is a godsend. (I consider endgame for this in a few different ways - there's the raiders, the pvpers, the rp'ers, the buy-all-the-houses-and-furnish-them people, and the merchants. Proud merchant/pvp-healer-extraordinaire here.)

It has a cash shop, but is not "pay to win".

Andddd I'm rambling.
But yeah, give it a go!

Just don't expect Skyrim Online, or a WoW Clone

Yeah, I went on about a 15 year hiatus from gaming too. I quit playing games when I was about 17, 1994. Then around 2009, a friend reintroduced me to gaming with Fallout 3. Been gaming since.

I'm. I spend at least 3 hour per day playing games. I've already finished at least 20 games. I don't think there is smth wrong with that and I know a lot of girls who like to play video games as I do.
