Shocking Footage Of Saudi Siege Against Own Citizens

What the heck? This is the first I've heard of this. Media is totally ignoring it.

The Saudi regime is in the midst of an extreme and brutal crackdown against its own citizenry in the country's Eastern province - a situation now spiraling out of control with rising civilian deaths, entire neighborhoods turned to rubble, and new reports that water and electricity have been cut to the now completely besieged town of Al-Awamiya. Though local activists continue to upload shocking ground level videos to social media revealing that entire districts have been leveled, international and US media have remained largely silent.

Tensions have been simmering in the heavily Shia populated Qatif governate throughout the past year, especially after the January execution of prominent Shia cleric and Al-Awamiya native Nimr al-Nimr. Additionally, 14 Shia citizens, among them young Mujtaba al-Sweikat - a student enrolled at Western Michigan University - currently await execution upon the signature of King Salman. The torture and mass trial of the group, charged with "protest-related" crimes has further inflamed tensions in the region. Large protests against the Saudi monarchy and security services have been frequent in Qatif going all the way back to the start of the so-called "Arab Spring" - though major international media outlets have tended to ignore such protests occurring under US/UK friendly regimes.

Cool the US just sold them some $100,000,000,000 plus worth of weapons.

Nice move, but business is business.

But, but! The Canadian government sold them armored vehicles with a guarantee they wouldn't be used against SA civilians!
Only the f*****g politicians didn't see it coming it seems, of course.

Didnt the UN not so long ago appoint them to be responsible for human rights?

Yep. Along with such scions of human rights as Rwanda, China, and Cuba.

And the sad part is, that's totally not a joke.

Would you guys feel better if they had bought weapons from Russia or China instead?

Al Jazeera don't seem to have anything on "Awamiyah" or "Awamiya" which is surprising. BBC report 'hundreds fleeing' and Middle Eastern Eye is reporting requisition orders on people's doors:

The order is apparently issued by the Albarahim private property developer, but it also contains a stamp from the National Joint Counterterrorism Command (NJCC), a body formed in 2003 following attacks by al-Qaeda militants in the country.

The document shows a list of requirements that residents can bring to the local authorities in order to be relocated.

Awamiya has long been a flashpoint for protests by Saudi's Shia minority - the influential cleric Nimr al-Nimr, who was executed by the Saudi government in 2016, came from the town and demonstrations and unrest has been frequent.

If the video's real, it looks like the Gaza Strip out there. Not good when people get rinsed from their own properties.

The media doesn't mention it because criticism of Saudi Arabia doesn't fit their narrative.

One can hope this will be the catalyst that ends the House of Saud's rule of Arabia once and for all.

But it won't. if things get too out of hand you can bet the politicians will send the armies of the west to save their puppet masters in the Gulf.

We should have sold them to the Saudi citizens with an agreement to only use them on the Saudi royalty and government.

Sick of the Saudis getting preferential treatment for oil.

When your brain gets a meltdown every summer with 50C (about 122F), you really are shouldn't be allowed to be the head of anything.

...and we call this country an ally of the United States! Trump didn't even include it in his travel ban and he touted the 110 billion dollar weapons deal to Saudi Arabia. The U.S. has been kissing Saudi Arabia's butt for years. The U.S. continues to ignore their poor human rights record, their belief in radical Islam, and ruling their entire country by Sharia Law! Saudi Arabia is a country where radical Islamists would feel right at home.

Are you sure the BBC didn't say that a gang of Islamaphobes were trying to "vandalise military equipment"?
I bet they're annoyed they couldn't pin this on some far right white supremesists!

I'm pretty sure the UN put the Saudis in charge of women's rights too. The victims will, no doubt, include women and children.
Those weapons are only for " defensive purposes" I'm sure.
